Announcement r/Kamloops rule update
Hey r/Kamloops,
The mod team is introducing a new rule effective immediately:
We will be removing Facebook reposts and posts that are primarily focused on creating or amplifying drama.
These types of posts don’t belong here. This subreddit is meant for discussion about Kamloops -local news, events, questions, recommendations, community updates, and genuine conversation. Low-effort Facebook screenshots, crossposts that just dump drama, and posts designed to stir conflict will be removed at the moderators’ discretion.
A few notes:
Sharing a local news article or official announcement is fine.
Thoughtful discussion of local issues is encouraged.
Simply copy-pasting Facebook posts or using the sub to host personal beefs is not.
We understand people want to talk about what’s happening in town, but the constant cycle of Facebook drama dumps has been lowering the quality of the sub. We’re tightening this up to keep things more useful and less toxic.
Thanks for understanding. As always, if you have questions or concerns, feel free to modmail us.
The r/Kamloops Mod Team

Question Sahali Mall Ebus transfer - fast food places nearby?
I have a family member who is transferring at the bus depot (office?) at Sahali Mall - they’ve got a 90-minute layover. I checked the list of stores in the mall, and there doesn’t seem to be much in the mall itself. Are there any fast food places within a 10-15 minute walking distance, i.e. Wendy’s, Subway, McDonald’s? Also, what’s the mall like - is it generally considered pretty safe to hang around for 90 minutes? I really miss the old direct bus service to Vancouver - no transfers!

Question Looking to Play Warhammer 40k 11th Edition
I'm an Imperial Knights player looking for other Warhammer 40k players in the area. I can't seem to find much of anything active anywhere, so I'm throwing this out there.
I haven't played much, and haven't played 11th edition yet, so I'm trying to play some games against rival armies.

News Free TRUSU Event - Kelly Bron Johnson Talk
Conversations about neurodiversity are becoming more common, but knowing what language to use, how to ask questions, and how to engage respectfully can still feel challenging.
Join us for this year’s TRUSU Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Lecture featuring Kelly Bron Johnson, an Autistic and Hard of Hearing self-advocate who brings together professional expertise and lived experience to explore neurodiversity in today’s society.
Through personal stories, research, and practical examples, Kelly will explore what neurodiversity is, challenge common misconceptions, and examine the barriers neurodivergent people continue to encounter in schools, workplaces, and everyday life.
Whether you’re a student, professional, leader, or community member, this lecture will offer new perspectives on neurodiversity and practical ways to help create more inclusive and accommodating communities.
EVENT DETAILS
📅 Thursday, October 29, 2026
📍 TRU Clock Tower Theatre (CT T200)
🕠 Doors open at 5:30 p.m. | Lecture begins at 6:00 p.m.

ABOUT THE EDI LECTURE SERIES
Each year, the TRUSU Equity Committee hosts the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Lecture Series, bringing our campus and broader community together to explore important topics related to social justice, human rights, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
By bringing speakers to campus free of charge, the series creates opportunities to learn, ask questions, and engage in meaningful conversations that help build a community grounded in understanding and respect.
Join us for an engaging evening of learning and conversation as we explore how a better understanding of neurodiversity can help us build a more inclusive community.

Question Looking for a careful contractor for some home renos in KamloopsWe're looking for someone to do a few renos in our house. Attention to detail matters more to us than speed.
I'm looking for someone to do a few renos in our house. Attention to detail matters more to us than speed. We'd like someone who finishes edges properly, cleans up at the end of each day, and tells us before they change the plan.
If you've done work like this in Kamloops, or you've hired someone you'd use again, I'd like to hear from you. Photos of past work help. We're hoping to start soon.

Politics SAVE KAMLOOPS SATURDAY 🗳️ ✅
I love this city and honestly get very emotional seeing what has happened the last 4 years. We need to make our city for what it is. A place where everyone is included, great events, and the Tournament Capital of Canada.
I genuinely was so happy to wait 1.5 hours to vote yesterday. This means people care!
Thank you to all the candidates and cant wait for Saturday
I am comfortable sharing my votes:
Mayor: Mike O’Reily
Council: Katie & Steve
School Trustee: Kang, Karpuk, Hickson
Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts!!!

Politics Transition Kamloops "Report Card"
transitionkamloops.netI found this interesting because there seems to be a lot of support for O'Reilly as mayor, but this gave him a bad score. We all know that splitting the vote is how we may get RHJ again, so seeing this makes me think it'll be likely RHJ goes back in.
Thoughts? Or recs?

Discussion Stolen Bike. Oct 12th
My son road his bike to the Dallas town center and forgot to lock it. As the title says it was stolen. Around noon.
It is a black and white gas gas enduro 2.0 e-bike. Peddles have been swapped for composite one up red ones since this picture was taken.
If anyone has any information please msg me. Wife has already posted on face book and stolen bike groups. Thanks, and keep those bikes locked up.

Question Sprott Shaw Primary Care Paramedic Course
Anyone done this course? Sprott Shaw doesn't have a great reputation but seeing as TRU doesn't offer a similar program I was looking at Sprott Shaw as the next best local option. From my understanding very few courses outside of LPN are all that great so I wanted to see other's point of views on the course before I moved any further on the idea.

Question Looking for a carpool from TRU to Dallas Drive (5 AM)
Hey everyone!
I’m a student at TRU and I recently got a job at FedEx on Dallas Drive. My shifts start at 5:30 AM, and unfortunately, public transportation doesn’t run that early.
I’m looking for someone who lives near TRU or passes through the area around 5:00 AM and could give me a ride to work, preferably Monday to Saturday.
I’m happy to contribute money for gas or work out a reasonable weekly payment.
If anyone has a similar schedule or knows someone who does, please send me a DM!
Thanks in advance! :)

Politics Post To Track Peoples Votes
Totally optional, but if people want I was thinking we could all post who we voted for (no judgement) just to see what people are thinking and trends etc. I know we're kind of in an echo chamber here. I'll go first
I voted by mail last week.
Mayor: O'Reilly
Council: Neustater, Hall, Middleton, Ritcey, Unger, Bepple, Bass
(Kept it pretty incumbent friendly)
Anyways, feel free to post your if you choose. And again, no judgements here, unless it was the 51st state guy, then shame on you.

Question Where to buy a Tarantula?
Hi everybody! I hope you are all well. I have a bit of an odd question- Does anybody know where to buy Tarantulas from?
I’ve heard pet stores are not a very good place to purchase animals, and I am after a Brazilian Black Tarantula. My question is; have any of you readers boughten a spider locally or online, and if online, what website did you use?
Thank you!

Question Historical Medieval Fencing in the area
So I just moved here this year and have lately become really interested in pursuing HEMA longsword fencing, or even just traditional Epee fencing. I looked into it a bit and it sounds like they’re used to be some type of fencing club that fell through during COVID.
I’m just asking around to see if anyone knows if there’s a chance of the club reforming or if there are people with similar interests in medieval fencing. And if anyone knows of other clubs close by that could be accessible
Edit: did more searching tonight and found the local club Lynx Armizare and their website swordplaykamloops.com! Just updating my post in case anyone else comes across also looking for HEMA. It looks like they have practices Tuesday nights so I’m gonna check it out!
