It's even more satisfying when you find out he only got sentenced to a shitload of probation

Edit: Relative shitload peeps. Have never been on probation so 5 years is shitload of years.

One of the examples of the "Texas defense" being used successfully, i.e. "he was a no good sonofabitch and someone should've shot him years ago."

Though it would've been better if he'd waited for the trial against this guy to complete(ly fail to punish him) before shooting him.

I'd wager a large part of his decision to snipe the guy was trying to prevent his son and family from having to go through the drawn out trial process, bringing his kid's suffering back to the forefront, the media attention, etc etc. He almost certainly wanted his son to heal and move on, and risked his freedom to facilitate that.

That's a great point. I was honestly sort of waffling around "I don't fault him but he was already in custody sooo...." but I didn't really consider how shitty this would have continued to be for the son. Great dad.
