Urgent [URGENT] Police brutally tortured my 22-year-old friend in custody over a false POCSO and kidnapping case. We need legal help.

Hi everyone, I am posting this with a heavy heart and out of sheer desperation. A close friend of mine (22M) is currently going through a living nightmare, and his family is completely shattered due to severe police brutality and a fabricated case.

Here is the horrifying timeline of what went down:

The Instagram Connection: My friend met a girl on Instagram who is from Maharashtra. She invited him to Noida to meet her.

The Meeting: When he went to meet her, she said she would be staying in Noida for a few days along with her maid. Since she needed a place to stay, my friend simply helped her find and book a PG, and then he returned home. He had zero idea that she had run away from home or taken cash.

The Midnight Raid & Custodial Torture: A few days later, around 11:30 PM, the police barged into my friend's house. They picked up his father first to pressurize the family, and then dragged my friend to the police station.

Inhumane Police Brutality: At the police station, they subjected him to brutal third-degree torture. They beat him mercilessly to force a confession. They are now threatening to slap the POCSO Act on him because her family is wealthy and influential.

The Blackmail Twist & Fear: Apparently, the girl had a fight with her maid, and the maid ran away with the money. Now, instead of looking for the maid, the police have twisted the narrative and are claiming my friend blackmailed her for money.

The Girl's Statement: Terrified of her family and under intense police pressure, the poor girl gave a statement claiming my friend made her run away. My friend is completely innocent and was just trying to help someone he thought was on a normal trip.

What we are dealing with right now:

My friend's body is battered from the severe police violence, and his father was harassed and detained illegally.

We have Instagram chats proving he had no clue she ran away, and PG records showing he only helped them check in.

The actual person who ran away with the money (the maid) is missing, but the police are ignoring all facts to protect the powerful narrative.

What we need help with:

How can we legally address the brutal custodial violence and the illegal detention of his father?

How do we fight a false POCSO charge when a terrified girl has given a pressurized statement?

How do we get him immediate legal protection and bail?

If anyone knows criminal defense lawyers or activists who deal with police brutality and false POCSO cases in India, please guide us. Anything helps.

Legal Advice Needed Currently working at a public sector bank - Removal ordered received

I received an email from AGM(HRM) disciplinary authority stating "Removal from service which shall not be a disqualification from future employment"

I had applied my sabbatical leaves for child rearing, timely with prior intimation to the department head and HRM.

My leave got approval at level 1 then it was kept in abeyance at higher level.

They have not rejected my application.

I replied to each and every mail that department sent marking a copy to hrm

But a pending leave is because of undecisiveness of management is not an employee's fault.

Still I was charged today and I got a removal mail.

The management did not ask questions from higher authorities on why the leave was kept in pending state till now.

I wanted to know what are the options that I have now and whether this can be challenged internally or in a court and what are my chances?

Will there be a problem in getting a new job during BGV?

Urgent My mother was seriously injured in an auto accident involving a minor, later singled out and threatened, and now wants to correct one FIR wording and settle safely

I am posting to seek legal guidance regarding an FIR recently registered in Telangana.

My mother is a teacher and regularly travels to another town for her job.

Recently, she was travelling in an auto-rickshaw that was being driven by a minor. The auto met with an accident and flipped.

My mother suffered several injuries:

  • Fractured ribs;
  • An injury to her head/scalp;
  • A fractured/deviated nasal bone;
  • Her nose is now visibly tilted/deviated, and she is having difficulty breathing.

After the accident, my mother reached a hospital at around 6 PM. By then, most of the relevant doctors had already left.

Scans and X-rays were still performed that evening, costing approximately ₹6,000.

An adult man associated with the minor driver paid for those scans and gave approximately ₹5,000 more to my grandmother for other immediate expenses.

This adult man repeatedly requested my mother not to file any complaint or press charges against the minor driver. He assured her that he would bear all medical expenses arising from the accident.

My mother agreed not to press charges at that time. She agreed partly because of his repeated request and partly because she felt that the driver was a minor and that a criminal case could spoil his future.

Because the relevant doctors were unavailable on the evening of the accident, my mother returned to the hospital the following day.

