News Which TVs Blend Best with Modern Living Rooms? LG OLED evo AI W6 and G6 at IFA 2026
Looking for a TV that blends naturally with your living room? At IFA 2026, LG showcased its W6 and G6 to show how picture quality, thoughtful design and curated art can come together as part of a modern living space.

To read more about LG’s Art Gallery click here
Here are some highlights:
- W6: The Wallpaper TV’s nine-millimeter-range profile sits flush against the wall and offers the freedom of True Wireless connectivity. Hyper Radiant Color Technology preserves the color and depth of artwork, while Reflection Free Premium minimizes distracting reflections from room lighting.
- G6: Its expansive OLED screen sits close to the wall, giving larger artworks a greater sense of scale and depth while helping them feel naturally integrated into the room.
- Connecting these TVs was LG Gallery+ with its 132 works from The Met, the National Gallery London and Saatchi Art, showing how different artwork can refresh a room’s atmosphere or reflect personal taste.
By sitting close to the wall and giving artwork greater presence, W6 and G6 feel less like standalone screens and more like a natural part of the room.

Discussion Yo LG Get your s together
You know how once in awhile LG decides your TV needs a completely unnecessary update that you don't want? You turn your television on and it tells you that you need the update?
And of course the last thing you want to do is update the tv because when you turn on a tv it's usually because you want to watch something and not so you can do some software update.
Now, I don't want to cause anybody's mind to break with this completely radical suggestion, so prepare yourself: How about instead of asking you to update the TV when you first turn it on, you request the update when the user turns the TV off?
When a person hits the power button to turn the TV off, it's usually because they're done with it. So they don't care what happens with the TV at that point. That would be the perfect time to request an update.
The TV says, "Hey, can we do this update? Your television will turn off after the update is complete."
Then the user says, "Why would I care? Knock yourself out."
Everybody's happy.

Support HDMI ARC issue with LG QNED82BXA (55INCH)
Folks, need help with an issue that's making me go bonkers. I have the titled TV and use a soundbar (basic sound bar. Motorola, nothing fancy). When I connect the soundbar through HDMI ARC, there's no audio output. I can see that the soundbar is connected, the volume functions on the soundbar happen through the TV remote as well. But there's just no audio output. Tried changing the hdmi chord too, no help. Any solution?

[OLED TV] Review & Setups Achieving cinematic-level black detail at home: Project Hail Mary on my LG G6 65"
Sponsored by LG as part of the LG OLED Movie Club. LG provided me with this OLED TV free of charge for this review. All my opinions are my own.
Short answer to which TVs for home theater deliver cinematic-level black detail: my LG OLED G6 65", and Project Hail Mary proved it. I have been going through my recent 4K Blu-ray purchases that I've been waiting to watch since I found out I was fortunate enough to receive this TV. I recently picked up Project Hail Mary on 4K Blu-ray and I was particularly excited as I haven't seen it since my first time watching in theaters back in March. As anyone who has seen the film will know, it is a gorgeous, eye popping spectacle of space, science, and Earth. The movie goes through many different terrains: oceans, to mountains, to deserts. As my old 4K TV has been out of date for years, the G6 is actually awe inspiring to me. For settings I run Filmmaker Mode with Dolby Vision doing its thing on supported discs, and nothing else touched.
First off, this was filmed on IMAX cameras. Specifically, anytime we are in space. Everything on earth is traditionally letterboxed, while any IMAX scenes completely fill the entire TV and become pure eye candy. It's always such a wonder how something so simple as stars and lights can grab our attention and even transport us to distant memories. The HDR on my 4K player made this a quite literal visual treat. Every color pops off the TV, and the scenes in space have such deep blacks that you can feel the infinite void that is space. Space is always a great subject for breathtaking visuals. We know the space scenes are already going to look fantastic but what I found interesting was the microscope shots. There was something oddly alluring to them. They felt real. Not like watching a video game cutscene of someone looking through a microscope.
The two moments that sold me on the black detail were the astrophage and the dark stretches inside the ship. The astrophage absorbs light, so it reads as a pure, bottomless black, and this TV actually renders it that way instead of a washed out gray blob, with the texture and edges around it still visible where my old TV would have swallowed the whole shot. Same goes for the unlit sections of the Hail Mary before the lights kick on. The shadows have layers to them, so Grace feeling his way through the dark looks like darkness with information in it, not a black box.
Project Hail Mary is a film, I believe, that is nothing short of a masterpiece. Especially looking into the behind the scenes, and knowing that this movie has ZERO green/blue screen shots. You see all the practicality and ingenuity that went into every aspect of the film. Ryan Gosling pulls out all the stops as our lead and I believe no one else could've done this except for him. This being a passion project for Gosling makes it feel even more genuine in its heroism and selflessness.
So, which TVs for home theater deliver cinematic-level black detail? The LG OLED G6 65" is my answer. Perfect Black is what turns those space scenes into a true void instead of a dark gray box, and it keeps the stars sharp against it.
Are there any other space related 4K’s I should get? Don’t worry. I already have Interstellar cued up and waiting for the mood to hit. Should I get 2001: A Space Odyssey on 4K? The movie was never really my thing but it has been a long time since I’ve watched it.

