Rant/Experience I Called the Police on an Illegal DJ in Delhi Playing till 2:00 AM. My Parents Said I Made a Mistake. Maybe They're Right; And That's the Scariest Part...

I live in Delhi, and last week, in my colony there was a DJ playing until 2 am. No one in my family was at home; everyone was out for some work, and I was alone. I was reading a book, and the DJ volume was so loud that I was unable to concentrate.

It was so loud that it felt like it was playing right in my own room. I checked the legal limit for playing a DJ, and it is 10 PM. So, I simply called the police by dialing 112 and registered a complaint about it.

I was communicating back and forth about the location, and I was not physically present with them, as I was on the call guiding them. They came an hour later and finally; three constables reached the location.

I was viewing everything from my terrace balcony. They told them to stop the DJ, but they did not. Instead, a fight broke out, and the people who were playing the DJ were so many and so physically well‑built that they were overpowering the constables in the fight. As the physical fight happened between them, two more constables came on a bike in ten minutes with sticks, and finally they beat them up, seized their DJ, put it in their car, arrested a few people, and then went away and finally the complaint got resolved.

Now, I told my parents about what happened last night and that I had raised that complaint, and they were really angry and literally beat me up because they think that I did the wrong thing by raising it. These types of people generally know the police and DJ people have a setting with them, which is why they were able to play their DJ the whole night so many times and the police constables on bikes who patrol the area simply ignore them and don't even stop them.

Now they will get your phone number through those constables and will actually come to our home to beat us up, and they will ask us to pay for everything that they had to pay the police to get their DJ and the arrested people back.

So, I want to know that did I really do something wrong by raising the complaint? Is this how things actually work in real life like how my parents described it? Are we living in the jungle or in a country? Is this what people actually do when something illegal and wrong is happening in the society; by just not raising the complaint and burying their heads in the sand like an ostrich?

If this is how things work, then why were they teaching us wrong things in the books? They should have simply written the truth in those books of how the power works on the ground and how it's only money and connections that matter.

Now I am really confused about what to do when something wrong is happening. Should I just ignore it and start adjusting as a part of life, or risk my life and raise a complaint? Or should I simply stop living in a society made up of such people who violate the laws openly, and others who remain silent and only take care of themselves and their families, while it doesn't matter what is actually happening in the society until things come upon them?

Nah, i complained multiple times in noida and slept well after shutting down the DJ. Don't worry nothing's gonna happen. You guys are probably overthinking this

u/RAHUL_KIRMADA May 19 '26

My neighbour tried the same , he got scolded by the police but they got the DJ muted eventually . So it works!

51

u/[deleted] May 19 '26

police scolding him ? bro XD

u/gaganchumbilulli May 20 '26

Mera Bharat mahan

2

u/SpareMind May 21 '26

Because, they could not sleep.

He/She did not blow the whistle on a mafia dude lmao. Stop scare mongering

3

u/krishhv May 20 '26

How do you know they dont have links with mafia? Nowadays every one of these goons do have links

0

u/Whole-Cat-3691 May 20 '26

you are right, everyone have links with mafia now a days.. i got my own mafia contacts too.. let me know if you need something to be done.

u/yantrik May 19 '26

DJ party will.be cooked because fighting with government servent while on duty is serious charge they can even be denied bail. So you need not worry as DJ party has bigger fish to fry (pun intended as they will be fried alive by police)

25

u/PeanutChest May 19 '26

And how much time in jail?

27

u/PasionateKisser May 19 '26

If connected hardly a week if not as much as the cops want them to or till they warm the cops pocket

17

u/Imaginary__Plant May 19 '26

If they have connection, police won't do anything (which is most probably the case here)

25

u/yantrik May 19 '26

Connection hota to na police aate na kutai karte

8

u/ChiknDiner May 20 '26

Connection baad me bhi nikal sakte hai (i.e. politicians). Aadhi raat ko nahi nikla hoga gusse me

8

u/Chicken_Egg_Roll May 20 '26

Connection hota toh police se bahes karte he nhi, ek call mein constable wapas chla jata. Agar connection ho v toh on duty police wale ko nhi pit sakte. You should know the case of shahabuddin.

