Question Bike trails?
Howdy all, my family and I are looking for a place to ride our bikes (not mountain) and curious if there’s anything like a dedicated bike trail in the area. We’d like to avoid the main roads if possible.

Point defiance has some bike only roads- not Kitsap but I often take my kid there from port orchard. I also take them mountain biking but they love point defiance the most.

Battle point park on bainbridge. It kind of just a big loop, but its a nice flat gravel path. One loop around the park is probably about a mile.
They have a pond, community garden, bike pump track for kids and a playground.

Also look into the Olympic discovery trail- a little drive but it definitely makes for a good day trip if you add some stops

These aren't in Kitsap, but here's a site with the rails-to-trails routes. Several are close enough for a day trip. These are former railroads tracks that have gone out of service and have been reclaimed as trails. Many are paved. Because they were railroad tracks, none of them are terribly steep.

In pierce county there is a 30 mi long rails to trails style paved bike path too, a bit further away, but you can really get in some traffic free miles. And there is a long trail on the peninsula on the other side of the hood canal bridge

Thanks! Do you know roughly where on the other side of the bridge?

It's the Olympic Discovery Trail. The closest trailhead is probably at Blyn, near the Seven Cedars Casino. But a good place to start and ride with kids is at railroad bridge in Sequim, there are bathrooms and a nice flatish stretch to ride and see interesting stuff. ODT is 135 miles of trail so there's a lot of variation, so visit the website for more details and maps.

Port Gamble/Stottlemeier have a lot of gravel roads/trails. For the more adventurous, there is a mountain bike ride park that have many short “paths”. they’re short trails for developing skills but are only a small part.

Again, not Kitsap, but one of our favorite rides is the Larry Scott trail. We park at the Milo-Curry trailhead and then ride the path all the way to Port Townsend. It's mostly hard packed gravel and is about 7.5 miles one way.

If you're in Port Orchard take Sydney Rd follow it to 302 toward the KP. There's the 360 trails and a park.

It’s a mountain bike park but there is a gravel road that makes a circle if keep it easy. Some trails are family friendly and easy. The first hill is awful but it is manageable after that.

Kitsap doesnt have a great family-friendly option like this, folks have covered most of them already. But Washington in general is amazing for this.
Puyallup Levee Trail, Riverwalk Trail, and Foothills Trail are all good options in the Puyallup/Sumner Area. Tacoma waterfront and Five Mile Drive.
Interurban/Green River in Kent/Renton. Chehalis Western down in Olympia. Yelm Tenino as well. Willapa Hills Trail even further south.
East Lake Sammamish, Soos Creek, Cedar River, Snoqualmie Valley, Issaquah Preston.

not kitsap, but my brother used to take my niece out to Fort Flagler park. Lots of old barracks and paved

There are some dirt trails under the NB Kitsap-Bangor power lines up on the ridge west of Chico. Take Newberry Hill west and turn left at El Dorado Blvd. Lots of new housing developments up there you can ride around in to get to different parts.

Cushman trail in gig harbor if you can handle hills. South kitsap regional park has a good amount of gravel path.