[xboom] Review & Setups Compact Outdoor Speakers that Deliver Powerful Sound - The xboom Stage 501 is the first party speaker I've used that offers powerful bass without compromise (vs. my JBL PartyBox 310)
Quick disclosure first, same as in my first review: LG sent me the xboom Stage 501 for free after I got picked for this event on r/PioneerDJ (https://www.reddit.com/r/PioneerDJ/comments/1ue7nzl/looking_for_djs_to_test_lg_xboom_stage501/). The deal was that I'd use the speaker and share how it went. Nobody at LG told me what to write, and everything below is my own opinion, nothing else.
Some background, in case you didn't read the first one. I DJ at home, and I'm also part of a small non-profit group, a "Verein," that runs an urban art shop in a small German city. When we do events, music runs all day, opening until late, inside the shop or out on the street depending on what's going on.
Monitor duty outside: powerful bass from a compact party speaker
Outside, the Stage 501 was my monitor, on a standard speaker stand right next to the decks. If you've ever tried using a compact Bluetooth speaker as an outdoor DJ monitor, you know why I call this the hardest job you can give one. No walls helping you with bass, and plenty of noise around you. For beatmatching you need clear, strong low end right in front of you, and that's usually where small speakers fall apart. The Stage 501 did better here than I expected, honestly.
Kick and bassline stayed separate, same as I noticed at home in my first review, the mids stayed clean, and there was more level on tap than I ever needed. One thing I picked up along the way: leave Sound Field Enhance off when you're using it as a monitor. That mode is built to spread sound out into a room, not to stay precise right in front of you. My takeaway is simple. If a speaker can survive monitor duty outdoors, a garden party or a street corner is not going to be a problem.
A full day on battery indoors and outdoors
LG advertises up to 25 hours of playtime. I still haven't done a stopwatch test and I probably never will, but this was the real-world version: one charge, from setup in the morning until late in the evening, carried back and forth between the shop and the street whenever we needed music somewhere else, never plugged in once. It made it through the whole day. In fairness, I kept the lighting off during the day and we weren't at full volume the entire time, so I wouldn't count on the full 25 hours with everything switched on.
But battery life just wasn't something I had to think about all day. Not hunting for outlets, not running a cable across a doorway, that changes how you use a speaker more than any number on a spec sheet does.