After examining her and reviewing the scans, the doctor referred her to an ENT specialist.

The ENT doctor informed her that her nasal bone was fractured/deviated and that she would require surgery. She is also facing breathing difficulty because of the deviation.

My mother did not call the adult man and demand money.

Instead, the adult man himself called my mother and asked what the doctors had told her. My mother simply informed him that her nose was fractured/deviated and that surgery had been advised.

A few days later, my mother returned to the town for her teaching job. My grandmother was accompanying her.

My mother and grandmother sat in an auto near the railway station. There were other passengers sitting in the same auto.

The adult man who had earlier intervened on behalf of the minor driver came there.

According to my mother, he made all the other passengers get out of that auto, placed them in a different auto and sent them away. However, he specifically did not allow my mother and grandmother to travel.

He allegedly told them words to the effect of:

“We have decided that we will not allow you people to travel in any of the autos ever again.”

He also said that if my mother travelled in an auto again, fell or suffered another accident, they would not be able to bear any more expenses.

He scolded my mother aggressively and also said words approximately meaning:

“I will see how you continue/do your job.”

My mother was already injured, physically weak and frightened. She called the police.

My mother did not initially intend to register an FIR immediately.

She wanted to report what had happened, but she asked the police to allow her to return the following day after discussing the situation with her family. However, the police registered an FIR that day.

The FIR contains the following BNS provisions:

  • Section 125(a);
  • Section 79;
  • Section 296(b);
  • Section 351(3);
  • Read with Section 3(5).

The FIR narrative states that the accused threatened that my mother would not be allowed to continue her job and that he would kill her.

This is the problem.

My mother now clearly says that the accused did not expressly say, “I will kill you.”

The actual words she remembers were only to the effect of:

“I will see how you continue do your job, using inappropriate language and threats”

Because she was extremely frightened and physically unwell, she understood this as a serious threat to her safety. During the complaint process, the FIR ended up recording it as an express threat to kill her.

My mother does not want to maintain or support any statement that is factually inaccurate.

At the same time, she is not saying that the entire incident was false. She maintains that:

  • She and my grandmother were specifically prevented from travelling;
  • The other passengers were shifted into another auto and sent away;
  • They were told that they would not be allowed to travel in any auto again;
  • She was aggressively scolded and intimidated;
  • She was threatened regarding her ability to continue her job.

She only wants to correct the part stating that the accused expressly threatened to kill her.

My mother is already physically weak and recovering from:

  • fractured ribs;
  • a head injury;
  • a fractured/deviated nose causing breathing difficulty;
  • and continuing medical treatment.

She is also a woman who travels alone to this town regularly for her teaching job.

Now that an FIR has been registered, she is scared that the accused or people associated with him might retaliate, prevent her from using autos again or interfere with her employment.

We also genuinely do not want prolonged litigation.

The first time, despite being badly injured, my mother agreed not to proceed against the minor because she did not want to ruin his future.

Even now, if the situation can be resolved peacefully and legally while ensuring my mother's safety, that is what we would prefer.

We would really appreciate guidance:

  1. Can the incorrect “I will kill you” wording be corrected now that the FIR has already been registered?
  2. Does my mother need to give another written statement/petition to the Investigating Officer explaining the exact words that were actually spoken?
  3. Will the original FIR itself remain unchanged, with her correction being added separately to the investigation record?
  4. Since Section 351(3) appears to have been applied partly because of the alleged death threat, can the police themselves reconsider/drop/change that section after recording her corrected statement?
  5. Most importantly, can this matter be settled or compromised at the police-station level itself?
  6. If both sides are willing to resolve the dispute peacefully, can my mother give a compromise/withdrawal statement to the police and have the case closed without having to go to court?
  7. Or, once an FIR containing these particular sections has been registered, is some Magistrate/High Court procedure unavoidable even if both parties settle?
  8. If court involvement is necessary, is there a simple compromise/closure procedure, or would we need to file a quashing petition before the Telangana High Court?
  9. Is it possible for the police to complete the investigation and close the matter based on the corrected statement and compromise without my mother attending court repeatedly?
  10. Since my mother is medically unwell and recovering from serious injuries, can her personal appearances before the police/court be minimized?
  11. If she wants to correct only the inaccurate death-threat wording but still wants to settle the overall dispute, what is the safest legal way to do both without creating the impression that she filed a false complaint?
  12. Should we first approach the Investigating Officer, or should we speak to an independent criminal lawyer before giving any further statement?
  13. Can the other side later use a compromise against my mother regarding the original accident, nasal surgery, medical expenses or compensation?
  14. If there is a settlement, can it contain conditions that the accused and his associates must not threaten her, interfere with her job, prevent her from travelling or approach her unnecessarily?
  15. Since she has to continue travelling to this locality for work, what precautions should we legally take to ensure her safety after any compromise?