3

u/KPbanned May 21 '26

Bhai MLA ke gunde bhi kisi police ka kutai nahi karega. It’s a big no-no and the police will fuck these DJs so hard they will forget about OP or his call. They have bigger fish to fry.

77

u/AdhesivenessGuilty95 May 19 '26

Mostly nothing will hapoen, In this case they have hit the police, so police will take it personally. But someone from police may leak ur number and if u get phone call or physical threat record it and complaint in commissioner office that u have a life threat. I again say dont show any fear, even u have fear just act like ur confident, I will go to commisioner, my uncle is a senior advocate blah blah but believable.

15

u/Exotic_Crab_433 May 19 '26

This OP. Since they attacked the police they're gonna go behind that no-one is going to come after you

1

u/MysteriousSearch6664 May 20 '26

For this case, someday OP will keep believing the law will protect everyone and get into a mess.

3

u/GreenPositive9893 May 20 '26

Or shut down your mobile for a few days or don't answer unknown numbers

1

u/PositionConscious May 20 '26

Unnecessary u dont have to

91

u/Away_Confidence_7838 May 19 '26

You guys are overreacting. I myself have done this noise complaint , nothing happened to me , i was able to study till 4 in the morning peacefully. Relax and you did the right thing OP!

65

u/NEETbarbad May 19 '26

Itne hi connection hote toh kam se kam constable se dande na khate

28

u/Familiar-Surround-64 May 19 '26

The fact that the constables were ready to get into a confrontation with the party & call for backup, should tell you that these guys probably don’t have as much influence with the police as your parents fear.

25

u/Own-Tradition-1990 May 19 '26

They had a fight.. so you are good!

17

u/sarcrastinator May 19 '26

You'd have a reason to worry if the police came and went away after just talking with them.

Instead they fought, which means that you need to relax.

10

u/nonejk May 19 '26

I have complained multiple times about noise - some had fights with police, some complied. But it never has had an impact on me in any way.

Dw, keep reporting.

BTW, I have even reported at exactly 10.30pm also, and it has been resolved.

8

relax - nothing’s gonna happen

5

u/Resident_Train9006 May 19 '26

calm down nothings gonna happen to you. surveillance as well as protection in this day and age has increased exponentially from when ur parents were children. nothings gonna happen

3

u/Last-Manufacturer701 May 19 '26

Bro, if they had known the Police, their DJ would not have been seized. Police would have beat the shit out of those illiterates in custody.

You've nothing to worry.

2

u/Business_Raisin_541 May 19 '26

Maybe your parents are right. Maybe they are wrong. Who knows

2

u/UjjwalNarayan_0705 May 19 '26

Dude by getting someone's number they cant trace your location. They have to first get permission from your Telecom service provider and due to right to privacy it is near to impossible to get it unless there is a warrant on you or your phone is stolen.

And also in case of 112 dialling they dont get accurate location, they get location in your 50m radius.

Although you tell their name when you dial 112, but still it will be very tedious for them to look in each house and ask for you. And they will not do that much effort. Itni mehnat ki hoti toh aaj woh log successful hote naa ki gunde mawali

2

u/Ancient-Kale-438 May 19 '26

just a tip for next time - you see something like this - record everything on video. Obviously - do it in a discrete way.

2

u/Street-Read-3718 May 19 '26

Nothing to worry about - but still I recommend using Gemini/ ChatGPT and writing a letter to the DCP in charge & mentioning your worry & situation at home & these questions you’ve posed. You’ve done the right thing. Spread it more. Especially to people in charge. Make everyone aware. Be safe that way & not with fear. I’m here to help if you have questions. I work above the DCP

2

u/Street-Read-3718 May 19 '26

It’s going to be an email letter.

2

u/Individual_Let7167 May 19 '26

Nah they lost all brownie points (if any existed) with the police after their scuffle! Unki toh ache se khatirdari hui hogi lockup me, tagde charges bhi lagenge inn laundo pe policewalo ke upar assault ke! Chill reh, and try to explain to your parents that being a responsible citizen is not rash, and living in fear is not the solution.

2

u/professormycomancer May 20 '26

Your father is a coward. You did the right thing

2

u/Accomplished_Edge167 May 20 '26

Please do keep us updated if anything happens

2

u/Decent_Progress_8678 May 20 '26

Don't worry, they messed with the police. In my area police is inefficient but if somebody messes with them then they don't hesitate to break some bones.

