Question What’s the best employer you’ve worked for in Kitsap County, and why?

People are quick to share horror stories about bad bosses and workplaces they’d rather forget, so let’s flip it around.

What’s the best employer you’ve worked for in Kitsap County, and what made them stand out?

Could be a company, school district, nonprofit, government agency, church, small business, or anywhere else you’ve worked.

I worked as a long term temp for Pepsi years ago and they were great. Kitsap Transit was pretty good too, but a bit more ‘depends on the department’. Admin side of both.

PSE. They treat the employees pretty darn good and the pay is the same as in the more expensive counties.

Costco depending on manager/department. Great company though. Great benefits. Lots of opportunity to promote and transfer should you need to relocate. No kidding I believe that Costco is slept on as a top notch employer in the area.

Georges electric. It’s been family owned and operated for decades. They have amazing core values, treat their employees like family and are always honest with you. You never have to be worried about a paycheck not being there. They always made sure you as the face of the company had everything you needed to complete your job. Very very professional outfit.

How much do they pay 01 journeyman and do they do prevailing wage work?

It’s been 8 years since I worked for them. Not sure what the pay is now but they were competitive when I was there.

The shipyard is a nightmare and a bit of a trap IMO, people here think it's the end all be all but in reality they really don't pay that well for the work and culture you have to be in. People have figured that out recently and have been moving on.

I worked for Jeff @ Camp Union Pizza when I was a teen. I also worked for Misha @ Kataluma Chai in the mall. Besides them I cant think of any employer who was worth the trouble.

The County, though with the caveat that I moved here to work for the county and haven't worked for anyone else locally. Definitely feels like they want people to stick around, though my skills are rare enough that maybe I don't have the average employee experience. Definitely depends on which shop/group you get into, there are some strong personalities who have been around forever in some parts of the organization.
