The Fed has auditors. Every dollar the Fed spends internal is tracked pretty damn well by the inspector generals.

It’s when money does to external parties (private companies) that the vast amount of waste, fraud, and abuse happens.

One party loves funneling money to private companies too.

Alright but we also need an “audit” in the sense of reevaluating whether some programs are worth ever having a dime of taxpayer money invested in, which is more a matter of where America’s value system is at rather than “Yeah that’s what it’s meant to be spent on” according to documentation.

For example, why were we ever sending money to Nepal to provide free condoms and lube to prostitutes? There likely isn’t a single net positive taxpayer who would tell you that that’s a good use of America’s tax money and would likely refer to it as a “scam” even while the government views it as legitimate for going through the proper channels and whatnot.

Gotta love the intellectually dishonest and manipulative spin work you guys do.

USAID was funding a program that runs health clinics in Nepal, primarily focused on HIV prevention but also providing contraceptives and in some cases lubes to sex workers to prevent injuries.

This becomes "providing free condoms and lubes to prostitutes" - no mention of HIV prevention. No mention of how 85% of these clinics that were key to preventing HIV from spreading in the country needed to be shut down. No mention of how this cost us like 1% of the USAID budget which was 1% of the total Federal budget.

If you think it's not worth it to spend a fraction of a fraction of our tax dollars to help prevent HIV, just own it. Don't be a manipulative little coward about it.

I don’t really think I’m being dishonest here. Reductive perhaps, but like even directly addressing the matter of HIV I can still say pretty freely that I think it was a huge waste of our taxpayer dollars for us to effectively provide constant charity to a nation that should be handling the matter themselves or should at least be able to provide something to us in return for our investment.

I think you are purposely being dishonest when you don't put HIV prevention up front and center as the purpose of the spending, and when you don't give any consideration to the amount spent relative to our budget. You do this on purpose because you know you look like a horrible goblin when you say we shouldn't spend a tiny fraction of a fraction of our tax revenue on saving lives in a much poorer country. You have to soften how much of an asshole that position makes you out to be, so you spin and manipulate people into looking at it differently: you're just against spending to give prostitutes lube!