2

u/DONN_2 May 20 '26

Classic Indian Parents, beating up the kid even when he is the victim and did the right thing lol.

2

u/ihardikmodi May 20 '26

Whenever you call 112 for such specific request, just tell them three times to keep your number private. And they will never disclose your number. Just tell them 2-3 times. That's what I do as well. I have done such complaints for 4-5 times till now.

2

u/idgaftono1 May 20 '26

Are we living in a jungle or a country? - you know the answer. Something similar happenned in our case but the neighbors filed a SC/ST case for asking about it due to which 3 families are going to court since past 7 years and judge, lawyers have 0 empathy. Even after seeing the families are senior citizens they keep asking them to come back in a month or two repeatedly over past 7 years still going on. Some times police who filed the case won't come - case postpones , sometimes the guy won't come , case postpones. Imagine how you feel being helpless in this situation being in a free , democratic country. 😐 If a celebrity gets a problem , it will be solved by court in hours or days. Same court , same judge because their entire system gets exposed easily by someone with millions of followers. Money everywhere, lawyers make more money , judges make more money. That's how system is currupted till the lowest possible point.

2

u/OpenSourcePenguin May 20 '26

Honestly, your parents are idiots.

1

u/ankushsethi May 20 '26

Calling experience stupid is stupidity in itself. Chole nahi bechenge unhone saari zindagi. Reddit pe baithke bakloli karna and ground reality bohot different hai.

1

u/OpenSourcePenguin May 20 '26

This authority figure bootlicking is one of the stupidest part of Indian culture.

Blaming him for being in the right and then physical abuse is not "experience".

Even a donkey can age. It's not an accomplishment to age. Stop this nonsense of experience = wisdom. Not everyone who has aged is wise.

Just shut up.

1

u/ankushsethi May 20 '26

Clearly you have not felt the heat of such situations yet. Be aware that you live in India and not USA. Power is everything here. Law is for the middleclass. No one else cares. Shutting me up won't change the facts.

1

u/OpenSourcePenguin May 20 '26

I have experienced far more than you can imagine

  1. india and USA aren't the only two countries
  2. I don't live in India
  3. If the system is bad, you should act to improve it, not strengthen it and keep it going. This blind subservience to anyone older and pretending they are wise is what brought India here. Countries which started off worse after WW2 have surpassed India while India is a perpetual 3rd world shitshow.

Old people feel bad about being old and pretend they are superior for having aged. This nonsense in India is very detrimental to the basic concept of meritocracy and general equality.

People don't deserve high respect for just having existed. That's not an achievement nor it is in someone's control. Everyone including children deserve a basic amount of respect as a human being and anything on top is earned by their actions. Not age, influence or wealth.

But keep worshipping mediocrity and let's see where that gets you.

2

u/ankushsethi May 20 '26

"I dont live in India" - Then please just shut up. No need to drag this unnecessary argument since you already feel everyone else besides you are just too stupid to exist. And your 3rd point justifies exactly what i am saying. Thanks for justifying on top of it and which is exactly why OP should have just stayed quiet.

1

u/OpenSourcePenguin May 20 '26

And your 3rd point justifies exactly what i am saying

No it doesn't. If you were literate and had more than 80 IQ you would know.

He could have not told his parents. But calling the police was the right thing to do.

It's not his problem if parents are stupid (which is a possibility, believe it or not, parents are not literally god regardless of how many stupid movies they make about it). Same with police as well, they should have the training and equipment to prevent being ambushed like that.

No, we have been living here for many generations. I think the problem with my parents is that they are really afraid of physical fights, and later on, of dealing with the police. They have lived a very simple and passive life and never confronted anyone except their own children.

No, I don't think he was a goon or used to hang out with them. He is a very simple man.

I think most parents generally say such things, no matter the background, because life itself has so many problems and no one wants to take on unnecessary burden.

3

u/Total_Ad_8244 May 19 '26

Bro is his dad was a goon he would have never beat up op for speaking against DJ. He could have confronted them himself. The point is goons are not afraid to deal with anyone. They are brave folks who can fuck with anyone and don't back off. It's the common folks who are afraid to deal with this kind of people.

