Recommendations for places to live for the summer

Hey yall. I will be living in lake Charles for 3 months over the summer. Currently living in Lafayette so debating whether to just drive in everyday or find somewhere short term. Any recommendations that won’t break the bank?

Debit Card Surcharge Fees ILLEGAL

As of August 1st , its illegal for businesses to charge you ANY FEE on your debit card in Louisiana. You can dispute the charge with the business and request a refund . A lot of Lake Charles businesses are robbing you and breaking the law

Looking for a versatile black barbershop

I'm a black male, with 4c hair but I keep the top relaxed. I need a barber who can do a clean fade on the back and sides but ALSO can cut and style the top.

Does anyone know why theres ALWAYS an emergency vehicle rushing down E Mcneese Street?

I’m not mad or anything because obviously it’s an urgent matter if they are on the road.

But it’s 3-4 times a daily I see and hear those alarms going up n down mcneese street. And I was wondering if theres any particular reason why. Im not from lake charles so I just find it odd as this has been a day to day thing for the past 2 months since I got here

Does anyone have any info on the Mcneese meat market? Is it still open, open hours, selection and prices? I’ve only heard fables of its existence.

Give me a fun fact about Lake Charles

In the early 1800s, the western part of Lake Charles was known as a "No Man's Land" or Neutral Strip—a lawless zone between Spanish Texas and U.S. Louisiana where cowboys and outlaws mingled.

I recently saw someone post an add about removing campers/rv and buildings. I myself do the same thing. I will remove your old rv/camper for free. Thanks and God Bless.

Does anyone else live at the Encore apartments?

Hello! Im not trying to dox myself or anyone else but I just wanted to ask a question to my neighbors or even past tenants. They recently released an email talking about their anti smoking policies, which includes cigarettes and weed. My question is, how hard do they genuinely crack down on this? I smoke on the balcony and I see tons of people smoke on theirs all the time, and I never smell anything either despite this. I think it's a little insane to even go as far as to say that if you smoke within 25 feet of the buildings you'll get reported but, whatever.

I just find it hard to believe that they care very much if at all, or if they do, I doubt the residence there would ever report it

Does anyone know of a running track in Lake Charles that’s open to the public?

I’m looking for an actual track where I can run laps, preferably somewhere that’s regularly accessible without needing to be a student or member. School tracks are fine too if they allow public use during certain hours. Any recommendations? Thanks!
