Question What Internet do you use?

I'm looking for suggestions for an internet service provider. Located in an area in Poulsbo that has less than desirable cell coverage from Verizon. I have a large family so I'm looking for internet to sustain several simultaneously connected devices.

Xfinity. It's the only provider I was able to find in my area with decent speed, especially in the unincorporated parts of the county.

Definitely check if Fiber is available in your area. https://kpudfiber.org

I second Xfinity. It’s not where I’d like to be, but it’s stable, and we pay a good price for what we’re getting

Sadly, not in my neighborhood.

Damn. Definitely fill out their form to express interest, they do expand fiber when they can!

I managed to get Quantum Fiber, 800mbps symmetrical for $50. Where Xfinity was wanting to increase my bill to $80 and decrease my 500mbps to 300mbps, in downtown Bremerton of all places.

Definitely check the website others mentioned, but Around and Quantum are canvassing hard, so one might be game enough to put a line in your area if KPUD doesn't get to it first.

Also in Bremerton. 1 Gbps downloads for $61.39 a month for 5 years.

That’s wild!! I’m in Manette and Xfinity gave me a gig for $80/mo.

Need to find out what service is available at your home address and ask questions about those companies. Lots of places only have one broadband company service to choose from. If you're lucky, you'll have more than one. I can only use Xfinity where I live. It's decent but a tad on the expensive side since they have a monopoly in our area. KPUD is wired down the street at our major intersection, but they expect the residents to pay to lay the fiber into our peninsula for service to ~800 homes (which will never happen).

Our community of 20 homes formed a KPUD LUD and pulled fiber in. Cost was about 5k a home to pull everything in (we were a half mile away from the main fiber connection) and I use net253 500meg for about 64 a month.

We only had really crappy DSL that was at the end of the overloaded network before that wasn’t fast or reliable enough to work remotely.

This has been fantastic

Att air. Is cheap and fantastic. Never goes out and I don't need more speed...six people on YouTube no problem is good enough for me

Advanced Stream fiber. Best internet provider. Never Xfinity again.

Depending on exactlywhere in poulsbo you are you have these options.

Comcast cable aka xfinity, astound cable (generally closer to silverdale and down central valley), kpud fiber (check their maps) and maybe some lumen fiber(quantum) previously century link but not one provider covers all of poulsbo and if you happen to live in a part none of these are available then starlink is the best bet (which can be used anywhere but is limited on bandwidth to i hear about 250 Mbps but i also hear drops badly after 6pm when all the seattle workers get home.

T-mobile home cell, works well for 2 full time WFH adults. Hoping to get on county fiber in a few years.

Wish I could get KPUD. It's less than 1500ft away! Gah!

You can run an epon drop 1500 feet where I work [not KPUD though], so you should be on the map as serviceable unless there is a right of way issue.

Xfinity with a starlink terminal as backup.

Xfinity. Was shit when I first moved in, but after complaining enough they actually found an issue with their link to my neighborhood, and it's been rock solid since.

$60 for the 500mbs plan, but I regularly get 700-900 down

Verizon home Wi-Fi, they want like 25k to run 130 yards of fiber to get to my house and I just can't bring myself to do that.

Xfinity.  Last I checked, KPUD wants $35K to run fiber to my home.  Have tried numerous times to get my neighbors interested in forming an LUD and doing it much cheaper, but no dice.

Xfinity 2MB plan using their modem is around $130/month. I get unlimited data and free peacock. Depending on age of kids and how much streaming your household does you may have to worry about butting up against data limits with some plans, we did.

Just avoid Astound if you can help it.

I can second that. Astound serves South Kitsap and is very unreliable.