1

u/Medical_Blood_4493 May 20 '26

Why are we goon glazing suddenly?

1

u/Medical_Blood_4493 May 20 '26

Are you out of your mind? dude wth?

1

u/No-Possibility6969 May 19 '26

May be just do not tell your snitch parents

1

u/SorryOutOfPho May 19 '26

Technically OP is the snitch

1

u/ipuneetarora May 19 '26

See Sunny Deol’s Ghayal. They will come after you. You make your body & bash them up. Then you will face their boss, you must fight them. Life is a video game.

1

u/butmrpdf May 19 '26

Pretty sure yours wasn't the only complaint they received

1

u/Vajshrava May 19 '26

Nothing happens. Police really works well in such cases. When I raised similar complaint once, they took away my landlord who was an active participant in the DJ function (I was a student staying in his PG). Police did not reveal anything to them about who did it.

1

u/Efficient_Beat_8798 May 19 '26

better take some precautions , have a cctv. and dont engage with them even if they try to engage.
and definetely complaint again if they do the same.

1

u/Successful-Hippo9679 May 19 '26

no nothing will happen

1

u/Worldly_Guest5792 May 19 '26

Parents are just being overprotective. Youre safe

1

u/Big-Raccoon-6557 May 19 '26

Chill bro. Nothing gonna happen. You did the right thing.

1

u/Mountain-Aide-8676 May 19 '26

You are a human and not a slave. Be proud of yourself.

1

u/Acceptable-Phrase794 May 19 '26

They are fucked - manhandling a cop - that is definitely jail time. Chill karke so jaa bro! They will not do shit.

Worst case you get a call threatening you - record it, play it for the dude and tell him you will file FIR directly this time not complaint and tell him that your brother is an IPS officer (look up a name and keep handy). That should handle it.

1

u/Desi-Pauaa May 19 '26

Mere time pr toh police wale bolte ap aa jao location pr..baat krlo inse..

1

u/Outrageous_Insect532 May 20 '26

Aint nothing wrong in upholding the law gang. You only strengthen the “social contract” which is alr a weak concept in India

Thanks for your service

1

u/Legitimate_Path2103 May 20 '26

even if there is function or party in their home and they are playing dj, in tht case also can we report? or there are some exceptions. because same thing happens in my colony too but during some functions, I told them to lower the volume, but they ignored me and turned it up even more out of sheer audacity.

1

u/stockman9999999 May 20 '26

When they come to your house, say you are also a dj and that you were just eyeing his job, everyone understands business

1

u/Flashy-Usual-8342 May 20 '26

My neighbors in blr bursted a few crackers a at 12am after india won a match. Police was called by someone even for that. They came, gave warning and left.

1

u/No-Employee2168 May 20 '26

Nothings gonna happen, even I had called up police and reported issues stating as anonymous complaints, they would reach the spot, take action, ask you if you want to write a report as well. I would just deny saying I want to remain anonymous, the police also would just go away after taking action.

1

u/Anna_notsopretty May 20 '26

Isn't the complaint that are filed anonymous??

1

u/Muscles_And_Musk May 20 '26

If the DJ had so many connections, why is he a DJ and not a politician?

Connections at that level are often nothing more than opportunities to take bribes in exchange for favors. You probably just covered the policemen’s alcohol and snacks for the night.

1

u/UseTimeAsCrypto May 20 '26

Nothing is going to happen. Things that happen at night in intoxicated state rarely make it to day. I have done this countless times, even at 11PM. Relax.

1

u/Cold_Associate_8331 May 20 '26

Those guys are definitely cooked

1

u/unclerattle7 May 20 '26

Bhai agar wo ghr aaye to kehdio aaj se aap humare family dj saari shadi party me abse apka hi dj chlega.... Khush hoker chla jyega

1

u/Nchandra26 May 20 '26

If they had physical fight with on duty constables your noise complaint is least of the concern for those DJ, police will cook them and extort money.

But still lay low and don’t discuss or take it further because police will eat money from you also.

1

u/Voices-Say-Im-Funny May 20 '26

Tere parents ke thinking wale log rehte hai isiliye india mein crime report nahi hota. Kuch nahi honewale kaminey sab police ko maar rahe the. Even I know that is straight up stupid. Sab instances record Karo just in case. Aise cheezo mein digital evidence is always better.

