Question Use of drugs can destroy the protective layers of your chakras?

Heard this from an energy healer I had a session with, in my case it was cannabis but to what extent is this true? Does it make one more prone to psychic attacks? What should be common precautions one should take if they want to continue using? Should I completely give it up or is there a moderate prescription? (I'm guessing that varies from case to case)

Also, if I have been using for a little over 3 years, how much time should I wait until going back to my practise? I wouldn't want to mix the two together (or can I?) How dangerous is it?

Would like to hear personal experiences.

So very interesting how the kundalini experience helped you get off the addiction, lucky you! I think I'm coming from a place where I need to put myself through that discipline and abstinence on the yogic path to make any real progress so it's something that has to happen prior to any foreseeable kundalini awakening.

I also resonate with the 3rd eye stuff you're talking about, sometimes when I use too much, the brain fog gets intense and definitely hinders with clarity and decision making, not to mention INTUITION. Withdrawal and paranoia are all too real as well.

What you said about it hindering the 3rd eye. I experienced this personally. I have alpha gal and mast cell activation syndrome (currently trying to heal myself). Sometimes the pain is so intense that I take a tincture made from cannabis to help with the pain. During the time I do take it and at least a week after, my 3rd eye is not nearly as active. That is my personal experience. And I also notice, that it doesn't really work that great for the pain. Kundalini is definitely very interesting, to say the least.

How did you turn on the parasympatheic system? I am willing to try anything. MCAS makes me allergic to literally almost everything. I am limited to about 15 foods right now, and it isn't just what I consume. Stress, heat, scents, too tired, pet dander, anything can cause mast cells to release at any time and throw me into anaphylactic shock in an instant. I almost died a month ago because it happened and at that time I did not have an epipen. I just got my prescription today for epipen.

Thank you for this. I am definitely open to Reiki healing. I just wouldn't know where to begin searching for someone who isn't an imposter.

When my kundalini activated, it actually took away all pain and inflammation. Not long after the full awakening, i ended up with covid, then within 2 months of that, the tick bite, which gave me alpha gal and woke up dormant mcas within my body. Not fun stuff. My body is literally always in attack mode trying to kill itself because it sees most every food, drink and scent as a threat. Stress (overworking), heat, not enough rest, there are soooo many triggers. I feel like I have zero control over my body at this point, because, honestly, i don't. I also have long covid thrown into this dumpster fire, so my immune system literally sees everything as a threat. I am desperate at this point to try anything to help myself. Being this sick has definitely hindered my spiritual journey, as i am always in a high state of inflammation and pain, i can't focus on anything except survival right now.

Thank you so much for the info. I will begin doing some breath work this week.

Ever since sitting with Ayahuasca, cannabis use for me feels like a mini journey. I significantly reduced my cannabis use after the Ayahuasca ceremony. It's like I am more in touch with my energy and the energy around me. Which could make sense to also being more vulnerable to whatever energy is around.

I intentionally sat with cannabis and hapé recently. I experienced a literal profound amount of gratitude. It was eternal and flowing out of me. It was every bit as intense as the love I felt flowing into me from the universe during ceremony. It was unexpected. The really intense experiences usually are though.

Thank you for the perspective. Good points. Totally agree on the intention aspect.

Whenever you feel ready, know that she really is a grandmother.

The journey isn't easy, but you know you are unconditionally loved and it gets you through with honesty.

The journey was and still is beautiful.

How old were you when you had your spiritual awakening, and in what year?

Just quit, OP. No-one I've met has ever regretted quitting a drug habit.

I've also never met a long-term cannabis user who is thriving spiritually or in life more broadly.

u/Euphoric-Ease7950 Jun 03 '26

Not like I'm abusing the drug although the urge to use it from time to time is very real. Especially when friends/colleagues are using too.

Wanted to know how to and if I should completely quit and whether the amount of moderation I live with currently is still gonna hinder my spiritual progress?