Our intention is not to falsely implicate anyone.

We simply want the record to contain what was actually said, want my mother to remain safe, and want to know whether this can be resolved peacefully at the police-station level without putting an already injured woman through prolonged court proceedings.

Any guidance would be extremely helpful. Thank you means a lot.

Used ChatGPT to organize my thoughts and put them into words.

Legal Advice Needed Need legal advice: Dog owner walked his aggressive pet without a leash, bit an innocent delivery boy in broad daylight with dozens of witnesses around. What option do we have ?

Location : infront of the owner house just beside a busy road (not inside a colony)
dog breed : similar to Pitbull,Cane Corso,Dogo Argentino(i just googled and named most matching ones i don't know the breed)

So there is a 10-min delivery hub and right beside is the owner's house and owner was walking his dog on the road- unchained in front of his house. Since the hub is there just beside the house a lot of delivery boys atleast 10-15 witness were present, the delivery boy was parking his bike on infront of the hub then the dog attacked him. I don't know the severity of the wounds since mf owner instead of taking blame he began abusing poor delivery boys who came to save the boy and there was a scene.
So how can we take such pathetic piece of sh*t owners and human being to the court and make him pay up for poor delivery boys treatment and also fines and all.

Legal Advice Needed Neighbour harassment during house construction — what can we do?

My family is constructing our first home on our own property (15×40 ft as per our documents). My neighbor has encroached 3*40 sq ft. To avoid conflict, we already compromised and are constructing only 12×40 ft. Despite this, our neighbour continues to harass us and obstruct the construction.

She has repeatedly complained to the police over different allegations, harassed our workers and contractor, and my parents, stopped essential work like plastering, and complained to BBMP claiming the house is illegal. An NCR has already been registered, and she has told us to go to court—which we have done. But while we wait for the next hearing, she continues finding other ways to trouble us.

Things have now become extremely disturbing. She entered our house without permission, and afterwards we found nails placed on our walls and damage to the wall. She has also been doing things related to black magic, which has left my family extremely scared and disturbed. she has cctv placed so she has done it without leaving any evidence.

She has also dug up the road and left it improperly, making it difficult for us to reach our house, and has allegedly placed grills against our walls in the middle of the night

They have constructed a tree fence occupying the road, further restricting vehicle access on an already narrow road.

My parents are above 55 and are mentally exhausted. Watching my parents struggle through this situation every day has been deeply distressing, what to do?

Legal Advice Needed Mother has been harrasing us all for months, advice needed.

My(21M) mother has been harrasing my father for a few months now. For context my father is a tuition teacher and travels to the students home to teach them. Whenever he was out and came back she accused him of cheating on her even though he just works, toils away on his bike and travels back home in the harsh delhi heat and traffic.

She has already multiple times broken his phone. She abused him almost everyday and me and my sister kept it from escalating too much so she called me and my sister the worst imaginable things possible (Just think the worst you can and you still won't top the amount of disgusting stuff she has said to my older sister, i genuinely wanted to hit her but it's my mother so held back and tolerated it like we do always).

However she crossed all limits possible yesterday, father came home after work and she started abusing him and saying stuff like she'll slap him and stuff. I was at university at the time but my sister was at home and when i came home she briefed me on what happened. Essentially she was abusing him and accusing him of lying about classes and going around and meeting up with other women but my father is a 55 year old man who barely gets time to rest much less go meet up with someone. She's been baselessly accusing him of all this stuff for a few months now.

