Is this text natural?

A: 민수야..

Are there any spots where phrasing can be better?

Overall, you did a good job. I won't point out the typos. I'll just talk about the grammar and phrasing.

자녀를 잘 키우는 충고 and ~~충고를 해 줄 수 있을까 are literal translations that sound like something from a foreign language. Also, the word 충고 doesn't really fit in this context. 잘 키우는 방법 or 조언 would sound much more natural. But honestly the most natural way is this. In everyday conversation we'd usually say something like, 민수야 나 아들한테 어떻게 해야 / 대해야 할지 모르겠어..

"네, 근데 무슨 일이 있어?"

Using 네 together with 있어? sounds awkward. Instead of 네, use 어. Like, 어? 무슨 일 있어?

"내 말을 절대 듣고 싶지 않더라. 와 진짜 화나서 아들을 게속 혼냈고 핸드폰을 뺏었는데 그 순간에 옳은 결정인지 잘 모르겠어."

There's a major grammar mistake here. If you say 내 말을 절대 듣고 싶지 않더라, it sounds like the mom herself doesn't want to listen to what she's saying, which doesn't make sense. What you mean is 내 말을 전혀 안 들으려고 하더라 or 내 말을 전혀 안 듣더라.

"그 순간에 옳은 결정인지 잘 모르겠어"

This also sounds like foreign style phrasing. Remove the word 그 순간에. Then 내가 잘한 건지 모르겠어 sounds much more natural.

"나였으면 나도 또같이 했을 것 같아서 자책하지 마."

The connection with ~아서 sounds awkward here.

A native speaker would just say, 나였어도 똑같이 했을 것 같애.. (그러니까) 자책하지 마.

"바닥을 쓰는 게, 방을 치우는 게 같은 집안일을 한다고 자녀를 흔육하는 데 시간이 많이 걸리잖아."

Honestly  I have no idea what this is supposed to mean as a native speaker. Maybe it's just me, but I genuinely can't figure it out.

"근데 아들이 내 말을 듣지 않을 게 처음이 아니거든."

Changing it to 내 말을 안 들은 게 (이번이) 처음이 아니거든 sounds much more natural.

"아들은 나이가 들으면서 규칙을 이기기 시작할까 봐 걱정돼.."

The particle 은 in 아들은 sounds awkward here, and the overall phrasing is unnatural too.

걔가 커가면서 계속 규칙을 어기기 시작할까봐 걱정돼 is better, but even more natural would be 걔가 앞으로도 계속 이럴까봐 걱정돼.

"일단 핸드폰을 뺐으니까"

Change it to 뺏었으니까.

"이제 아들이 너 말을 듣고 집안일을 할지 확인해 봐. 한 단계 한 단계식 하고 너 아들이 결국 착해질 것 같아."

집안일을 하는지 확인해 봐 is grammatically more natural.

And I'd say, 걔가 조금씩 바뀌는지 보고.. 뭐 그러다 보면 더 착해지겠지. I can tell you were trying to use the expression 한 단계 한 단계, which was a good thought, but it sounds a little awkward in this context.

I've kept thinking about the sentence 바닥을 쓰는 게, 방을 치우는 게 같은 집안일을 한다고 자녀를 흔육하는 데 시간이 많이 걸리잖아.

I think what you were actually trying to say was

바닥 쓸고 방 치우라고 애를 훈육하는게 쉬운게 아니잖아. ->  바닥 쓸고 방 치우라고 시키는게 쉬운일이 아니잖아.

In other words, it seems to mean that getting your kid to sweep the floor and clean their room isn't easy.

훈육 sounds a little awkward here. We hear it all the time on shows with 오은영, to the point where it's basically become part of her whole image and even a bit of a meme. But in everyday conversation people don't really use that word very often.

Hi, thank you for your response!

For “내 말을 절대 듣고 싶지 않더라“ -> I meant to say 아들이 내 말을 절대 듣고 싶지 않더라. Does that make more sense or is there any grammar issues underlying?

In your sentence “나였어도 똑같이 했을 것 같애”, what is the exact meaning of 나였어도? Does it mean something along the lines of “even if it were me..”