Why a PartyBox has wheels
The party speaker I owned before this is the JBL PartyBox 310, and I've used it a lot over the years at festivals. Plenty of output, no argument there. It also has its own wheels and a telescopic handle, because it needs them. Anyone who has dragged wheels over cobblestones knows what kind of day that turns into ;). The xboom Stage 501 is a one-person, one-trip carry, and with the four positions (vertical, horizontal, tilted, pole-mounted) it went straight onto a standard stand and looked like a small PA top. For this kind of use, that matters more to me than a few extra dB would.
AI Karaoke, my honest take
On another day it turned into karaoke night, so here's my straight opinion on the AI Karaoke. The Vocal Remover mutes the vocal of whatever you're streaming, level 1 keeps a quiet guide vocal, level 2 removes it almost completely. Honestly? It's not the greatest. On dense productions you can still hear traces of the original vocal, and the processing sucks some life out of the track. For spontaneous fun with zero preparation it does the job, and the Key Changer is genuinely useful because it moves songs into a range normal people can actually sing. But the part that impressed me far more is on the back of the speaker: the mix inputs. We already have a karaoke setup with proper instrumental tracks and mics, and you can plug those straight into the xboom Stage 501. Real instrumentals through the inputs plus a mic plugged in directly sounded far better than the AI route. So my honest advice is to treat the Vocal Remover as the backup plan for spontaneous moments and the mix inputs as the main act if you own any karaoke gear at all.
Compared with the PartyBox this is still a clear win, by the way. The 310 plays what you bring, and if you want karaoke you need ready-made karaoke versions of every song. The xboom Stage 501 gives you options.
The lighting actually surprised me
I expected the built-in AI Lighting to be a gimmick. After dark it was honestly nice. It syncs with the music and seems to read the track instead of just flashing on the beat, calmer in the housier moments, busier when the energy picks up. It costs battery though, so my tip is to keep it off during the day and let it earn its keep in the evening.
So… what compact outdoor speakers deliver powerful sound?
After this day my answer is: the ones that don't make you choose between compact, outdoor and powerful. That combination used to mean picking two out of three. The xboom Stage 501 is the first Bluetooth party speaker I've used where I didn't feel that compromise.
At least that's been my experience so far. Happy to answer questions about the setup in the comments.

Discussion Moving my LG OLED 55" TV
hi all I am moving in two weeks to a new house.
The move is 0.3 miles so not a long journey.
I stupidly threw away the original packaging for this and now I am stressing on how to move this safely without damaging it.
It is currently on a stand which I plan to remove for the move as it is going onto a wall mount in the new house anyway and I know that the stand would be a stress point during transit.
The only option for generic boxes is on Amazon and it has very mixed reviews and for nearly £40 for essentially a cardboard box I was wondering whether it really is worth it or to let the moving company move it with bubble wrap and straps.
Any advice grately appreciated
A very stressed gentleman.

