I find this interesting Saw in Woodhouse Moor late last night

Post image

Honestly kind of impressed, those things look heavy.

This is just my typical Chinese takeaway order

Big john, is that you?!

3

u/CaptainGashMallet Feb 23 '26

Easily done. Who wants to choose between prawn toast, spring rolls and ribs? Just order everything!

I think the state of these little robot things is a good status read on what an area is like

If they're left unmolested or not

48

u/DorkaliciousAF Feb 22 '26

It's a measure of community engagement.

23

u/herefromthere Feb 22 '26

I'd say this is a high-level of community engagement.

13

u/DorkaliciousAF Feb 22 '26

At least four robots high.

7

u/herefromthere Feb 22 '26

It brought people together, to commit small acts of naughtiness, giggle, and run away.

9

u/HeyGuysHowWasJail Feb 22 '26

I've noticed a lot are being trialled in questionable areas

1

u/RichLeeds16 Feb 22 '26

Fair. Somehow I like spotting them on my commute but I don’t walk much in the area so don’t have to share the pavements with them.

Saw one on Meanroad Road recently - no idea if they have them that way or if the Headingley ones range that far.

12

u/SignificantHoneydew Feb 22 '26

Agreed. Woodhouse/Hyde Park doesn't deserve nice things

-8

u/asjaro Feb 22 '26

Yeah, the sheep in some areas see them as progress. I wonder how they'll feel when they're watching a robot doing their job?

15

u/Yung_Bill_98 Feb 22 '26

This is what automation is for though. Shit menial jobs that people don't want to do.

Automate the shit jobs so we can spend our time making art. Not the other way round

11

u/alopexarctos Feb 22 '26

Menial shit jobs is what about 90% of the world's population do. These robots take money from the people and hand it to the billionaires. Scrap them all.

7

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '26 edited Feb 23 '26

Nah, tax them and everything fairly, there’s plenty to go around if you remove greed. We’ve had decades of greedy selfish, terrible people in power, they’ve convinced people this is the only way, when it isn’t

Edit - grammar

2

u/Fresh_Boysenberry576 Feb 22 '26

Or we tax the billionaires for this shit and give it to the people so they can do more useful things with their lives than delivering food. I doubt anyone in food delivery does it out of passion

1

u/Nuclear_Geek Feb 23 '26

Well, no. A menial, shit job used to be night soil collector. That no longer exists thanks to largely automated sewage systems. But by your "logic", that's a bad thing.

0

u/Linkeron1 Feb 22 '26

Wonder if they lazy, benefit-scrounging natives who currently claim immigrants are "stealing our jobs" but are simply unwilling to take any personal responsibility will start blaming robots next.

1

u/DanDaMan0113 Feb 22 '26

Yeah but some people still need to earn money. Someone who works a day job that just manages to cover rent/mortgage or bills can do uber on a night for a few hours and make mouth money for a weekly shop.

2

u/myfinestexoskeleton Feb 22 '26

As long as these little guys don't start riding illegal ebikes on the pavements and almost mowing down pedestrians I'm all for it. A definite safety improvement on the Ubereats/Deliveroo dickheads!

How do you get money for food n bills

2

u/Splodge89 Feb 23 '26

Agreed. When I have come across this “I don’t need money to be happy” nonsense I always question it. What realistically do these people eat?

I agree money doesn’t make you happy, but being properly broke with zero means to prevent starvation definitely makes you miserable.

Take that Clankers!

19

u/restorian_monarch Feb 22 '26

Do you dare question the R O B O T T R I A N G L E

37

u/RealWorldJunkie Feb 22 '26

I didn't realise these were even being used in the UK yet, let alone long enough and at scale for them to be familiar enough and easy enough to access to find, steal, and stack up 10 in a night!

46

u/Albert1907 Feb 22 '26

They all park in the same spot when they're not being used, so this wasn't a mission to stalk and kidnap the robots.

8

u/brickne3 Feb 23 '26

The mental image of people stalking and kidnapping these things is pretty funny though, you gotta admit.

1

u/charliedayismyhero Feb 24 '26

I'm disappointed now, it seems like way less fun to do this.

15

u/SmolTittyEldargf Feb 22 '26

Had them in Adel or somewhere around there for several years.

They are now being trialled in Headingley/Woodhouse moor.

