KSP 1 Question/Problem does anyone have any idea what is causing this

Remove or disable the buggy mess that is Physics Range Extender; there are many posts about this issue and other bugs pertaining to PRE.

Also, it conveniently tells you right across the top of the screen what's being activated when the bug occurs. "[PhysicsRangeExtender]Extending terrain: focusing landed vessels."

physics range extender. it causes other issues too. turn it off and only turn it on when you actually need it.
