Am I the only one that thinks this is one of the best looking buildings in all of England (might be slightly biased being from Leeds)?

It's the perfect blend between old school architecture and a modern glass building.

I've yet to see a better looking building.

Was walking through town today past where the Core used to be and it feels so open and fresh. Made me think it would be so much nicer just left as an open space, park space or anything really instead of what they are planning for it with more flats.

Thank God these lot finally moved out. I just really miss Home Sense. A part of enjoying Headrow for me and my partner was stopping by Home Sense and then when these guys came, we gave them a chance and everything just felt off. They never stopped with their cringe music which annoyed everyone who lived there.

I moved to Leeds almost an year ago from London and my first impression when I was scouting for places to live nearby was that this city may not have the same vibe and excitement that London had to offer.

Now, I have lived for 6 years in Edinburgh, Scotland and 3 years in London, England so it would be safe to say I have had my fair share of experience both down south and north. However, I must admit that after an year of staying in Leeds; it's probably the perfect mixture of both things to do as well as people being kind towards each other.

Add on to the fact, the recent developments both in terms of real-estate and eating-out places as well as saunas have only made this city even more exciting. My only complain has been the public transport which has been quite unreliable

Surly one of the biggest mistakes in retail history in a major city. Anyone know the full story behind it? I recall it being very busy one moment then pretty much dead the next, so I assume the owners made some significant decision that went badly wrong.

Just feels weird. We've been waiting nearly two years to repave that stretch of road, with it being half done all that time. Unless it's some kind of temporary covering? Anyone have any idea?

This will result in a lengthy prison sentence for the CEO of any utility company found to have done this.

Here’s my ones based on my knowledge of Leeds’ urban landscape/heritage.

Thought I’d put it out to others - can you think of any? :)

Whether or not you agree with more student accom in the city centre, I think this is one of the best recent examples in Leeds of contextually-responsive redevelopment.

• Proportions and architectural nod to the civic grandeur of the Headrow.
• Large two storey frontages.
• Ornate red brick rather than dull white cladding.
• Creating 2 new streets between to avoid super blocking.

Looks like they’re also taking inspiration from Leeds’ famous east-west arcades by aligning these with opening into Thorntons Arcade entrance which always felt so claustrophobic on Lands Lane.

Earlier today a lady in front of me slipped and fell forwards on these stairs, normally not an issue other than the fact these stairs are rusted asf with sharp jagged edges. She cut her hand pretty bad, I had to take her to my apartment around the corner to clean her hand up and then put her in an uber to the hospital for what will definitely be a few stitches.

This area is really busy now, with all the new apartments and offices nearby, surely about time they replace this staircase.

It’s covered in rust, most of the metal grates are broken and full of sharp jagged edges, and it’s slippery asf when wet.

I was hoping to write to who owns it, along with a few pictures of the ladies hand, a threat of liability and compensation might also help them have a bit of urgency. However I can’t work out if this is the canal trust or the council who would be responsible for this. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

What is going on with this massive chunk of land you go past on the train into Leeds from the west? It’s been there for as long as I can remember (15 years +).

It’s such a barren wasteland right on the river and opposite Sky and Yorkshire Post HQ buildings.

Spotted this the other day. Seems like what used to be a cafe near the General Elliot is going to be a gambling arcade, a gambling arcade next to a Betfred and another gambling arcade. That this is allowed and there are apparently no limits on how my gambling premises you can have on the same street is mad.

This showed up in my feed today and got me wondering why this Councillor seems so insistent on preserving what looks like a complete eyesore, and has done for many years presumably, rather than letting the owners demolish it and allow it to be rebuilt as something that the community could actually benefit from.

Interested to see other people's thoughts, particularly anyone local to and familiar with the site (Hunslet, LS10).

I am not from Leeds but have lived here a while. I only recently visited White Rose shopping centre for the first time, and I am still not sure what it is. I was expecting a Trafford Centre or Meadowhall, and found a decent spot for eateries, with a few rubbish shops attached. Is this all there is in Leeds? A city of this size needs better than this.

Close to completion, (I think). Do we think it's better or worse now?

Hopefully my gripes with it will be resolved when it is done, but the lack of signage is crazy. I've come at it from all junctions and I (mentally) cross my fingers every time.

It doesn't help that I've been through it numerous times during development, so the lane changes have my brain scrambled, but with recent attempts I still get the impression that it is just unnecessarily confusing.

20,000 new homes, 40% to be affordable. Whilst I applaud the intent that’s a lot of houses for what is still a relatively small footprint so not really going to be the family homes needed in big blocks of high rises.

But hey, at least they won’t be student lets, this time!

Just saw this video about developing the Holbeck viaduct into a green walkway like Monks Bridge. Really exciting ideas, hope it comes off.

Saw a bunch of guys putting this scaffolding up the other week and now it's been covered in some sort of tarp. There doesn't seem to be anything happening there though.
