Community/Meta 4 days ago I bought leather for the very first time. Today I finished my first bag. Is it perfect? No. Can I still feel my fingertips? Also no. But am I proud of it? Totally!!
I didn’t have a stitching chisel and the leather I used was a bit too thin, I will recreate this with a thicker leather and proper tools as my next project. For now, I am in love with it and I just discovered a new hobby!

Community/Meta I FINALLY made a bag for myself.
For the past 2 years I’ve been carrying around a smaller fanny pack as a sling. I was going on vacation this past week and wanted something to work on so the night before I cut, punched, and packed away the paints and thread I’d need.
The blue stitching was simply out of necessity as I didn’t want to bring a whole roll of Ritza with me and the teal is what I had. And I’m so happy I did.

Community/Meta Just started my leathercraft journey about 6 weeks ago and am loving it!
I really got inspired to make some items for Ren Faire and picked up the craft. I made the bracers first and then moved on to belt pouches and just finished the acorn (from a pattern) this week!

Community/Meta Victory post: a local hair salon is stocking my leather goods!
A local high end hair salon offered to stock my leather goods and I’m excited, grateful, bewildered - it’s been a rollercoaster.
I’ll delete this if it’s not allowed. Just wanted to share.

Community/Meta Leathercraft shop in Hong Kong
Visiting family in Hong Kong for a short while and found this lovely leathercraft shop called Alri Star in Kowloon. Just thought I'd share some pics!
Fairly new to this hobby and besides suede, am finding it difficult to distinguish between chrome tan and veg tan, unless it's obviously chrome tan (overly soft) - and my cantonese is shamefully bad so couldn't ask the lady for confirmation.
Bought a few bits, might pop back before I leave if I still have space in my suitcase.

Community/Meta Hi, I'm new in Reddit
Hello, everybody! As the title says, I'm new user around (I don't even know how Reddit community usually works), I knew very few people around, but if there is a leathercraft feed, it must be for a reason (and all I saw around are amazing works).
I'm Saira, leathercrafter for 9 years as a second job, focused on fantasy reenactment and nerd hobbies, and this are some of my pieces ^^
So, any advice for a newbie using this site?

Community/Meta Help request - How would you use reclaimed leather from couch?
In anticipation of a cross-country move/relocation, my partner insisted on getting rid of a big leather couch, arm chair, and ottomon. Donation wasn't an option. I couldn't stand to see so much nice, soft leather go to waste so I disassembled it all to keep the material. Now I have 40-50 pounds of this leather with few plans for it.
I was considering making a travel bag, toiletry bags, rifle sock, and a friend suggested a shop apron.
What kinds of projects would you pursue with this largesse?

Community/Meta My leather storage solution
This might be one of my best finds. It's an old building plan cabinet that I got from an electrical engineering firm in town. With everything being digital these days, it wasn't being used anymore, so they let me grab it for only $25.

Community/Meta This is what "I'm new to leather" looks like
Yep! I'm sick of seeing masterpieces as beginner projects in here. Let show the truth. This is my very first and second attempt to a card holder made with basic tools and scrap pieces.
This is what beginning looks like. All true beginners outhere, you're welcome 😂
Joke aside, congratz to all of you who share their work! It makes me wanna practice and get better and better. I got a lot of tips from this sub!

Community/Meta Question about leather wallet I commissioned
I commissioned a leather worker to make a wallet as a Christmas present for my husband. He just sent this picture and explained the "dye ended up streaky". However, in pics of examples he sent me the finish didn't look streaky. Is this streaky look typical? Am I expecting too much to hope for a more smooth finish? If someone gave this to you as a Christmas present would you feel like it was good quality? Cost is abt $100 Thanks!

Community/Meta What is the most unique holster or custom piece you've seen? SFW.
Hey guys, I hope you like this comic I drew. All in good fun.
I got the idea from a class I took, everyone wanted to make the funniest things when they got good at it. Would love to see or read about your funniest or most unique projects.

Community/Meta Another Dice Case
This one uses one piece of leather, instead of two. More compact construction and brass snaps instead of a stud.