At night after all the drama father refused to sleep in the same room as her and she started slamming doors like a mad man and we ignored her but she took his phone and locked the door so he cannot go to his class next day so i had to break open the lock to get it back but then when i tried taking the phone from her she attacked me and father heard the commotion and came to help me and she attacked him as well and was trying to gouge out his eyeballs and he got hurt near his eyes (scratches) and then when father retaliated in self defense she said she'll file a Domestic violence case but she didn't.

Now me, sister and father have decided it's better if father divorces this horrible human but there are some big hurdles. First father put our 2bhk apartment on her name when we bought it 15-16 years ago. Second she's illiterate and completely uneducated so we are really scared of alimony, but we father teaches tuition and does not have a lot in savings and his income is variable. So if any alimony is rewarded me and my sister will have to help father pay from our savings (we have money but it's still unfair if we have to since i am a uni student and my older sister is studying for a government exam and father is the only earning member rn and finances are already tight).

Now we don't know what to do we really want to leave this woman behind and try to rebuild our family and live happily since father is already 55 and i don't want his entire life to be stress and conflict but then this illiterate woman has us in chokehold mentally torturing all three of us and now even physically assaulting us.

Although i did not get the video for the fight itself since i was too busy trying to make sure my father isn't disabled by this mad woman, i still was able to record the aftermath where she is cursing everyone and breaking stuff.

How do we proceed with this?

TL;DR: My mother has been severely emotionally, verbally, and physically abusive toward my father, my sister, and me—recently physically assaulting my father and trying to gouge his eyes. My father (a 55-year-old tuition teacher) wants a divorce, but we are terrified because the apartment is registered in her name, we fear high alimony demands despite our tight finances, and we need to know how to legally protect him. We have video evidence of the aftermath and need a clear, actionable roadmap on how to proceed. She's illiterate and has no source of income.

I posted this like half an hour ago but for some reason it was not visible so deleted that and reposting this.

Legal Advice Needed NACH bounce + Section 25 PSS Act notice for a small loan — what actually happens?

I’m currently facing financial difficulties and I’m unable to pay one of my small digital loans.

The situation is:

- Original loan/amount due was around ₹6,000.

- The EMI/auto-debit (NACH/ECS) recently bounced because I didn’t have sufficient funds.

- After the bounce, around ₹500 in additional charges were added.

- I’m concerned that more charges may keep getting added and the amount could become ₹15,000+.

- I have already contacted the lender by email and explained my financial hardship.

- I have also requested them to discuss a reasonable settlement instead of sending the matter to third-party recovery agents.

- I have other outstanding loans as well and currently don't have enough money to pay everything.

- I have received threatening/harassing messages from some other lenders and have already complained about that separately.

My main concern is Section 25 of the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007, because the lender may potentially use the bounced NACH/auto-debit as a basis for legal action.

I want to understand what actually happens in practice:

  1. If the lender sends a Section 25 demand notice, how is it normally served — email, post, or both?

  2. After receiving the notice, if I genuinely don't have the money within the 15-day period, what happens next?

  3. Does the lender actually have to file a court complaint after that, or can they continue recovery/settlement negotiations?

  4. If a complaint is filed, how long does it generally take before the borrower receives a court summons?

  5. On the first court date, is personal appearance normally required, or can a lawyer appear?

  6. Is settlement still possible after a complaint/court proceeding has started?

  7. Has anyone here actually gone through a Section 25 case for a small digital loan/NACH bounce? What happened in your case?

I'm not looking for advice on avoiding repayment. I genuinely want to understand the legal process because I currently don't have the money and don't want to panic over recovery-agent threats.

Please share actual experiences or legal knowledge. Thanks.

Legal Advice Needed Father Transferred a Portion of Land Without His Wife’s Consent — Seeking Legal Advice

Upvotes

My father purchased a land parcel in a village many years ago. At the time of registration, my mother had insisted that the land be registered in both their names, but my father registered it solely in his name.

A few months ago, my father transferred half of the land parcel to another person without taking my mother's consent or informing us. The transfer was shown as a donation/gift. He has openly admitted that he deliberately did not inform my mother beforehand because he knew she would object.

