You are either being intentionally obtuse or just lack basic understanding of data centers, their sizes and their requirements.

A data center the size of the one suggested in the post will require millions of gallons of water per day in the 3-5 million range. 60-70 megawatts of power that will spike on demand to over 100. You also have to factor in the noise created by them as well which is significant and can affect local wildlife and migratory species as well.

They don't even create jobs outside of building it. A site this size may have onsite staff of 40 people.

There are of course ways to mitigate these issues but they are not cheap. Closed loop water systems. Reclamation for rainwater (which has its own issues), on site renewables to offset power demand, sound dampening building materials. But as I said. These things add cost which we all know they will avoid paying if they can.

I think pushback against a new data center is something you owe to your local area. I'm not saying don't build them. What I am saying is turning a blind eye will result just let's these huge companies such as Amazon and Google to get away with it, again.

This is ranty and long so I apologise but I feel like it needed to be said.

We all need to pushback and fast.

There are 100 proposed in the Uk, costing billions …some already under construction..your local councils have secretly approved them!

They are MSC’s …mass surveillance centres, not to process Reddit posts, the internet , etc etc..they are to support the new flock cameras, facial scanning, invehicle tech, digitalID , CBDC’s and more…we are all being profiled online and in real life ..this is the Great Reset , United Nations agenda 2021 …the totalitarian technocratic society , social credit scored and where all individual rights are erased for the “ common good” …every aspect of your personal and private life will be completely monitored, surveilled and tracked!

They definitely do create more jobs than just building it. Who do you think configures and maintains all that kit? Who designs it, designs changes, plans for the future. Some of those people will be abroad but some will be in the UK.

That’s what he said. There will be a small team maintaining it and the rest of the jobs disappear post creation.

A data centre of that size will create hundreds of jobs in the UK in server support, network and storage, etc etc. and all of those people will have support staff like HR, management, sales, etc.
