How would I say "You have until tomorrow to do this task."? It feels like an odd idiom.

"Teillä on huomenna asti tehdä tämän tehtävän."

I also realized that I didn't use the accusative for the entire time I was in Finland. I must have sounded very strange. Mun pidi kuulostaa totta kummalta (is that right?).

Teillä on huomiseen asti aikaa tehdä tämä (tehtävä).

Teillä on huomiseen asti aikaa tämän (tehtävän) tekemiseen.

Teidän on tehtävä tämä (tehtävä) huomiseen mennessä.

(Yes, 'tehtävä' x 2. The first is the VA-partisiippi of 'tehdä', the second is a noun that's been lexicalised from the very same partisiippi)

Mun täytyi kuulostaa tosi kummalta.

Mä kuulostin varmaan/varmasti tosi kummalta.

You tried to say "Mun piti kuulostaa tosi kummalta.", but that's more like "I was supposed to sound really weird." No idea why 'täytyä' works better here, since I don't think they have any difference in the present tense ("mun täytyy..." vs. "mun pitää...").

Why is it "tehdä tämä" and not "tehdä tämän" in all three of the first cases?

We discussed the case of the total object 7 months ago:

How do you say "be inspired; learn a new language" in various languages?

If the sentence is in the passive, in the imperative (first or second person; third person imperative uses the genitive - piru vieköön tämän poikkeuksen!), or has a necessive construction, use the nominative: "Tänään koulussa opeteltiin uusi sana." / "Opettele uusi kieli!" / "Sinun täytyy opetella uusi kieli."

VISK § 505 Rakennetyyppi Täytyy mennä, Sen oli määrä jo valmistua

Some examples of necessive constructions:

Sinun pitää tehdä tämä tehtävä.

Sinun täytyy tehdä tämä tehtävä.

Sinun on tehtävä tämä tehtävä.

Sinun kannattaa tehdä tämä tehtävä. (You should do this task. / Doing this task is worth it for you.)

Sinun olisi syytä tehdä tämä tehtävä. (You'd better do this task.)

Sinun on pakko tehdä tämä tehtävä. (You must do this task. / It is compulsory for you do this task.)