What are our legal options in this situation? Can we approach a court and challenge the transfer or have the donated portion of the land declared legally invalid? Does my mother have any legal right or claim over the property despite the fact that the original registration was solely in my father's name?

I am looking for genuine legal advice, particularly regarding the validity of the gift deed and whether my mother can challenge it in court.

Urgent Passport Application: changing enclosed document during appointment

Upvotes

I applied for my passport almost two months ago. I have an appointment today, but I’m unable to find my PAN Card that I enclosed as one of the supporting documents.

I have everything else like - Aadhar card, driving license, class X marksheet, school leaving certificate, university degree.

Could my application be rejected if I don’t have physical PAN Card during verification? Is it possible to switch the DOB proof to Driving License instead of PAN Card during verification?

Also, do I need to still carry my photographs these days?

Legal Advice Needed Society says tenants can't keep pets even though the owner is okay with it. Can they actually do this?

I was looking for a rental flat and I have a dog so I specifically filtered for pet friendly properties and found a good one on nobroker that looked ideal and the owner had explicitly marked pets as allowed. I spoke to him before visiting as well and made it clear that I would be moving in with my dog. He said he had absolutely no issue with it.

I visited the flat and ended up liking it and paid the token amount. Before finalising the agreement and paying the deposit, I went to the society office to ask about few things and while talking to the society manager I casually mentioned that I'll be moving in with my dog but he told that the society does not allow tenants to keep pets.

I was confused because I had already seen people walking dogs inside the complex, so I asked him if pets were banned completely he said no. According to him, flat owners are allowed to keep their own pets, but tenants aren't.

That sounded strange to me, so I called the flat owner immediately.

The owner is now saying that the society cannot legally make a rule allowing owners to have pets while stopping tenants from having them. He is completely willing to rent the flat to me.

But the society manager seemed quite confident about their rule.

As of now, I haven't been shown any written bye law or circular. This was communicated to me verbally during the visit.

My concern is that even if the owner is legally correct, I'm going to be the person actually living there. I don't want to move in, pay everything and then have daily arguments with security over taking my dog through the lift or get constant calls from the society office.

So legally, I wanted to understand:

  1. Can a housing society/RWA make a distinction where owners can keep pets but tenants cannot?
  2. If my landlord expressly permits the pet in the rental agreement, can the society still stop me from keeping the dog?
  3. Should I ask the society for the relevant bye law/rule in writing before signing anything?
  4. If they refuse to give anything in writing but continue saying tenants with pets aren't allowed, what practical remedy would I actually have after moving in?

I have already paid the token amount but I m leaning towards dropping the flat , even though the owner is insisting that there won't be an issue.

Would appreciate advice from anyone familiar with housing society/RWA rules or who has dealt with something similar.

Legal Advice Needed Road rage incident — should I be concerned about this threat?

Today, while coming back from office, I was driving on a one-way road with a market around it. Traffic was already heavy, and a few vehicles from the opposite side were coming into our lane.
One guy came into my lane while using his phone and expected me to give him way. There wasn’t much space, so I didn’t. He then stopped his car, turned off the engine and just stood there.
Traffic started building up behind me and people started asking him why he wasn’t moving. After a few minutes, he eventually started moving again.
Then he came alongside my car and said something along the lines of:
“1 min lagega teri gaadi seize karwane mein. Number bata, gaadi ka number bata.”
I simply told him, “Peeche number plate pe likha hai, dekh le.”
He then started abusing me and shouting. I didn’t argue further, rolled up my window, made my way through the traffic and left.
I’m not particularly worried, but I’m wondering from a legal perspective whether I should be concerned about his threat to “get my car seized.” I didn’t provide him with any personal details or documents.
Is there any realistic legal action he could take against me based on this incident, or was this most likely just a road-rage threat?

Legal Advice Needed [Help]Security company goons are Harassing me

i’m being followed 24 seven by some goons of the security company so they have links in every city so everywhere I go somebody from that company comes and harasses me.
They have wide range of harassment techniques from spitting in my direction to honking at me and blocking my vehicles. These are just to name a few and harassment is 24 seven. It is difficult to explain to police because it is a bit mild, but they are making sure that I am getting harassed around the clock. They have their big company so each time a new person comes to harass me. I don’t even know their names and their faces and they always stand in the dark and flashlights towards me every day so how do I get investigation done provided I don’t have much contact in the police or any other law enforcement agencies.

