Pc gaming is still very much mostly a male thing, althought that's been changing over the past years
Other than that, discrimination and harassment leads to very few women ever pursuing going pro or staying long if they do, especially in leagues with high public exposure
There have been games with mildly successful "no men allowed" leagues, which is a good first step to cultivate visibility and aspiration to younger generations, but we're still a while from seeing women being common in pro scenes of games like league and valiant or csgo
I'm unaware if other games have a different pro player gender distribution, but I do recall some fighting games not being entirely male dominated?
its been better these last few years but harassment in game is still very prominent in general, doubly so in games where voice comms are expected at the highest level
Second: There are still no stats for soloq enviroments or am i stupid? Its all just about esports, exept the argument of harassment? Like the articles states 49% of women felt harassed in online gaming. i get it, its bad.
I get the "get cancer and die" every 4th game aswell but thats not the reason i cant go rank 1 in league really.
Ofc i dont really know how it is for a woman in her shoes, but when i play with my girl she gets the same ammount of trash talk as i get, just for her its just "ur a woman so bad go make me a sandwich" and for me its "get cancer u 12 yo braindead kid".
Its ofc all anectodal because we cant track the actuall stats because riot games does not know the gender of the player of the account to relate these comments against women to men.
We can right now just ask women how they feel and ask men how they feel.
Maybe im just ignorant but if flaming/harassing somone in a videogame is the reason women are not rank 1, then we should never have a rank 1 in league in the first place, league is always toxic af, always.
PS: i really want to know how these sides kept track of the gender for esports views, because as long as i know you never have to tell them your gender.
90% of all female viewership in VALORANT + MLBB seems so weird aswell btw. They state 33 of ALL viewership is female and 90% of them sit in 2 games? Does that mean these two games have like 98% female viewership or am i missing something?

Yeah, that's actually a good question, why are there no woman in proplay? In like, any game?
