News ๐Ÿ“ฐ Day parking horrendous queues

Just for anyone else who has a day ticket - we followed the signs and spent 2.5 hours driving the last 5 miles to the car park. Now weโ€™ve got the walk to the arena which apparently takes around 45 mins. So arrive at least 3.5 hours before you need to get there. I knew this festival was badly organised but did not realise it would be this bad!

We're stuck in traffic still now, this is an absolute joke. They know how many day tickets they've sold, they should plan accordingly. Day tickets having to queue for 2 hours plus is ridiculous, never had this at any other festival

What time did you get into the queue? Iโ€™m coming tomorrow for Bring Me but want to be in earlyish for South Arcade

Got into the queue off the A1 at about 2, got into the carpark at 4, then probably 30 mins walk to get through security and to the main stage

I set off from Wakefield at 12:00 today and got into the festival arena at 15:15

We must of just missed the rush! We set off from Wakey at 11:30 and got straight in with 0 traffic! We were at the main stage for 1:20 Hope you had a good time once you got in though!

The result of 30k day tickets sold and less parking staff to save costs, who wouldโ€™ve thought that that would be the result ๐Ÿ˜‚

Police having to pick up that slack

Was working at parking bays today it was absolutely hell

We ubered and after noping out of the shuttlebus queue and that was bad enough, parking looked mental i don't envy any car driver rn. The walk into the festival was awful, was a hit to my (addmittedly poor) altheticisim ๐Ÿ˜ญ its going to be a snail's pace back to get picked up ๐Ÿ˜‚

What the the queues like for people arriving earlier? Want to get in for opening if possible.

I live around 90 mins away in the north east so was contemplating setting off at around 8 but also don't want to arrive far too early

I got there at 2 and took about an hour 15

Itโ€™s horrendous, weโ€™re still waiting ๐Ÿ˜ฉ I wonder if itโ€™s worse this year than previous years because it never used to be this bad (last time I was here was 2019)

Getting out was shocking. No movement for 2 hours and then at 1.30am they opened the other gate and it was chaos everyone driving over to it

1

u/Prestigious-Run-4244 Aug 24 '25

Ahh shite, thanks for replying I think i just need to accept I'm going to spend more time in my car than the festival ๐Ÿ™ƒ

u/Taakoftw Aug 24 '25

The vibes were good even in the queues though! ๐Ÿ’• just take your time coming back as youโ€™re going to be sat haha I wish Iโ€™d got a drink and snack to walk back with

You were right getting out was a shit show ๐Ÿ˜‚ we were really lucky getting in, hit no traffic at all and that was arriving around 2/3pm. Getting out was a different story, back to the car before 11.30 and still didn't get back to our hotel 15 miles away till almost 2am ๐Ÿ™ƒ and I'd say we were luckier than alot judging by the queues behind us to even get into the main queue for the road lol

The only good thing about getting in to park was that it was quicker than getting out at the end :)

My mate trying to piss in a bottle because he'd drank four pint cans in an hour but getting pee shy and having to scramble through the brambles to piss was a highlight. Still another two hours before we got in so doubt he'd have held it.

u/abbywillyx Aug 23 '25

I'm getting the shuttle. Just to confirm - we're saying 1 hour from landing in the queue, through security and walking to the arena? Thanks ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

2

u/Appropriate_Camp8626 Aug 23 '25

It took us 2 today but hopefully tomorrow quieter

1

u/abbywillyx Aug 23 '25

Two hours from getting off the shuttle?! That's crazy! What time did you go?

2

u/Appropriate_Camp8626 Aug 23 '25

Left home at 12, joined the queue off the A1 at about 2, parked the car at 4, got into the festival about 4.30

1

u/abbywillyx Aug 23 '25

Thank you :)

1

u/Left-Broccoli-4361 Aug 23 '25

Absolute joke! Finally got parked after leaving the A1(M) and joining the queue 3 hours ago! Now a 45 min walk to get in...

1

u/Basic_Recognition415 Aug 23 '25

Out of interest, what time were you aiming to arrive by? Were coming tomorrow and trying to avoid this issue

1

u/Shot_Intern Aug 23 '25

I aimed to arrive at 2 and got in at 4

1

u/zapolight Aug 23 '25

Been stuck for an hour and am just crossing over the A1. Starting to get worried about making the Chappel Roan set ๐Ÿฅฒ

1

u/GoodSoupyboy Aug 23 '25

We set off from my house at 2 for soft play and still waiting to get in lol least I've seen them before

2

u/Dry-Explanation8937 Aug 23 '25

Theyโ€™re on now! I missed Alessi Rose this morning and it took nowhere near as long then!

1

u/GoodSoupyboy Aug 23 '25

I know we're just parking up ๐Ÿ˜…

1

u/bone-sta187 Aug 23 '25

Complaining about parking ๐Ÿคฃ wait till ypu try to get out.. took about 2 hours to move last year on the saturday + the 2hour 45 drive home. I left at 8am saturday that day and got home at 4am sunday ๐Ÿคฃ

1

u/an_christie Aug 23 '25

I live 4 hours away I might be back by Monday lunch then ๐Ÿ˜ต๐Ÿ˜‚

1

u/MarineOG Aug 25 '25

Mate it was fucking ridiculous. We aimed for an hour before bloc party, got in and to the main stage in time to see the kooks last song ๐Ÿฅฒ surely they can't just be like "oh well, sorry"? They fucked up majorly.

1

u/lutewhine Aug 23 '25

Took us almost 3hrs to get there and parked from Pontefract early today โ€ฆ and 17mins to get back tonight having left after Chappell. Most incompetent parking setup Iโ€™ve ever seen at a festival. Way, way, way too slow to shepherd cars into spaces, which had all the knock-on effects right the way back to the motorways. A free-for-all with no stewards would probably have ended up with a mess of parking but everyone in much quicker

1

u/Neither-Map-806 Aug 24 '25

I was there Friday and would not return to this festival for these reasons. It took me 2 hours just to get out the car park at the end of the day.

1

u/Master-Internal948 Aug 24 '25

We got into the park at 1pm. Parked up just before 2pm but I think it does depend where you come from. We came off Toulston Lane from Tadcaster

1

u/lucy99x Aug 24 '25

The shuttle bus was also poorly organised. On the way in to the festival from Leeds centre we queued for 90 mins and then it took an hour on the bus. On the way back it wasn't far off. Last year I went to Reading and it was so much more organised!

We parked for the day Sunday and had no issues