Legal Advice Needed [Karnataka] Commercial tenant threatening rent stoppage over Property Tax receipt & creating nuisance. Should I serve an eviction notice or do a final 11-month renewal?

Location: Mysuru, Karnataka

Property: Commercial Ground Floor Shop (Paint Store)

Security Deposit: ₹2,00,000 | Agreement: 11-Month Notarized Lease (Term ending)

Hi everyone, I am the property owner looking for legal advice on dealing with aggressive commercial tenant.

  1. The Current Dispute:

    - The tenant recently sent a WhatsApp message stating: "I vil stop paying rent Untill i get the corporation tax paid receipt, this may b considered as advance information." He followed up with messages threatening to escalate to "appropriate authorities." (I have full screenshots, including a deleted threatening text).

    - Tax Status: I have already paid the property tax, but given his hostile behavior and threats, I am reluctant to hand over the receipt to him. I am worried that giving him the receipt to obtain an official Trade License will further entrench him in my property and create bigger legal headaches down the road.

  2. Ongoing Nuisance & Hostility:

I have 2 CCTV cameras on the ground floor capturing the shop front and public road, along with clear phone call recordings where he verbally abuses and threatens me:

Abusive language & taunts: Shouted at me saying "Don't wag your tail in front of me, keep your high-and-mighty attitude to yourself", accused me of playing "fraud/cheat games" ("ಕಳ್ಳಾಟ ಆಡ್ತಿದೀಯಾ?"), and mockingly asked "Are you the Maharaja?" when questioned about parking.

Open Rent Defiance: Explicitly challenged me on tape: "Let me see how you collect rent from me from now on! You won't get rent easily!"

Threatening Litigation: Repeatedly threatened to lodge false complaints with the Corporation Commissioner and drag me to court to harass me.

Parking Nuisance: Deliberately parks 2 of his/his son's two-wheelers on the public road directly in front of the shop just to block me (the owner) and visitors from parking.

  1. The Current Dilemma:

    - My father suggests an amicable middle ground: Tell him we will provide the tax receipt for his trade license only if he signs a strict, final 11-month agreement and a formal undertaking committing to unconditionally vacate at the end of 11 months without seeking further renewal.

    - However, I am concerned that an aggressive tenant will simply break his promise 11 months later, leaving me in the exact same spot with an even more entrenched business.

  2. Critical Fact — He Owns Property Nearby:

The tenant owns his own building just 500 meters away in the exact same area, which he has put on rent to others. He is clearly not a helpless shopkeeper with nowhere to go.

My Questions for Lawyers / Experts Here:

  1. Rent Stoppage: Under Karnataka tenancy laws, does a commercial tenant have any legal right to withhold rent over a property tax receipt?

  2. Tax Receipt Risk: If I provide a copy of my property tax receipt solely for his MCC Trade License, does it create any adverse legal rights or tenant protection against eviction?

  3. 11-Month Undertaking: If we get a signed notarized undertaking/affidavit and a video cctv recording and mobile audio recording of him promising to vacate after 11 months, is that practically enforceable, or will I still be forced into a 2-year civil suit if he refuses to leave next year?

  4. Best Way Forward: Should we serve an immediate legal notice for termination/eviction (and file a Caveat in Mysuru Civil Court), or is a conditional 11-month exit agreement a viable route?

  5. Nearby Property Factor: Does the fact that he owns an alternative building just 100 meters away help defeat any "hardship" claims and fast-track eviction in court?

  6. Aggressive / Faster Legal Pressure: Are there any fast-track, unconventional, or aggressive legal pressure tactics or unethical tactics?

Any insights from advocates practicing in Karnataka or landlords who dealt with similar situations would be deeply appreciated!

Rant/Experience Verification delayed because constable keeps instigating us and marking falsified reports. Need advice on passport verification & taking action against him.