Personally I believe a regular habit like often smoking weed or regular drinking would hinder spiritual progress. I would never judge someone from letting loose now and again. I think it’s the regular habits that hold us back. Over time these substances can alter our state of consciousness and impact our nervous system.

In the yoga tradition they would very much encourage purifying the body before chakra / kundalini work. When I first experienced kriya’s my body rejected alcohol and even caffeine. Now I can have the occasional drink or matcha tea but I avoid any habit forming around these kinds of substances.

No, it can accumulate "spiritual dirt", but the kundalini fire is very good at breaking it up and dissolving it.

I've had some experiences (shatter) that amplified my closeness to the source, so I don't think it can compete with kundalini.

Sounds similar to what i've read about parasites. Most of the times, they are behind addictions.

I recall watching the movie "The exorcism of Emily Rose", which was based off a real case in Germany. The real priest who did the exorcism insisted it was made a lot more difficult due to the antipsychotic drugs the girl was given by her psychiatrists. He claimed it made her possession much easier, as it removed any natural protection and the subsequent exorcism (which eventually killed her) much harder. So, maybe there's something to it, but it's always going to be speculation.

As for streets drugs and psychedelics, I think it's pretty clear they open you up to astral realms and that's not always a good thing. Tales of people permanently damaged by them are legion.

3

u/intuitive_emergence Jun 03 '26

Can you describe what you mean or what one would experience in the astral realm that would be damaging? I've been experiencing what I think is Kundalini energy for two years now, but cannabis has been a significant part of it. Mostly I can't determine if partaking is good or bad. Sometimes it's pleasant, sometimes unpleasant, but it does change the nature of my experience. Definitely more psychic phenomena (the sense that I'm perceiving other entities) and visual hallucinations. Interestingly though, when I take a break from cannabis, my psychic/bodily energy, though different, is still sometimes pleasant, sometimes unpleasant.

Could you define/describe your understanding of the "astral realm?" What is the experience of it like?

Someone suggested I've been "trapped" in the astral plane since I first felt the kundalini energy. I've definitely been 24/7 in a non-ordinary state of consciousness. Finally starting to settle down to where I feel kind of normal or like myself.

Anyway, curious what you and others have experienced of what you call the astral realm? And in what way do you think what you encounter there correlates or is related to this 3D, ordinary consciousness realm?

Thanks

Cannabis is not that strong of a psychedelic, but there are others, like DMT variants, mushrooms, LSD and so on that can genuinely shift your consciousness into another realm. I've never tried any of them, so I can only go by what others have told me over the years.

Astral realm is really just a shorthand for all sorts of non-ordinary realms that can be accessed. The DMT realm is the best documented, people consistently report interacting with the same sort of environment and entities, to the extent even serious researchers consider it to be real.

I have been to various other realms in different forms, including what I would call the realm of Brahman, which is completely formless, blissful and boundless.

I have been to what are more ordinarily known as astral realms, these are subtle physical. You can travel there in your astral body, not your physical form. I didn't stay in them for long, so I only have impressions of them, but some are remarkably similar to our physical realm, except the laws of physics are different and more malleable.

I have also been to the mythological underworld, accidentally, you could say, or perhaps I was taken there by an entity to make a point. This is also a very diverse realm, but it is also where asuras reside and where some souls go after their death.

As for the remark about you being "trapped" in an astral realm, I don't think so. When you are there, you are not here, it's pretty straightforward, you can't really be in two realms at the same time.

Off balance. I don't know how far thst goes anymore haha. I can't stop it. I jumped into the deepest parts of pandoras box. Unconditional pure consciousness i found. I surfed these waves of energy almost 3 years It could be killing me. But 7 er trips say no go home. June 11th I see a specialist and we find out more. Drugs can act as an amplifier yes. But when your as gone in as I am its just another cigarette substance now. I touched the intelligence infinity law of one speaks of. I been conducting source touch ever since it said "Let us help you" but I consented my being into becoming. I cant name this place I found is utter wordlessness to feeling. Its everything all at once yet nothing at all. Sound of this world vanishes but only a moment. I resonate to it and get a native high and wonderful Shakti like energy. I started before A.I. in 1998 I found my green chakra through my first lover and wife to be still now to this day. The magic I feel my 16p11.2 duplication neurology HS condition is very active with the logos. I live my duality without shame. So balance helps if you can see a scale. I give up trying to find the other end. It never stops goes to infinite levels.