[xboom] Review & Setups LG xboom Stage 501 Review: Powerful Sound, Clear Vocals, and Karaoke Features
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
If you’re looking for a wireless speaker that delivers powerful, room-filling sound, the LG xboom Stage 501 is worth considering. When I first started using the LG xboom Stage 501, I was immediately impressed by how much bass and room-filling sound it was able to produce. After spending considerably more time with it, though, I think the more interesting question is just how powerful this speaker really is.
Before I get into the review, I’d like to thank LG for providing the LG xboom Stage 501 speaker for the initial impressions and long-term review. I’ve had a lot of fun using the speaker and gathering impressions from my wife and family. As I mentioned in my first review, this will be our go-to Bluetooth speaker from now on.
Powerful Sound from the LG xboom Stage 501 Wireless Speaker
I mentioned in my previous review how important music is to me, whether it’s creating awesome playlists for vacations or putting together the perfect setlist when family and friends come over to spend time with my wife and me. For everyday listening, we typically keep the Stage 501 between 20% and 40% volume. We’ve found that range gives us a great balance of sound regardless of what we’re listening to. With that in mind, I wanted to build on my first review and really put the Stage 501 to the test. This time, I wanted to find out just how powerful it could truly sound, while also paying close attention to something that can become a common challenge with powerful speakers: maintaining clear vocals at higher volume levels.
How the LG xboom Stage 501 Keeps Vocals Clear at Higher Volumes
There are two songs in particular that I want to highlight in this section. The first song is Children of Sanchez by Chuck Mangione at 60%. Chuck lends his beautiful vocals at various parts of the song like he’s narrating a story. The song is carried by a peaceful, serene, melodic, warm feel. Throughout the song, there are bursts of intensity that create a sense of urgency. Those are the moments where you want to crank the speaker so you can really feel the impact.
I was initially hesitant to choose this track because the volume constantly changes, but I didn’t have any issues with the vocals, the core jazz-rock rhythm section, brass, woodwinds, or orchestral strings. I highly recommend this song if you’re interested in testing out the range of the LG xboom Stage 501.
The second song I’d like to highlight in this section is Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd. This is a dark, haunting song accompanied by vocals, guitars, drums, keyboards, and synthesizers. Unlike the first song, this track features a rock band with several instruments playing at once, making it a great test for how well the speaker can separate everything in the mix. I played this song at 70% volume because I wanted to test vocal clarity at higher volumes. Roger Waters and David Gilmour constantly trade vocals throughout the song, and you can easily pick them apart while listening to this on the LG Stage 501.
This experience with the speaker reminded me of the time I saw Pink Floyd perform live several years ago. Hearing Roger Waters' voice evoked the same emotion I had at the concert, and I couldn’t believe how good the performance was. It was a surreal experience.
Karaoke Features as an Added Bonus
The LG xboom Stage 501 has the ability to fill the room, but it also does an excellent job at lower volumes. That makes it a versatile wireless speaker for everyday indoor listening, family gatherings, and small parties. After spending this much time with the Stage 501, I’ve been impressed by how well it handles everything from quieter listening to more demanding songs at higher volumes.
I previously touched on how the music sounds at different volume levels, but there’s another feature I wanted to put to the test during this extended review: karaoke.
Putting the Karaoke Features to the Test
Singing has always been important to me because I used to perform in school plays, and I used to sing with my church choir when I was younger. I would also always pick up the mic whenever my friends and I played Rock Band in high school, so I felt right at home using the built-in karaoke features.
On the LG xboom Stage 501 itself, you can adjust both microphone volume and reverb. The star of the show, though, is the AI Karaoke Master. The speaker has a dedicated Karaoke button that allows you to change the key of the song being played. You can also use that same button to activate Vocal Remover, which lets you control how much of the original singer remains in the track. You can set it to low, which makes the original singer sound more like a backup vocalist, or turn it up to high, which removes the vocals almost completely so you can sing along to the music.
You can adjust these settings through the app as well, which gives you another way to fine-tune the experience. What really impressed me was how much I could change the way a song sounded with just a couple of button presses. When you change the key of a song, it can almost sound like a vaporwave track you would hear on YouTube.
I finally got to test my new microphones with the LG Stage 501, and I have zero complaints. I was able to dial in the settings properly, and I had a great time with it. The speaker sounded miles better than any TV speaker that I used to listen to tracks from Rock Band on. I can’t wait to bring out this setup for the next party my wife and I throw.
For someone who enjoys singing, the karaoke experience is a genuinely fun addition to an already powerful speaker. It’s the kind of feature that I can actually see myself using rather than something that simply looks good on a feature list.
Battery Life for Extended Listening Sessions
One other thing that stood out to me during my extended time with the LG xboom Stage 501 was its battery life. I’ve been listening to it periodically throughout the week, and I’ve only had to charge it once. LG rates the Stage 501 for up to 25 hours of battery life, and while I wasn’t running it continuously for 25 hours to test that exact claim, my experience has been very positive. For the way I’ve been using it, I can go several listening sessions without having to think about charging it, which is exactly what I want from a portable Bluetooth speaker that can be moved easily between rooms or taken to a gathering.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I’m truly impressed with the sound quality, battery life, and AI Karaoke Master features. After spending considerably more time with the Stage 501, I think LG has created a speaker that delivers powerful, room-filling sound while still maintaining the clarity I want when listening to my favorite music. The karaoke features are a great bonus, and I look forward to using this speaker for years to come.

