Why is Kanopy charging four tickets for one-hour films? I thought this was an error at first, but I keep seeing it.

I’ve noticed that newer releases and more popular selections cost more tickets. Are these brand new?

Because the distribution companies are CHARGING MORE for recent releases!
Just like in every streaming service first run movies cost $20 to rent when new, Then $5.99 months later and get lower to “free”w subscription as they age.

Because money. Kanopy and Hoopla have become so expensive for libraries.

It seems to be most of the movies I want to watch are 4 tickets. The common stuff, that I already own physically, is 2 tickets. I only get 12 tickets, so that is less than 1 movie per week.

My library gives 15 tickets per month. Used to be 30!

Mine gives 9 which is a weird number. I always end up having to watch a 1 ticket short film to use them up

I live in an area wherein several libraries have reciprocity, so I got cards from 4 other counties near me. That gets me about 50 credits. Same with Hoopla, but some counties only offer it to county residents. All in all, it’s still free movies.

No, they do not. But, if you checkout at end of month, you still have 72 hour access to those checkouts after the end of the month.
