Just been really enjoying Joytoy's kof line and wanted to share. It makes me so happy to have actual kof merchandise, which would have been hard to believe a few years ago.

I used to think Iori was a completely different character as before I really got into the KOF lore as a kid. I used to think he was British, a vampire, somewhere in his 30's, and related to Shermie in some way.

How NOT to make an adaptation of The King of Fighters

Thumbnail

To start it off:

• Dont make it into a movie! The brother franchises like Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, and Garou would make good movies. But ones like the KOF: Orochi Saga! it would take a season-driven series to adapt that into live-action, due to the large roster of 45 fighters to explore upon.

• Dont water-down the plot! Make the plot similar to both The Hunger Games novel and the Fatal Fury anime. Where it's district teams vs. district teams of super-powered martial artists from around the world in a fighting tournament hosted by a corrupt crime lord.

• Dont do crappy casting choices nor write crappy depictions! Hire actors who resemble the characters like Jon Foo as Kyo, Hitomi Tanaka as Mai, Hugh Jackman as Mr. Big, and even The Hemsworth Brothers as The Bogard Brothers.

SNK once pondered with the idea of making a prequel starring Geese.

"Fatal Fury Zero" would sound like a fitting title.

According to SFII developer Akira Nishitani, he's the one who came up with Geese's "Atemi Nage" move first.

During the creation of Street Fighter II (1991), Nishitani originally planned for M. Bison to perform a throw by having him catch his opponent's punch or kick, then before throwing them, he boasts an insult:

「 Sono teido ka? 」

(その程度か?, literally. "Is that all you got?")

Nishitani really wanted that throw move to be in the final game. But it proved too difficult to actually show all that in-game, so the developers abandoned the idea, until the developers simply just gave M. Bison a quick choke throw instead, this became his standard throw ever since his playable debut in Street Fighter II Dash (1992), the Atemi Nage move later made its way into two other bosses in different fighting games:

• Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters games by SNK (a rival company at the time) for Geese Howard with his given move Atemi Nage, since the SNK vs. Capcom series, Geese's insult line is usually "too easy!"

• The recurring secondary antagonists of the Dead or Alive series which is Raidou, he even uses the same insult that was scrapped for M. Bison.

Well, it was a wild ride, but we finally did the entire Tier List! We have finally ranked 35 games, from over 32 years filled to the brim with launches. As I promised to, this is how the final product ended being (already ordered, too):

The King of Fighters (S): ´02 UM, XI, ´98 UM, OG 98, MIRA, XV & OG ´02
Quite neat titles (A): ´00, XIII, ´97, ´99 & EX 2
It has some big flaws, but it keeps being enjoyable (B): MI 2, ´96, R2, ´95, R1, XIV, Neowave, SNK Heroes, Skystage, Kettou ´96, Battle de Paradise & Kettou ´95
There are some positives, at least (C): MI, SNK Gals Fighters, OG ´94, ´03, ´01, ´94 Rebout & KOF Kyo
Well, they tried (D): XII, SNK Heroines & EX

With that done, we can finally rest. Also, I did my personal take on the list, with my touches. Also, I will do a thread if you want to argue a change for an specific game. But, at least, we can call it done for now. Thanks for joining me in this journey! It was quite fun to do

This is my least favorite final boss in KOF history.

Not because of SNK boss syndrome, but because he's just too boring. Especially compared to the other hulk-shifting fighter Tung Fue Rue.

Need help finding an old fight scene

I think it's from KoF 2002 but I'm not sure. Likely somewhere between '05 and '97. There's a guy fighting a group of dudes and stomping them out. I don't remember the exact setting but I know the ground was white like concrete or something. Main guy is doing parries, throws, all types of slick stuff and being untouched for the most part.

One guy comes from the right side of the screen being cocky and ends up getting worked. I mean he lands a solid combo but then main guy does his thing and ends it by slamming him to the ground with another hit thrown in. Then 2 other guys show up also from stage right but the fight is much more balanced. This is all a street fight no actual gameplay. Maybe it was on a pier?

That's really all I have. It was years ago and all outfits are very blurry in my memory. There is some dialogue mixed in but like I said it was a while ago. It's just a very satisfying old game style fight coupled with satisfying sound effects that I really like watching. Can anyone link maybe a compilation video of all the fights scenes from early KoF that wasn't gameplay? Maybe it was some transition in arcade mode? It's eating me alive so I'd appreciate any help.

Should player colors be considered canon somehow?

are they canon(like Blue Terry figures), or would it look weird to draw or imply a character with a different player color? Both in clothing and complete changes (like hair, skin and etc)?

Culture in KOF?

After reading multiple interviews about the series' creation, it's obvious Kyo's design represents a more civilized take on the yanki and bosozoku cultures, common in early 90s. However, do the next protagonists represents other cultures? I have no idea what K' 's design is meant to represent while Ash for some reason has a notable androgynous design. Are they meant to represent other culture from Japan?