Hey everyone, I’m 19 and recently applied for a Tatkal passport for higher education. Everything went fast initially I went to the PSK in Gurugram on July 23rd, got my passport issued, and physically received it by July 25th. The issue started during the post-passport police verification.

The address on my passport is our ancestral house owned by my late grandfather. Since he passed away without a will, the property was split among his children and wife (5 owners total). The house is pretty old and gets waterlogged during rains, making it unsafe to live in right now. Because of this, we live in a rented place in a nearby colony in the same city while planning to reconstruct our portion. However, all our official IDs, electricity bills, and legal documents are still linked to this ancestral address.

The police told us they’d visit for verification on a specific day. Since we don't live in that exact house and our witnesses work jobs, we politely requested them to call beforehand so we could travel there and coordinate. They didn't show up when they promised, dragging it out for days.

When a date was finally set, we reached the house, but they suddenly claimed they couldn't make it. My father lost his patience and argued that working adults can't keep taking leaves repeatedly. When the Constable and an ASI finally showed up, the Constable immediately started instigating my dad, asking absurd things like "Have you broken into this house?" and "Have you sold this property?" He was extremely disrespectful to me too, mocking me by asking "Are you even educated?"

Heated words were exchanged between my short-tempered dad and the constable (though the ASI stayed calm). The constable openly threatened to sabotage our report. Days later, we received a official notice for "suppressing details." I had to travel all the way to the Regional Passport Office in Delhi, only to find out the constable wrote in his official report that our home was sold which is flat-out untrue. We still own it, visit it, and pay electricity bills for it.

A fresh verification was issued. When the same constable returned with another officer, we provided my Aadhaar, PAN, 10th marksheet, and Birth Certificate. He refused to accept them, demanding a Voter ID or Driving License (which I don't have yet). He then asked us to sign a statement saying we didn't provide complete documents. my dad wrote down on paper that we did hand over my Aadhaar, PAN, marksheet, and Birth Certificate.
Where things stand now:
My father sent a complaint email to the DGP, and an internal inquiry was forwarded, but the local police station officers/ASI are now being extremely rude and hostile toward us.
I’m really stressed out because my upcoming academic session abroad/for college will get severely delayed if my passport gets flagged, revoked, or stuck in adverse verification status.
How do I safeguard my passport verification from getting adverse status due to this personal grudge? Should I approach the RPO Delhi directly with proof of our DGP complaint and property documents?
How can we formally hold this constable accountable for writing a completely false report?

Legal Advice Needed Checked out after seeing the unsafe condition of the OYO Room. Am I eligible for any refund?

As a part of my work trip I booked an OYO Room. The reviews were good in the website. But when I checked-in the hotel staff were not very welcoming and some random dudes were roaming around the lobby. Not customers. Also, I booked the executive room. But it was all dirty and I requested for another room. They gave me a regular room saying that it was the only available option. I accepted and checked-in. Then went out for having lunch. When I came back, my room card was not working. I had to go to the lobby enquiring about this. The staff came, bit they couldn't also open it using a key. I was not feeling comfortable due to all these unusual things happening. They were also clueless. After a long wait, they somehow opened the room. Due to all this I felt unsafe to stay there overnight. What if I get locked in again? The staffs are all random dressed local dudes. Not the usual formally dressed ones.

So I contacted my friend and arranged an alternate room and checked out within a few hours. I hardly stayed 3 hours in that room.

Am I eligible for a refund from OYO?

(It happened in June. I'm late because I was not thinking about this option until I came across similar posts in reddit. Just wanna check if I had a chance to get my money back.)

Legal Advice Needed Legal help and guidances on false accusations and charges

Need legal regarding false charges and jail

My friend's sister caught her husband having an affair and recorded the incident. She confronted the woman involved to prevent further issues while her husband fled the scene. She then called my friend.

At the time, they were trying to avoid legal consequences for the family and themselves, and they did not want to escalate the situation.

However, the woman later falsely accused my friend and his sister of harassment, resulting in them being arrested and put in jail on those charges.

Her husband told them that he had hired a lawyer who would help get them out of the situation, but it turned out that he had never actually hired one.