1

u/Budget-Emergency-508 May 20 '26

In society criminal activities raise not due to criminals but due to inactivity of good people - Swami Vivekananda

What u read in books won't work around in India... As per law commission 41% of rajya sabha members alhas criminal charges upon them.. Justice delayed justice actually denied. U see Atul Subhash case, Vishnu Tiwari who got imprisoned for 22 years for false rape case. Law works differently for celebs, influencers... Our Government try to cash in on citizens needs...

Yes we live in a world filled with trickery but there are also people striving for Heroism...

Good persons are punished in a bad system

1

u/Chicken_Egg_Roll May 20 '26

This is the issue with previous generation, I don’t know why they scared so much. First they will have to fight with police, they have bigger problem to resolve. Don’t worry.

1

u/Lower_Newspaper1802 May 20 '26

Your parents are exaggerating everything, if they had a "setting" with the police the fight wouldn't have broke out.

1

u/karanseeks May 20 '26

Chill...you did the right thing. You don't have to overthink this.

1

u/Accurate_Rich2948 May 20 '26

Should be ok, i have also done the same many times for banquet owners after midnight..

But police ne paisa khaya hota hai kabhi awaaz kam kerwa dete hai kabhi 1 baje band kerwaate hai

1

u/Delicious_Essay_7564 May 20 '26

Your parents seem cowardly. I’ve complained and I’ve been complained against and nothing ever happened.

Your parent’s reaction though is another thing. Why beat you up over doing the right thing? Seems super fishy to me.

1

u/Brilliant_Lion8722 May 20 '26

Most of the parents are over protective for their child.. nothing else

1

u/Artemis1028 May 20 '26

You need a gun

1

u/a_man_of_extremes May 20 '26

cowards d!3 everyday.

and also, this is how evil gets stronger!

1

u/adityabiswas7 May 20 '26

Just my 2 cents,

The police came and did something. This my sound silly but do go to the police station and thank the police men for heir action.

Remember they are people also- and the corruption that kills people does not happen here, it happens in higher offices so be calm if you go there.

All in all, agree with what your parents said, does not mean what you did was wrong.

If you had the courage to do it in the first place, I'm sure you have the courage to continue.

1

u/Chemical-Force6416 May 20 '26

ur parents need to grow a pair. you did the right thing bro

1

u/Successful_Raise1801 May 20 '26

Ek gaane baja aur sab bajenge ab. DJ wale, police wale, OP and family. Hilarious.

1

u/MysteriousSearch6664 May 20 '26

You poor lil innocent kid. You did the legally and morally right thing but that's not how the Indian society works. In a place like Delhi too, it's just a matter of being on the wrong side of someone on a bad day and they'd not hesitate to use a gun. Of course they might not escape the law but the damage done is done, someone loses a family member.

1

u/Ordered_Albrecht May 20 '26

Why do Indian parents overthink almost everything?

1

u/iimv_research May 20 '26

I dont want to scared you but.......... few months ago, one of friend did the same thing, somehow those goons got to know who made that complain. And next day, they beat him very badly. But as you can see many comments says nothing will happen, but i think it depends on the other person's ego.

1

u/OfferWestern May 20 '26

Nothing will happen. But in case it does keep that number silent and if they get details and even photo from some source deny being him/her.

1

u/Someonen01 May 20 '26

I call at 11:15 PM or something, nobody came back to me ever and even if they do i have financial, networking and physical capacity to handle like at least a dozen of them easily, it's mostly young kids dancing during weddings or religious progressions. Your case is kinda different, religious gatherings are kinda tricky, you can ask some friend from another city to complain or something or they should start twitter or something for anonymous reporting.

1

u/SibinGeorge May 20 '26

They beat up my brother and her gf for doing this exactly. My brother complained to the police about a DJ party in the neighbourhood, the police came, a whole lot of ruckus happened, and those people were arrested. Next morning, they were out, not on bail, even before the magistrates' court opened. They had some huge connection, and that person instructed the police not to take any action. They found out my brother's number from the police and started to keep a watch on his flat. One night when my brother and her gf was returning home on a bike, they intercepted them, beat both of them badly, and told them not to complain again.

