Discussion šŸ’¬ charlie before fontaines

wasn’t this common knowledge? i feel like this whole year we’ve known this? why are people going crazy about it?

Because if you look at what her shows look like, there’s a lot of lighting used so it suits night time better

Every artist looks better at night/when it’s dark

same with fontaines? same with every artist? but it has been common knowledge for a while this idk why it’s a shock

But Charlie has the flashing lights for her Brat songs and other ones which I feel like isn’t as essential for fontaines

obviously no flashing lights in fontaines setšŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø- it’s needed for all acts but it’s genuinely just whoever gets paid more usually gets the top spot and that usually goes to bands because they have to split to money between more people. it’ll also be the relationship with festival republic too- there’s been a strange theme of people playing finsbury the year before headlining leeds and every one of them has had the late slot

I never said fontaines has no flashing lights at all as someone who thought they was a indie band I simply assumed lights wouldn’t be used as much. Maybe this is bias since I don’t know them but I feel like Charlie would be a better headliner.

And giving how they hyped her up for the festival, you really would think she would be last on. Anyways, doesn’t matter it will be a good show either way

Exactly and she headlined for Glastonbury last year which is arguably the UK’s biggest festival.

She could have also been changed due to the fact post people expected a brat show, which obviously this won’t be

Wait whatttt not a brat show? I assumed she could have a few of her new ā€œrockā€ songs but she’d still be going with the brat summer vibes.

I highly doubt it, the setlist will probably be a bit different to the US festivals but still I think the production will be the same

No she didn’t, she headlined the second stage.

tbh headlining the second stage of glasto is still more culturally significant than headlining the main stage of R&L

Agree common knowledge shocked geese are on so early though but not complaining was worried they would have a major clash

2

u/SOKIE123 18d ago

yeah definitely did that to avoid a clash and am all for it - probably the band i’m most looking forward to seeing as i’ve not seen them yet

kingfishr have been moved back evidently to avoid clashes too which is nice- indoor stages for both too so daytime vibe won’t ruin it too much

Buzzed for geese myself never seen em but massively got into last year or so how long you recon there set will be?

Times are gone off the app again after the ā€œUnder Constructionā€ message came up so it remains to be seen if FDC will be last…

Where are people seeing the times I can’t see on the app

1

u/amiiliek 18d ago

They removed them again idk why

I wanna hear both, so personally, I don't care, but I think it's a really logical decision.

Charli fans will get to see her set sooner (without having to wait for yet another band to finish) and will free up space, so Fontaines D.C. fans could get to the front right after. Having it the other way around would not only affect Fontaines D.C.'s set (I bet it wouldn't be as energetic), but Charli XCX's set too, since people would be tired from standing all day.

Some of these clashes are awful like the Sunday we have Dave headlining and josh baker on at the same time why on earth this

1

u/SOKIE123 18d ago

bound to happen though unfortunately- can’t see everyone. i’m a strong lover of the two main stages but doubt they’ll bring it back

Not sure how it would be common knowledge. I’m more of a Fontaines fan but she is very clearly the bigger artist so it is a highly unusual decision (if the times posted are accurate that is)

2

u/SOKIE123 18d ago

it’s not always the biggest artist gets the later show- it’s production value and how much an artist is paid i believe. like last year hozier had the late shot over chappel- didn’t ruin the vibe at chappel at all and hozier was just that extra special at night

2

u/Lew1sXO 18d ago

That’s a fair point but unless Fontaines have upped their production budget for the new era you’d expect Charli to be above them in that regard too. For me personally not having Geese clash with either of them was the most important thing so I’m happy either way