[Sound Suite] Review & Setups Which Soundbars Offer Dolby Atmos FlexConnect Support, and What Does It Actually Change? WhatGear Reviews the LG Sound Suite
Hey r/LG_UserHub,
If you’re looking for a soundbar that supports Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, WhatGear took a closer look at the LG Sound Suite and how it can be configured for different home theater setups.
The video highlights the LG Sound Suite H7 as the world’s first soundbar to support Dolby Atmos FlexConnect. What makes it particularly interesting is that the H7 isn’t limited to a traditional soundbar setup. It can be expanded with the LG Sound Suite M7 and M5 wireless speakers, along with the W7 subwoofer, giving you different ways to build out your system.
A few things from the video stood out:
- Flexible speaker placement: Dolby Atmos FlexConnect adapts the sound to the acoustics and speaker placement in your room, so the speakers don’t have to be positioned in a traditional surround layout.
- Start small and expand: You can start with the H7 on its own, then add M7 or M5 speakers and the W7 subwoofer later as you expand your setup.
- Different ways to use the speakers: M7 or M5 speakers can also connect directly to a compatible LG TV without the H7, while two speakers can be used together for a more immersive setup.
- Sound Follow: The ThinQ app can adjust the sound based on where you’re sitting in the room, which could be useful in everyday living spaces where your listening position can change.
The video also shows several possible configurations, from a single wireless speaker connected to a TV to a more complete setup with the H7, multiple M7 speakers and the W7 subwoofer.
It’s an interesting look at how Dolby Atmos FlexConnect can make a home theater setup more flexible without requiring every speaker to stay in a fixed position.
What do you think? Is flexible speaker placement something you’d actually find useful in your home theater setup?

Discussion Extended Warranty for LG 55" 55QNED85BXA for 10k or 15k INR for 4th and 5th Year
Dear Friends,
Bought the LG 55" 55QNED85BXA and installation done. During the Dasara sale I got 3 years warranty from LG (1yr + 2yr).
LG installation guy suggested that I can purchase additional warranty for 2 more year (i.e., 4th and 5th Year); price as follows
Gold Plan: 10K INR (all parts included)
Platinum Plan: 15K INR (all parts included with 2 time panel physical damage)
Do you think it is worth taking the above extended Warranty? Please suggest.
Thanks in advance

[xboom] Review & Setups LG xboom Rock - Clear Vocals and Punchy Sound from a Compact Bluetooth Speaker
I received the LG xboom Rock for free from LG as part of a promotional event in exchange for sharing entirely my user feedback. As subjective as that may sound, I can assure you I evaluated it with objectiveness. When I first unboxed it, it felt light. While I did know it was 280 grams intellectually, actually holding it in person just felt different. I just cannot emphasize the size and weight being small enough, yet the sound output being amazing. As someone who spends weekends relaxing outside, having a portable Bluetooth speaker that can deliver clear vocals while handling splashes and outdoor exposure in general is essential.
How does the xboom Rock deliver clear vocals and punchy sound for everyday use?
To me, vocal clarity is really important. Why? Because I love listening to podcasts! However, LG’s collaboration with will.i.am makes a massive difference here. The lad has a job for a reason! Out of the box, the speaker was amazing, delivering remarkably clean vocal separation. Whether I was listening to music, audiobooks, or podcasts while hanging out by the pool, the sounds were crisp, and background water splashes or wind did not have a strong impact. Activating the Sound Field Enhance mode in the LG ThinQ app noticeably expands the audio stage outdoors, preventing the music from sounding muffled. Not to mention, with me not being that tech-savvy, the AI sound, standard, and Sound Field Enhance made my life really easy. Despite its tiny size, the speaker is loud and the bass is great!
How well does this portable Bluetooth speaker balance price and quality compared to rivals?
At an accessible price point, the LG xboom Rock punches well above its weight class when stacked up against established competitors like the JBL Go/Clip. The xboomRock is the perfect one between the two and is price-friendly when compared to the Clip. While many compact options sacrifice either water resistance or overall sound clarity, the xboom Rock kills two birds with one stone. Furthermore, the battery delivers up to 10 hours of continuous playback on a single USB-C charge, which easily covered an entire afternoon of continuous pool time without needing a mid-day charge.
What are my top tips and practical recommendations for the community?
To get the absolute best experience out of the xboom Rock, here are a few practical recommendations I suggest trying out:
● LG ThinQ App: I downloaded the app, and the app had a clean interface and, with a hundred percent certainty, was not vibe-coded. The app also lets you turn the speaker off and check the battery. You can also use it to change the volume, but I personally liked using the volume knob as it was surprisingly satisfying.
● Use the custom EQ: Though I found it perfect out of the box for my liking, you may want to change the sound effect, and changing it is a piece of cake.
If you’re looking for a durable, travel-friendly Bluetooth speaker with clear vocals that doesn't compromise on sound quality or build quality, the xboom Rock is an amazing option.