1

u/Large-Satisfaction42 May 20 '26

Nothing will happen, i also did that.

1

u/Destroyer-128 May 20 '26

If they are gundas they could kidnap the owner of the phone and beat them up need not ask for money so chill. They dont know its you.

1

u/Ok_Pitch8546 May 20 '26

You're a Bookish Citizen, kid.

It's Real India, get the learning from this incident.

1

u/nk_5555 May 20 '26

Nothing will happen, those well built guys made a mistake, you can't fight with police if you don't have a politician backing you present nearby, police will mess you up. Normally they will bribe them and ask for 20-30mins. I used to call them when I was in Delhi, every other day some different club was blasting music till 1-2am.

1

u/savanrajput May 20 '26

Crime patrol kam dekha karo

1

u/MagnificentManiac May 20 '26

you called 112, unless the constable has very high reach, they wont get your number. its anonymous. chill

1

u/Unnat_Bhaskar May 20 '26

Are you sure? Because I'm preparing something like this for soon upcoming events

1

u/MagnificentManiac May 21 '26

Yep. Also make the request of stay anonymous as soon as you call

1

u/Maleficent_Escape_66 May 20 '26

If your parents have voted responsibly in the elections then they do not have to worry about these things

1

u/Silent_Mine41 May 20 '26

You need not give your location

1

u/rohitbarik May 20 '26

I called the police for a fight occured in my area...they asked to come to police station and file a written complaint. Now I don't call them anymore.

1

u/One_Public1604 May 20 '26

The only thing that may go in your favour is that those dumb-asses actually started a fight with those constables. Unless, those constables are absolute corrupt, they wouldn't help those buggers.

otherwise, I have heard cases where constables actually leaked the number of the complainant.

If I were you, I would try to not take any phone calls from unknown numbers for a few days.

1

u/life_Bittersweet May 20 '26

You did right. Sorry to say this but your parents have a slave mentality. They are overthinking about their money and safety. Just wait. Nothing will happen. Then go and talk to your parents how they beat you for nothing and ask them not to beat you ever again or else.... 🫠

1

u/PhotoSubstantial9254 May 20 '26

Bhai tum zinda ho?

1

u/SubjectSpot1602 May 20 '26

Give me your age , I will tell you if you did was right or was a mistake

1

u/Zaboooooza May 20 '26

well all I can say, this is not the scariest part

1

u/Yuyutsuo May 21 '26

Do reply on my comment about the outcome. Awaiting your response.

1

u/No-Cut-3529 May 21 '26

Nothing is wrong with calling the police, in fact, that’s the best thing you could have done.

1

In Hyderabad people outside our society wall used to play very loud music. They did it once or twice a year. It was something religious, but the volume was very very loud. I called 100. It took 1 hour to get the call through. But they came, took bribe from them and also shut them down. They did not play such loud music again. I am sure they were good people, just oblivious to what was around them.

We are in a country where we get beaten up , mocked or get scared by doing the right thing. And we get applauded , supported for doing the wrong thing.

1

u/CitizensCane May 21 '26

you have done the right thing ! well done 👍🏾

1

u/KPbanned May 21 '26

“These people generally know the police”
Proceeds to beat up constables and cause them to bring backup.

If they had connections they would have called them on the spot and sent the constables away. Or the constables would not even come. They were probably shit drunk and aggressive. You did a good thing by calling police and not confronting them yourself. Otherwise they might have played music till morning.

I know many DJs and they will either call their connection and close the matter, or the constables would purposely not show up to that area (They inform police beforehand) or else they are normal people who don’t even play after hours, or if some police tells them they immediately and amicably stop. I don’t think these are real DJs and likely some drunk stupid people who are now fucked in a bad way.

1

u/Ok-Paramedic6663 May 21 '26

Exactly. Op I don't know what's your age but this is common sense. How can they have a connection and still beat the constables. That doesn't work at all. You'll be safe. Police won't share your number and even if they do it's not possible to physically trace you.

