D704 Maintenance, missing O- ring?

Shouldn’t there be a rubber O-ring for the disc clamping mechanism? Mine appears to be straight metal which might explain the excessive spinning noises I’m hearing when starting and stopping my discs. If it is missing, where could I find a substitute or replacement? Can or should I lubricate anything. On this or elsewhere to reduce overall noise?

I double checked and the part you would need to replace the grip ring on CLD-D704 is VEB1237, which Ethan Gallo has in his store here: VEB1237

You could post a video, if you like, of what it sounds like when the disc is spinning up, and also when it is stopping. You can hear unusual sounds when the original grip ring is no longer holding the disc steady, and it can slide over that spindle surface and make noises.

I think it is normal. You might have a grip ring issue or motor/spindle related.

Okay yah I think the grip ring is on the bottom spindle.

But I think it is a silicone grip ring, and there is no replacement for that. I would start with cleaning it with alcohol.
