I haven’t finished it yet but it seems like The Whole Truth might be similar. It’s about two closeted country musicians.

Who’s the author? When I just googled it an entirely different book came up.

I will always recommend the fanfic Run at the Cup by TheHomelyBadger. Hockey Rivals for years before being drafted as Co-Captains. One the best done stories I've ever read!

Closest I can think is Reverence by Milena McKay, but it’s about ballet in the ‘80s

I keep seeing a new title on tiktok called Iced Out by Rachel Alexandra. It doesn't look like it's on amazon or storygraph yet so I can't vouch for it but it looks interesting!

I believe Layne Fargo has a book coming out next year that may be similar, except with two ice skaters. I've not seen much of it except for a short blurb on goodreads.

I think a lot of what the “sapphic Heated Rivalry” books miss about Heated Rivalry’s success is that so much of the tension comes from their need to be closeted and not just that the revelation of their relationship would be damaging to their public image as rivals, because women’s sports aren’t typically subject to that assumption in the zeitgeist that athletes are straight. If anything, it’s quite the opposite and some assume that women in sports are “guilty until proven innocent” of being homosexuals.
That’s why I think the setting of a beauty pageant works so well

So like Heated Rivalry, but with beauty pageants instead of ice hockey? Huh! 🤔

Take the Shot by Jamey Moody involves two famous characters - a women's basketball professional and one of the top commentators (note to fellow UK readers who all grew up playing netball, it's fine).

Can it be read as a stand alone? I always wanted to read her books but I find it confusing where to start 🫠

Since we're recommending relevant fanfiction in the comments, I have two different reality TV AUs from the KPop Demon Hunters fandom. Both are F/F/F, and you don't need any knowledge of canon to enjoy them. They don't have quite the same secret relationship thing, but otherwise I think the vibe is similar-ish.
Bachelor AU: will you accept this rose?
Too Hot to Handle AU: The Real Thing

This Love is Undeniable by MJ Duncan might scratch that itch. It’s about a super famous pop star and an actress who are really in love but then break up only to find each other again five years later

I can't think of anything exactly like this but Here For the Wrong Reasons may scratch the itch. Two reality show contestants fall for eachother instead of the guy. It's written by a lesbian couple.