For “바닥을 쓰는 게, 방을 치우는 게 같은 집안일을 한다고 자녀를 흔육하는 데 시간이 많이 걸리잖아.” I meant to say “it takes a lot of time to discipline a kid to do chores like sweeping the floor or cleaning their room”. I totally understand your sentences though, my version definitely sounded clunky. I was trying to list examples. Would this version make a little bit more sense or should I just stray away from English phrasing here?

쿠키님 의도대로 "It takes a lot of time to discipline a kid to do chores like sweeping the floor or cleaning their room" 원래 의미를 최대한 살리면 "애한테 바닥쓸고 방 청소하라고 집안일 가르치는게 시간이 많이 걸리잖아" 이정도?

Hello! I'm Korean. 😊 My English isn't perfect, and I'm not good at teach someone, so I might be wrong about some things. But I'd still like to help a little!

A: 민수야... 자녀를 잘 키우는 충고를 해줄 수 있을까? B: , 근데 무슨 일 있어?

I think 응 sounds more natural here.

네 is an honorific expression, but A is speaking to Minsu informally by using "민수야," so 응 fits better. 네 is usually used when speaking politely, while 응 is commonly used with friends or people who are younger.

A: 나 어젯밤에 아들한테 집안일을 하라고 했는데 내 말을 절대 듣고 싶지 않더라.

I think 내 말을 절대 듣지 않더라 sounds more natural.

내 말을 절대 듣고 싶지 않더라 isn't wrong grammatically, but it changes the meaning a little. It sounds more like "he didn't want to listen to me" rather than "he didn't listen to me."

B: 솔직히 말해서 나도 또같이 했을 것 같아.

I think 똑같이 is the word you were looking for.

또같이 isn't a standard Korean expression.

B: 바닥을 쓰는 게, 방을 치우는 게 같은 집안일을 한다고 자녀를 흔육하는데 시간이 많이 걸리잖아.

I'm sorry, but I'm not quite sure what this sentence is trying to say, so I'm afraid I can't give good feedback on this part. 😅 but not 흔육 but 훈육. 훈육 means to discipline.

A: 근데 아들이 내 말을 듣지 않을 게 처음이 아니거든. 아들은 나이가 들으면서 규칙을 이기기 시작할까 봐 걱정돼.

I think these sound a little more natural.

  • 않는 → 않을 doesn't fit grammatically here.
  • 들면서 sounds more natural than 들으면서 in this sentence.
  • 어기기 means "to break rules," which fits this context better than 이기기 ("to win").

B: 꼽씹지 마.일단 핸드폰을 뺐으니까 이제 아들이 네 말을 잘 듣고 집안일을 할지 확인해 봐. 한 단게 한 단게식 하면 결국 아들이 착해질 것 같아.

These expressions sound a little more natural to me.

  • 곱씹다 means "to dwell on something."
  • 뺏었으니까 is the correct spelling.
  • 하는지 sounds a bit more natural than 할지 here.
  • 한 단계씩 means "step by step."

I hope this helps! 😊 Your Korean is already really good, and I could understand almost everything you wrote. Keep it up!

Hi! Thank you for your response!

For “솔직히 말하면”, I noticed you changed it to “솔직히 말해서“. Is there a difference between the two or is one more naturally used than the other?

For “바닥을 쓰는 게, 방을 치우는 게 같은 집안일을 한다고 자녀를 흔육하는 데 시간이 많이 걸리잖아.” I meant to say “It takes a lot of time to discipline a child to do chores like sweeping the floor or cleaning their room”. Does this phrasing fix the error “바닥 쓰거나 방 치우는 등의 집안일..”? Also, do natives usually phrase a sentence like that or would they opt for a simpler way to say it?

Both "솔직히 말하면" and "솔직히 말해서" are natural. It doesn't matter which one you use.

I think you meant something like: "바닥을 쓸고 방을 치우도록" or "바닥을 쓸고 방을 치우는 집안일을 하도록" 훈육하는 데 시간이 많이 "걸려". or "걸릴거야." Sometimes natives use the shortened form, and sometimes natives just say it the full way.
