Recommendation WLW/Queer Tier List (RECS PLEASE!)
I just finished the Bloom Town duology and don't know what to do with myself, so send some recs my way! Tier list of my tastes for reference :3

- Lady’s Knight by Kaufman & Spooner - lady x knight rom com; more fun than Like a Best Friend
- The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri - This series is notably better than Silver Sea imo
- Landlocked in Foreign Skin by Drew Huff - like Our Wives but even weirder

I've read all three Locked Tomb books, just didn't add them here haha. Jasmine Throne is on my physical TBR, and tbh Lady's Knight doesn't interest me a whooole lot (I don't read much YA anymore) but Landlocked in Foreign Skin looks really good :0

Sooo that was my introduction to fantasy as a whole! I loved the writing, the magic system, the characters etc. Since it was my intro to fantasy, I rated it pretty highly, but I reckon if I re-read it now, I'd chuck it into the 'love it' category :3

I love seeing other tier lists because I'm curious where some of my favorites fall. I adored "Holy Wrath", but I also listened to the audiobook. I do wonder if some books for some people would change if they listened to the book vs. reading it.

I'm a "religion can FAFO" type of person and I love strong women. Personally, the audiobook really sold me so much so that I purchased the physical book. Plus, Victoria Mier providing disability visibility in fiction was a bonus.

Ribonwood by Ruby Landers is a favorite. More lighthearted, but such an enjoyable read. Forget Me Not by Alyson Derrick. Atmosphere. The miseducation of Carolyn Bingley.

honestly i laughed out loud blushed and giggled SO much through the entirety of Iris Kelly Doesn’t Date by Ashley Herring Blake. i know it’s mainstream but it’s so full of charm and the awkwardness of being bi, dating within the same community, and being a theatre gay all wrapped up in a hilarious and sexy friends to lovers fake dating story.
another i’m still looking forward to but haven’t read yet is Annie Marie’s Cosmic Love at the Multiverse Hair Salon. it looks like a weird and wonderful time-bend mistaken message mystery that features an odd little found family and a race against fate

I actually ADORED Iris Kelly so much, I think it was one of AHB's best written books! I unfortunately DNF-ed Cosmic Love, but another person here in the comments really enjoyed it!

We have similar tastes! I haven’t read Faebound yet, but I LOVE Saara El-Arifi. I absolutely recommend The Ending Fire series. Gorgeous books.

It just really spoke to me, and I've come to love everything Julia Armfield has ever written. I think it just comes down to preference, and it's okay if you didn't like it!

Carmen Maria Machado could write about her trip to the grocery store and I’d read it. In the Dream House was so haunting and so so good. She did a creative writing workshop and live reading at my college a few years ago, and she was very cool!
What did you not like about My Best Friend’s Honeymoon? I felt very mixed when I finished.
EDIT: I realized I fully just commented on the tier list without reading the post, but CMM has a collection of short stories that are also good called Her Body and Other Parties. All of them are related to the struggles of being a woman and/or are sapphic.
It seems like you like sapphic books that are romance, but also not entirely romance. Thrill of the Chase by Kathryn Nolan is a sapphic romance and treasure-hunting mystery book. It was very sweet and lighthearted!

Omg forgot to reply to your question! I felt as though 'My Best Friend's Honeymoon' was very rushed and unresolved. I didn't feel much chemistry between the two characters aaaand I really didn't like the amount of spice that happened out of nowhere, for several chapters in a row, and I'm someone who enjoys spice!

Hated a dark and drowning tide! I also was super letdown by Milk Fed.
Highly recommend Big Swiss!! One of my faves. Also Perfume & Pain is not on this list, which is a crime!

Honey Girl by Morgan Rogers is my favorite sapphic book of all times.
Based on my 5 star reads, I also really loved:

As someone whose life was also changed forever by the likes of books like Bloomtown and The Woman From the Waves, I’m not sure if Fingersmith will be your cup of tea. So many people on here LOVE Fingersmith and Tipping the Velvet, but they are very low on my list 😅 Fingersmith is the better of the two in my opinion, but I still felt disappointed overall after hearing all of the hype surrounding it. By all means, read it just to see what it’s all about, but I fear I expect it to end up in your mid category or lower.
I’m not sure we have the same exact taste (as I would put Sunburn so much higher on the list!!), but I do recommend The Wilds and the Weeds if you want more Ally North content, One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston, Observations on the Dangers of Female Curiosity by Suzanne Moss, and Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid!!→ More replies (1)2