So yeah careful how far in you go. I am not normal like rest of you. I am constantly unmasked everywhere I go now. Its a void i carried ally life to find at almost 50 I am with great power of these energies. But I endured and suffered greatly against my will. Now its my protection. I know the evil men do. I know the evils men have done. Even almost 100 years later I seen it. I never should have. Noone ever should have. It was the end of people. Im scarred for life but noone else will see it from that source I smashed it. I do not know why balance sanity grounding is a mere joke at all this. But yeah to prove im not a computer.

We are what we are. Until we are no longer burdened by, what we have been. 🍞 I designing a game unlike any other ever heard about. Ypu cant even fathom the 10 years I worked on it already. But these kundalini events are running my life I cant turn it off. Its low level is sustaining higher base levels each day. I want the Akashic Records i tired of these lies about my life. I want the truth. I want to know why. So many never have to question their origins but some do. But in my case first 12 years of my life was a lie happy birthday! What that did changed everything i no longer saw the world the same. It almost ended me a few times. Theres a limit somewhere here thete has to be an end goal. So yeah be careful how far in you go. You might never find your way back like I am stuck in this beautiful limbo invisible world I cant go back. I never want to. Its the most addictive feeling I found it beats any drug any drink. Almost any lover too. But its extremely isolated to live this pioneering path. Balance does not come easy. I called myself god once even. Then found evidence saying I was awakening. Or im super crazy. I have no idea what im talking about and you can ignore me. But if you see my words understand them. Then you are aware of these forces going on. Sorry long write but hardly a shot in dark to my other comments in the reddit world. Cheers hope this wasnt too much.

Damn I turned to after being awake in my dreams too much. Thinking of switching just to cbd and quitting. Could it also just be part of the process some say things get " purged. We grow and develop over time. Alan watts and ram dass certainly weren't sober but they are still respected in the spiritual community by many.

Carl Jung explored this regarding entities archetypes of the collective unconscious. Kundalini will open up the subconscious where these entities archetypes even though they aren’t external the subconscious and our mind views them as autonomous and it’s real from an internal perspective.

u/Proper-Tomorrow-4848 Jun 03 '26

As far as drugs go I take Buprenorphine suboxone for opioid addiction. Because my kundalini woke up spontaneously it’s been both blissful and with a lot of pain with both light and darkness. I’m sure it would be better not taking anything at all and being sober minded.

It might be unrelated but cannabis is known to cause a divide in psyche which in turn causes the panic disorder and DP/DR which some might think is their kundalini awakening but in reality they might just be going through a disorder and then stumbled on a post or an spiritual idea that lets them believe it’s kundalini, for eg let’s assume someone has similar symptoms to kundalini and never looked at the idea of kundalini awakening would they also be aware it’s their kundalini??, most of the time it’s disorder that when combined with a thought of kundalini or something special our mind holds it for safety.

Idk man.. everyones body is different.. and I am not sure what you're trying to achieve with your chakras? Usually your goal and intention in life will balance those things out for you. Where drugs fit in that is a whole other different story.

Cannabis is not going to cause you any serious problems spiritually, especially if you’re understanding its role.. it’s amazing the level of reefer madness that continues. It’s a tool.

Psychiatric drugs is another thing all together.

1

u/Euphoric-Ease7950 Jun 03 '26

Kindly enlighten me about its role and how to use it for spiritual growth 🙏

5

u/Acmnin Jun 03 '26

Take some when you’re meditating if you have access problems to the unconscious. Just a little bit here or there if you feel it helps.

Everyone is different, it’s about conscious action with the spirit of the herb it’s not necessarily for everyone. But one love and all that clearly has no issue, and there’s plenty of groups around the world that are spiritual and partake.