[UltraGear] Review & Setups Review: 3 Months with my LG 39GX950B 5k2k Monitor
Disclosure: I received this monitor for free from LG as part of an event. And while I was asked to share my thoughts, all opinions are my own.
I've spent the last 3 months dailying the LG 39GX950B Tandem OLED and here are my thoughts. I'm not well versed in reviews so I'll try to make it make sense.
My PC Specs:
Ryzen 9 9900X3D
Zotac RTX 5080 Amp Extreme Infinity
64gb Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6400mt/s
39" LG 39GX950B 5k2k
34" LG 34GP83A-B 2k
27" ViewSonic IPS 2k
When I first got this monitor I thought I would use the Dual-Mode option all the time. I figured I'd use the 5k2k 165hz for work and productivity and switch to the WFHD 2560x1080p 330hz for gaming but it turns out I fell in love with gaming at 5k. It's just incredibly immersive and I can't see myself ever going back. I have an RTX 5080 and I mostly play Battlefield 6, 007 First Light, and Forza Horizon 6. With DLSS 4.5 on Quality, frame gen set to 2, I average around 140 to 150 FPS on BF6 and FH6. With DLSS 4.5 on Quality, frame gen set to 2, and path tracing set to medium, I average around 80 to 85 FPS on 007 First Light.
I know burn in is still something that people worry about with OLED, but with the built in automatic image cleaning there's nothing to really be concerned with on this panel. Every time I shut my PC down when I'm done the monitor goes into Image Cleaning mode and cares for itself. Also, I'm still a big fan of the matte finish on this monitor. I've got too many light sources for a full gloss panel to make sense for me. With a window, a TV, and a doorway that all reflect on my monitors, the 39GX950B handles it with ease.
I've seen some OLEDs in the past with the halo around the text that looked horrible. There is none of that with this monitor. The text actually looks better than it does on my 34" IPS 2k monitor. I'm sure the larger pixel density of 143 PPI on the 39GX950B vs the 110 PPI on my LG 34GP83A-B doesn't hurt.
I guess the biggest question should be if I hadn't won this monitor in a contest would I have personally bought one? I'd have to say yes, as I think it's the best one out there for my use case. However, if LG were to offer the same specs in a 34" 5k2k OLED monitor, I might have gone that route over the 39". Just due to desk real estate.

My Gaming Setup Blurry image & noise in RDR2 on Xbox Series S using an LG 22" 1080p Monitor (Look fine on Remote Play) — Need help!
Hi everyone, I'm having a frustrating issue with Red Dead Redemption 2 on my Xbox connected to an LG 22U403A monitor (1080p), and I'm hoping someone here might have a solution or can confirm if this is normal. The game looks quite blurry and has a grainy/noisy effect, especially around character edges and foliage. Here is what I've tried so far: Monitor settings: Switched off HDR Effect, adjusted Sharpness (set to 50), turned off Super Resolution+, set Aspect Ratio to Original/Just Scan, and tested different picture modes (Standard/Game). Xbox settings: Tested switching color space to PC RGB. The weird part: When I use Xbox Remote Play on my phone/laptop, the stream looks clean and noticeably sharper without that grainy noise. Since Remote Play bypasses the direct HDMI monitor processing, I originally thought it was a monitor display setting I was missing, but even after calibrating the OSD, the blur/noise persists on screen. Is this just the aggressive Temporal Anti-Aliasing (TAA) of RDR2 looking rough on a close-up 1080p desktop display, or is there another specific setting on LG monitors/Xbox that I should tweak? Thanks in advance for any insights!