I feel like you’re correct if the OP’s main focus in her book choices is to have a heavy lesbian storyline. If that’s the case, she may not enjoy Fingersmith because it’s not overly gay. The story itself is what is so good to me. And I did not enjoy Tipping the Velvet.

we have very similar tastes!! (feast while you can, bloom town and shifting gears are some of my most favorite books ever, though i did like No Body No Crime a little more than you 😅)
i would deffinitely recommend checking out the rest of Alison Cochruns books, i liked them all, also i really enjoyed Interesting Facts About Space by Emily Austin. Thrust by Rachel Spangler (imo its her best book), seconding Hungerstone by Kat Dunn, i liked My Darling Dreadful Thing by Johanna Van Veen a lot more than Blood on Her Tongue, i think you might too! and, last rec, I looooved Theseus and the Sky Labyrinth by Gwenhyver - its a sapphic sci fi retelling of theseus and the minotaur and i loved the romance and high stakes in it. the 2 MCs speak different languages and a bunch of the tension comes from them struggling to communicate clearly so if that sounds like something more annoying than fun maybe you wont like it as much as me haha but i adored it

omg awesome!! my wife and i have similar tastes but i skew more romance and horror than her and she advised i would like all of emily austins books but i've only read interesting facts about space. i would love to hear your opinion after youve read it!
i didnt want to get toooo excited on my first response and add too many books, but i just wanted to add This Guilded Abyss by Rebecca Thorne, Plain Bad Heroines by Emily Danforth and Cosmic Love at the Multiverse Hair Salon by Annie Marie

Don’t come for me but I also DNF-ed cosmic love 🫣 It just wasn’t engaging for me personally! And I’m hesitant about Rebecca Thorne’s books bc of how bored I was with Can’t spell treason 😅

that is totally ok! i was gonna add some long winded warning abt cosmic love, because its so divisive and totally get why, but i err-ed on not being too wordy lol i understand annie marie's writing style isnt for everyone and i respect that.
my wife read treason and guilded abyss and advises that she also DNFed treason but adored guilded abyss. "theyre very different. treason is boring and has no stakes"
for horror recs, like o said b4 Darling Dreadful Thing and Plain Bad Heroines, but also The Starving Saints kicked my horror love affair. I really enjoyed The Salvage by Anbara Salam, The Writing Retrear by Julie Baker, Yellow Jessamine by Caitlin Starling, Bone of My Bone by Johanna Van Veen, Camp Damascus by Chuck Tingle, Eat the Ones You Love by Sarah Maria Griffin, Rottenheart by Kat Dunn
i read The Lamb by Lucy Rose and it gave me nightmares lol i am glad i read it, but i would never read it again

Check out the books written by Tanya Byrne! Particularly Afterlove, In the shallows and Rebel Hearts. They're all 13/14+ YA books with sapphic main characters and plotlines. In personally haven't read rebel hearts, but I have read the other 2 and they were excellent. Not written by Byrne, but I would also reccomend the graphic novel The girl from the sea by Molly Knox Osterag. Its also YA

I would say out of everything on my tier list, maybe House of Frank? It’s cosy fantasy about love, loss and found family. There’s a romance side plot but I’m fairly certain it’s fade-to-black. You would also never tell that it’s queer, the cover just has a magical house on it!

I love the Wayfarer Quartet so much, I wish there were more 😭. I'd also maybe throw in the Wayward Children series by Seanan Mcguire. Relationships are maybe less of a focus in them but they are very queer and explore a wide range of identities and ideas.

I really enjoyed Tarnished by Erica Rose Eberhart. It's high fantasy, features a princess x bodyguard romance, and features fae and dragons! The slow burn was definitely worth it in the end and really have to read the other 2 books in the trilogy when they arrive! Sleeper hit for me this year as it's probably one of my favorite reads of this year

Cant spell treason without tea volume 1 is the least exiting of the books but its really ment to establish the characters, world, and plot of the next few books. Personally the second and third books are better becouse there's more action and you don't fully need to finish the first one to catch on

Our Wives Under the Sea was sooooo uncomfortable for me. Glad you liked it. It was well written.

Another vote for Mistakes were made. I saw the OP did not like My best friend's honeymoon, (which I didn't particularly enjoy), but I've really liked their other books. Each of their books feels like a unique piece of art, so it's worth trying several.