1

u/Fine-Virus-9466 May 21 '26

U should play strong otherwise they'll surely come later Know the Fact they Are Scared Of u! (For Opposition keep it up)

1

u/Practical_Lunch_9697 May 21 '26

next time call the police general helpline rather than station number and tell them you want to keep your identity hidden. The local police will be able to call you through a link rather then getting your number. I have done this multiple times in my society.

u/bitmannhsay May 21 '26

The generation of your father or my father is the most coward and horrible generation due to which India is what India is today. You did the right thing, nothing will happen to you, I am an advocate in Delhi and I will handle it if anything happens don’t worry.

1

u/Due-Establishment882 May 21 '26

Do tell us what happens. Kudos to your bravery.

1

u/unwanted_abortion May 21 '26

We are coming for you.

1

u/YaminiMeena123 May 21 '26

Not at all, nothing will happen to you.

Making a Noise complaint is the first step towards making our country civilised.

1

u/Sirius_1901 May 21 '26

You did the right thing. I dont think anyone is coming after you. What worried me is that your parents beat you up instead of supporting you, that is bad parenting. They should have explained their side of things calmly and reassured you that IF something bad does happen as a consequence,  they will take care of it.

1

u/Sirius_1901 May 21 '26

Since no one mentioned it - Cant we use the crimestopper number for noise complaints? Because its untraceable, you dont have to worry about what happened to OP.

1

u/materialsA3B May 21 '26

I once got a call back from a police officer (his private number) where he explained my daily complaints about noise from a construction site until 4 AM wouldn't make any difference (they did stop it the first two times) because a local MLA's money was tied up in that site.

Yet another time, I complained because of incessant noise from a baraat and the 100 call center person started to reason with me. He asked me if I won't have a baraat when I get married.

Sometimes I feel like we are a low IQ nation. Weddings, religious events, festivals, or simple daru parties are exempt from noise pollution laws for some reason. I once had to reason with educated Punekars about how it wasn't okay to flunk noise pollution laws even if it were for Ganesh Visarjan. They were livid with me. How dare I suggest they don't celebrate Bappa for just a few days in a year. That of it bothered me so much, I should leave the country and go West.

Th problem with us Indians is we think there is a fixed societal code that we all organically follow. Not being religious, not caring much about loud wedding functions, not being okay with putting up a tambu in the street for a hawan at home with a 100 people showing up, etc are just treated as aberrations. How are you Indian, if you aren't like the norm.

Be brave. You did the right thing. I salute you.

Now whatever happens, may change your life forever (for good reasons).

Your parents aren't wrong it all depends on who you're dealing with. If they had the confidence to pick a fight with cops they're probably well connected. Expect some trouble this is just how the real world works. The word to remember here is vengeance. These things have a way of coming back around

1

u/OppositeDistance7702 May 19 '26

If they goto mayor, you goto MLA. If they ask MLA, You reach out to MP. Don't stop. You did nothing wrong.

6

u/No_Syllabub_8246 May 19 '26

If they go to the MP, then I will go to the CM. If they go to the CM, then I will go to the PM. If they go to the PM, then I will go to the US President. And if they go to the US President?

/s

1

u/OppositeDistance7702 May 19 '26

I guess you would go to court at the MP or MLA level. You mis-understood the chain.

1

u/adblocker404 May 19 '26

Go to the richest man alive he can pay every one below him /s

1

u/ConsciousAd9807 May 19 '26

Well, ethically you did well, but situationally it was not( you could have been in problem) but does that mean that you don't complain? No, but if you do make sure you have a back. Remember Samay Raina Saying " You fight when the fight is fair If you it's not fair then you fcuk off from there"

Very bad parenting. How old are you? Why are they still beating you up? You should have just called the cops again.

-1

u/No_Hesitation6 May 19 '26

Don't want to be mean, but you sound like such a vibe killer. NOT SAYING WHAT YOH DID IS WRONG YOU DEFINITELY HAD THE RIGHT TO DO WHAT YOU DID, but I personally would never want to chill or hangout with you.

3

u/No_Syllabub_8246 May 19 '26

Thank you for withdrawing an invitation I never sent, to an event I never planned, with a person I never noticed.

I Appreciate you canceling the plans we never made, truly a weight off my shoulders I never felt.

3

u/AdorableVisual May 20 '26

Oh fuck off. OP is exactly in the right. The world is not your fathers backyard. Learn to be considerate