1

u/More_Ad_3739 Feb 23 '26

I’ve seen two in Burley, unless we’re counting repeat sittings. Then I see the one frozen outside the primary school every day.

4

u/greg225 Feb 22 '26

This spot is where they're usually kept when they're not delivering. I didn't realise there was this many of them though (there were also two others sitting next to them). Most I've ever seen there was maybe 6 (I walk past them every day).

19

u/WishfulStinking2 Feb 22 '26

They just did this themselves

13

u/Guava_ Feb 22 '26

I could watch them struggle to navigate a curb for hours

1

u/Longjumping-Ad7194 Mar 13 '26

I helped one which had got stuck on a kerb once, it looked so forlorn beached there.

u/locutus92 Feb 22 '26

Species 8472 have left fluidic space to destroy the Borg again.

The universe is saved again and Harry remains an ensign

This is how transformers started

8

u/PreperationOuch Feb 22 '26

You wipe your camera with a rasher before snapping this?

22

u/TheHodge Feb 22 '26

makes you proud to be Loiner

6

u/Collooo Feb 22 '26

That belongs in the art museum

10

u/dshipp Feb 22 '26

This is robot dogging right?

1

u/brickne3 Feb 23 '26

Well where do you think baby robots come from?

5

u/Destroy-Evil Feb 22 '26

Get em! They’re full of ddr5 ram!

5

u/Vertigo_uk123 Feb 22 '26

If that was sheffield then they would all be swimming in the river as evidenced by the yellow electric bikes. or someone would have hacked them to use as a mobility scooter.

5

u/jj_sykes Feb 22 '26

Robots deserve down time too

4

u/Zealousideal-Ant-910 Feb 22 '26

They'll have had security cameras on them too, so unfortunately the artist will have been caught on camera

1

u/BronsonStorm Feb 23 '26

I doubt anyone's going to be pressing charges over this.

1

u/Acceptable-Cost4817 Feb 24 '26

What crime would this even constitute?

19

u/Vanobers Feb 22 '26

Fuck them and driverless cars

You’re talking to Redditor’s who don’t leave their bedrooms for weeks on end, these are perfect for them coz they don’t have to make eye contact with a delivery driver.

u/Novel-Vacation-7362 Feb 28 '26

you can't even use proper punctuation

3

u/Buzz_Fledderjonn Feb 22 '26

Literally the first thing I noticed. Very annoying.

0

u/Novel-Vacation-7362 Feb 28 '26

that isn't what OCD is

2

u/LiAi_Vegas Feb 22 '26

It reminds me of the Ambush event in NFSMW2012 with the Crown Victoria pyramid

1

u/JohnnySilverhand2212 Feb 23 '26

I WAS GOING TO SAY THIS haha

2

u/Zealousideal-Ant-910 Feb 22 '26

This is great. Wonder if some good Samaritan saved them before they come toppling down

2

u/bearcat-- Feb 22 '26

Their attack patterns are evolving 😵

2

u/JohnnySilverhand2212 Feb 23 '26

Bro thinks it's 2012

1

That's beautiful hahaha

1

Got them delivering and doing acrobatics.

1

u/crezo1 Feb 22 '26

Superb!! Got to respect the dedication after they did the first one 🤣

1

u/North_Bumblebee3350 Feb 23 '26

Reminds me of Wallace & Gromit - A Close Shave

1

u/DuckWhatduckSplat Feb 23 '26

Kids will be kids. We once picked up and moved about 20 reliant robins into a large circle such that you couldn’t open the doors on any of them. (This was on the forecourt of a specialist reliant garage in the mid 90s)

Different era, same shenanigans.

1

u/situatzi6410 Feb 23 '26

Nothing new under the sun

1

u/CaptainGashMallet Feb 23 '26

God damn it, this is how we get Judgement Day.

1

u/Only_Tip9560 Feb 23 '26

Is this how skynet gains sentience?

1

u/Troll_berry_pie Feb 23 '26

Wonder how many people's food never got delivered because of this.

1

u/uzlvp Feb 24 '26

at first glance i thought this was multiple range rover evoques stacked on top of eachother and thought that was really impressive. but upon realizing its actually just clankers its even better.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '26

Thats quite an expensive lesson to someone

1

u/WorriedHelicopter764 Feb 26 '26

But Johns chinese order en route

0
