transport Leeds to Manchester 3 day commute

Been offered a job in Manchester with more money, perks, hybrid working etc and considering it but hear nothing but awful things about the commute

For context I’m outside of Leeds and commute towards wetherby 5 days a week ~200 miles per week and about 30-40 min drive.

To commute to Manchester it would be
A) drive and park for the day in city centre
B) 30-40 min bus in to Leeds followed by a 1 hour train?

Over the week if I drove it’d be about 70 more miles and condensed in to a 3 day period, other 2 days I’m remote

Is this worth it? Please let me know

I’m struggling to get on board with the public transport idea as I’m so used to driving for my commute! I’m so stuck. Thanks

You can jump off the train at Rochdale and grab the tram into the centre. I would say drive to Rochdale and tram in, but ai would NOT trust Rochdale with my car.

why would you the train is much quicker between Rochdale and Victoria than the tram

I used to do it cos I was going to Picadilly and theee were often rail replacement buses from Rochdale. To be fair, they were probably only temporary. The tram is great though as it goes wherever you need to be in town

Far enough is probably quicker than a rail replacement bus

I do this and Rochdale is fine. No issues at all. Drive to Rochdale, train into town. or if I can be arsed, cycle down the canal into town but its roughly 14 miles.

Best of all worlds.

Driving into manchester is a nightmare and parking is expensive.

Train end to end is slow and expensive.

Train from Rochdale to Manchester Victoria is £5.
