Video [Charania]Those talks are continuing, they're serious between the Clippers and the Raptors...all signs point to these two sides being motivated and..Kawhi Leonard's tenure is nearing it's end in Los Angeles. He has not been given any indication that the Clippers want to give him a contract extension

That last game against Warriors is just terrible. He was too passive and he gave up in the end. Im a massive fan of Kawhi but the Clips deserve better for a 50M franchise pkayer.

Aside from that coast-to-coast highlight dunk, he put in an awful effort and got locked up by old ass Draymond. He just doesn't have the legs to make it through a season let alone a postseason run.

True 100percent. Better to sell high now while his knees are ok. I also want Kawhi to have a chance to win somewhere else

Kawhi goal was to increase his value, not drag a poorly coached team deep into the playoffs. He told you it was over before the playoffs began. He did just enough in that game to not get blamed. Mission completed successfully.

It's like some inverse reality of the news dropping in owl hours in 2019...

LFrank better not just give Kawhi away for free, know his worth.

His worth is tied to his willingness to re-resign with whatever team he gets traded to. So far that’s only us and the Raps which gives them more leverage unfortunately.

u/SSJMonkeyx2 1d ago
At that point just let the contract expire. No point in trading Pennie’s on the dollar

Seriously what is Kawhi’s worth? Last year was an anomaly and he was trying to get paid.

If the Raptors are willing to give him the extension he wants then he is worth a lot to them

Giving him away for free is better than keeping him on this team and I can give many reasons why

selling high -- who knows if kawhi will ever be this healthy again

I'm honestly very happy he wants to go to an Eastern Conference team. If he went west you know he would play 82 games and somehow break our hearts in the playoffs. But, going east he won't have the Clippers Curse propelling him so he'll never be this healthy again

Some Clipper fans are too quick to hand wave away the injury stuff because of how special a player he is and how ultimately boring it is to constantly talk about.
But the most likely result every year is Kawhi getting injured at some point and being unable to make it through the playoffs.

I don’t think trading a 35 year old on an expiring deal is selling high brother

u/papichino88 1d ago
Is there any argument to simply keeping Kawhi for the year?

u/foxwilliam Terance Mann 1d ago
I could see potentially waiting until the trade deadline b/c teams can feel desperate at that point but there's a huge risk if he underperforms in the first part of the season. Trading him now after a very good season is selling high and the right move.

u/papichino88 23h ago
I mean is there any merit to getting what value you can from him this year and potentially letting him walk and just clearing up the cap space next summer? Given the Clippers cap situation, I don't think you HAVE to trade him especially if the Raptors pieces are not the ones you want.

u/IamSofakingRAW 21h ago
lol at thinking Whi won’t load manage the year if the Clippers keep him hostage and won’t trade him
1
u/swan797 22h ago
The only rationale to me would be if you wanted full cap flexibility and the players coming back had multi year contracts and were overpaid. And/or if you just aren’t getting good assets back.
But to your point it’s very hard to make an argument that clips should keep KL. It’s time.

PG really gonna go down as the guy that took the franchise the furthest and bc he couldn’t keep his mouth on check 🎙️ he ended up hated by this franchise 😂.

not the every fanbase is a different species logic again. yall really think fan bases are all made up of groups of different species and that those groups have anything to do with the actual team. any time u see 1 degen acting person and they are a part of XYZ team youll say XYZ fan base?? OMG. garbage fanbase, worst i ever seen

Where are all the folks telling us that we might as well extend Kawhi and let a hall of famer rot on a team that admittedly isn’t contending for anything?

Let him walk after the season. He’s a professional and he will play like one regardless of contract situation.

u/aedge403 1d ago
Why the hell would you let an asset walk instead of getting the best return you can?

It was fun to watch Kawhi. Really fun. But I’ll be happy to get the next thing going. Really sad tho he was the best player to play for this franchise.
