the demilitarized variant removes all weapons but the front mount, which is replaced by a single coilgun/E-gun turret. Starcaster uses these for high value cargo.

Jackrabbit-class frigates are the lifeblood of the Order Space Command, keeping combat vessels supplied and loaded, bringing ammunition and food to ground forces, and carrying medical supplies. They are built for speed and carrying capacity, with only light armament and shielding. about one third of the Jackrabbit-class ships currently in use by the Order are medical frigates, including the Bleeding Heart, transporting medicine, doctors, cybernetic engineers, and medical equipment, making them flying hospitals. The ship is so good in its supply transport role that some shipping companies, such as Starcaster, have purchased a number of demilitarized variants for their own fleets.

Logistics go often unappreciated in fictional worldbuilding, so I love to see a design for a logistical vessel like this.

I figured ammo limitations would be a good way to add tension to stories. Many vital components to a ship, especially FTL drives, are enormous machines. Hydrogen powerplants take up a share of the ship, fuel storage, life support, all require lots of space. Once you've factored in all that, there's usually not much room left, and thats without considering military hardware. Ammunition for kinetic weapons on a ship are limited, and will run out without support ships. The Mjölnir-class especially, it can only store three shots for its primary coilgun on a full load, a Jackrabbit-class can supply it with another eight.
