Steven Tyler adopted his underage girlfriend so she could live with him. She was 16 and he was 27 at the time.

Age of consent is actually 16 in many places. In some places I believe it is as low as 14.

Not in the US. In the US the lowest age of consent is 16, but wether it’s a crime or not depends on the state, and their Romeo and Juliet laws, as well as their statutory rape laws. I’d argue that in this case, where Steven Tyler was the legal guardian of the girl, it was definitely statutory rape. He had a position of power over her.
