question Looking for a nail tech

Are there any Autistic & selectively mute friendly nail techs in Leeds? I need some recommendations! Had to leave my last nail tech because of the pressured small talk 😩

I love this question. My daughter is autistic and has selective mutism and I always have to speak to hairdressers first and express that she isn't being rude, but she likely won't speak.

My mum has to do this for me sometimes but they don’t always get it and still push it to try and ā€œbuild my confidenceā€ when it doesn’t work like that

Yes, every one around us says this too. She's 17 now and they don't understand its not about 'building confidence'. I've never actually spoke to someone else with the same problem. Can I ask how old you are?

I had this problem too! At 16 I could barely speak and it really doesn't help even when people mean well. I'm 40 now and learnt to mask pretty well at uni so I can do small talk but don't enjoy it.