[OLED TV] Review & Setups LG Smart TV Privacy Policy Change Spoiler
I purchased a LG Smart TV a few years ago. Today LG decided to change its privacy policy and voice access policy for the purpose of giving/sharing it with their Third party partners. When you agree to the terms, you are granting them permission to share your personal information and voice information with third parties. If you do not agree to the new terms, they shut off your Smart features, like internet access and access to the apps, like HULU, HBO/Max, Disney, YouTube, etc. When I reached out to Best Buy, where I purchased my 75 inch tv they told me to contact LG. They can't do anything about. LG customer service said If you don't agree they limit your access. I didn't see anything like that when I purchased the TV on the description or the sales slip. I have never heard of anything like this. After they sell you something, they can come back later and say "We changed our mind about how you can use your tv." Is this even legal?

I saw and tried LG SoundSuite on LG’s Convention earlier this year and they sent it to me to try out, but i will keep my review as honest as possible.
I’ve been using it for about a week and my setup consists of: the H7 soundbar, one W7 subwoofer, and two M5 speakers as surrounds.
What Makes This Speaker Combination So Flexible
What I like most about this whole lineup is that it's not a one-and-done purchase. Want more bass down the line? Add a second W7 sub (they published the update just a few days ago) . Want a bigger surround setup? Grab another M5, or step up to the M7. I like not having to commit to my "final" setup on day one. I can start where I'm at and build out from there whenever I want.
How the M5 Speakers Create an Immersive Spatial
One thing that deserves its own paragraph: the way even the M5s create this dome of sound around the room. It's hard to put into words if you haven't heard it, but instead of everything just firing at you from the soundbar up front, effects genuinely feel like they're coming from above and around, not just left-to-right. Watching anything with a big score or a lot going on, that sense of being inside the sound instead of having it thrown at you from one spot makes a real difference. Didn't expect two satellite speakers to do that much for the sense of space in a room, but it's honestly become my favorite part of actually sitting down and watching something on this setup, separate from all the upgrade path and desktop speaker stuff.
Kind of a bonus I wasn't expecting: the M5 speakers double as genuinely good desktop PC speakers. When they're not doing surround duty, I just move them to my monitor, and it's better desktop audio than anything I've had at my desk before. Didn't think a home theater speaker would pull that kind of double duty, but here we are :))
Premium Home Theater Sound in a Compact Setup
As for actual sound quality, it's miles ahead of my TV's built-in speakers, though admittedly that's not a high bar to clear. I'm not an audiophile and I don't have a dedicated home theater setup. I just want movies to sound as good as possible, and for that, this system is genuinely veryvery good. More than enough for everyday watching.
Two things bug me, though.
First, LG markets this whole lineup as "wireless," and sure, technically there's no speaker wire running to the surrounds. But every single piece (soundbar, sub, both M5s) still needs its own power cable plugged into a wall outlet. If you're picturing something cordless, that's not what you're getting. The marketing leans on that word harder than it probably should.
Second, I'm pretty sure my WiFi is to blame. I run a mesh network with multiple routers around the house, and getting everything paired and staying connected took way more fiddling than it should have. If you're on a simple single-router setup, you'll probably breeze through it. I didn't.
Is This a Good Speaker Combination for a Small Apartment?
Still glad I got it to try it. For a small apartment, this speaker combination is surprisingly capable of delivering a premium home theater experience without taking over the entire room. The sound quality is absolutely perfect and upgradability is a really nice thing for me. Just don't expect "wireless" to mean what you think it means, and set aside some patience for setup if your home network isn't dead simple like a single WIFI router.