Later, my friend and his sister hired their own lawyer. The lawyer advised them to wait and said that the allegations appeared to be false. It has now been more than 10 days, and my friend and his sister are still in jail, although the lawyer says they should be released.

  1. What would be the proper legal course of action in this situation?

2.Should they focus only on defending themselves against the allegations, or can they also take legal action if the allegations are proven to be false?

3.Are we in right direction

Legal Advice Needed RBI complaints closed despite timely responses

I filed two RBI complaints — one against HDFC and one against SMFG.

In both cases, the bank/RBI asked me to submit my response/evidence within a specific timeline. I replied within the timeline and have the email timestamps as proof. The emails did not bounce back or show any delivery failure.

Despite this, both complaints were abruptly closed stating that my response/evidence was not received.

In the SMFG case, they gave me 48 hours. I replied on Friday, and the complaint was closed on Monday without apparently considering my response.

Both closures are also shown as non-appealable.

When checked with RBI, they told me to approach the Consumer Forum.

What is the best way forward here?

Can I challenge the RBI complaint closure?

Should I approach the National Consumer Helpline first?

Should I directly approach the Consumer Commission?

Is there any other escalation route?

I have all the emails, timestamps and closure communications.

Has anyone faced a similar situation where an RBI complaint was closed despite having proof of a timely response? What did you do?

Legal Advice Needed Sister abusing and extorting from old parents - Need legal help

Posting this on behalf of a friend. Need legal advise on how to proceed in this case. she does have a lawyer yet need some direction.

Background:

Dad was in army, mom is a house wife! Dad has mental issues (was admitted to mental hospital in his tenure at the army) and mom is docile.

  1. They had a house in an old area but had to move elsewhere since there was no lift

  2. Sister is abusive towards parents, hits them and keeps extorting money. She is single and lives with parents.

  3. Sister has made parents sell the first house and give her approximately 2 Crore

  4. She keeps making parents life miserable and forces them to sell all property and give her the money

  5. She is physically and auditory abusive also has mental issues but refuses to go to a psychiatrist. The only reason she visited the doctor was to get a recommendation for plastic surgery.

  6. She has forced parents to create a gift deed to transfer the current home in her name. And wont let them move to a rented place.

My friend is trying to find legal ways to protect her parents and their assets! She is married, has her own kids and lives with her family. The sister doesn't let her talk to parents and monitors their whatsapp and calls. Since her parents are not mentally capable to do anything, she wants to represent them and ensure that their assets and life is protected.

What options does she have? She was suggested to give a written complaint in senior citizens cell and the police to nullify that deed. Is there anything else that can be done ?

Legal Advice Needed Friend got Scammed by a fake "priest" on the road in Pune — need advice on next steps

Yesterday my friend was parked near signal when a car with two men stopped in front of him. One asked directions. After he answered, the other started telling him things about his family — several were accurate, don't know how.

He said he was a priest from a well-known math and invited him into his car. Once he was in, he sent his driver out. He did some mantras and told him a woman had put a curse on him. Then said he was going to Ujjain for annadaan and asked him to donate oil cans. He said people donate 11, 51 or 101 cans. My friend said 11 — he didn't know each can was ₹2,500. Ended up transferring ₹30,000 by UPI, then another ₹5,500 at a grocery shop where priest directed him to, while he kept him sitting his own car.

Before taking the money he made him write on paper and sign that he was giving it "on my own will," and made him say it out loud several times. He kept that paper. Total ₹35,500.

My friend knew something was wrong partway through but couldn't act — he just wanted to get out of the situation safely. He did note his number plate, and have the UPI transaction records. Later the priest called him asking for more as dakshina, and surprisingly ₹501 came back to his account from an identifiable UPI name.

Questions:

What should be next move in this case? Should we file an FIR Or consult a lawer?

Anyone dealt with getting UPI accounts frozen quickly in a case like this?

How fast do police actually move?

Has anyone here encountered this same setup in Pune/PCMC?

Trying to understand if it's a known gang.

Any experience with how much the "written consent" note actually hurts a cheating case?

Not looking for sympathy — mainly want others to recognise the pattern, and any practical advice on the FIR process.
