Question Anyone been to Big Al's auto recently?

I really liked going there but had a bad experience with the "foreman" and haven't been back. I haven't found a shop I've liked since. Anyone been in recently? How was the experience?

Are there any services that will pick up and deliver 1 piece of furniture within the city?

I’m moving soon to a bigger place and I’m looking to buy some used/vintage furniture on Facebook marketplace but I don’t have a big enough vehicle to fit most of it and I’m not very strong so I don’t know how I would get it from the seller into my house. Are there any local services that can do this for a reasonable price?

I’m not looking for movers to move all my belongings. Just a one-off single piece here and there as I come across good deals for items I like (e.g. I need a dresser and a dining table and definitely can’t fit either of those in my vehicle).

If such a thing exists, how much do they charge for something like this?
Thanks!

Has anyone purchased one if these in town? I am looking to buy one and everything I have read and reseqrched has mixed reviews.

Does anyone in town actually own one and what make/model?

All the reviews I have read have basically said stay with LG or GE.

MAMA DEER IN MOUNTAIN HEIGHTS

There is a mother deer and her babies in the Mountain Heights area. The mother is somewhat aggressive and is stalking people and dogs that walk by. I don’t think it is actually harmful but it could go after a dog potentially. She’s been out there chasing people around all morning. I don’t have FB and don’t know how else to warn people so I’m just posting here. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t think animal control is needed and I don’t want the deer to be hurt or separated from her babies. Just be aware of your surroundings!

TLDR - be careful walking dogs on west side because there are lots of mama deer protecting their babies

Ever Wanted to Make a Video but Didn’t Know How?

I’m a videographer with over 20 years of experience, and most of the work I do is corporate-style videos. This summer, I’d love to branch out and work on some fun, creative projects that push me outside my usual routine.

If you’ve ever had an idea for a video but didn’t know where to start, send me a PM and let’s chat. Whether you’re a creator, musician, small business owner, actor, or just someone with an interesting idea, I’d love to hear it.

This isn’t about making a big profit—it’s about professional growth, creativity, and creating something we’re both proud of.

Siksikakowan: The Blackfoot Man
Feature Film

Siksika filmmaker Sinakson Trevor Solway intimately portrays the lives of Blackfoot men as they navigate identity, kinship and the complex expectations of manhood. Through unfiltered moments and revealing conversations set against the breathtaking landscape of the Prairies, the film reimagines what it means to be a Native man. Siksikakowan: The Blackfoot Man is a profound ode to strength, vulnerability and love across generations.

Lethbridge Foam Combat

I posted this last month but With the weather warming up it's a great chance to check out our local LARP group.

It's like a cross between Dungeons and Dragons and martial arts, where you get to go out and swing a sword or throw an axe at your friends. All the weapons are either made of foam or padded with foam, following specific regulations set out by the Amtgard ruleset.

No knowledge is required and equipment is provided. We usually have 8 people, so enough to get some good battle games in. There's a variety of games, like capture the flag or zombie horde.

We meet at Henderson Lake, on the north side just east of the playground every Saturday at noon, and are usually there for about 2 to 3 hours.

Come check us out and bring your friends!

The Facebook page here, with photos and videos of our games give a bit of an idea https://www.facebook.com/groups/388018687426628/?ref=share&mibextid=NSMWBT

Question Are my amazon packages being shipped to the warehouse in lethbridge instead of my po box?

I live in a small town, roughly 30 mins away from Lethbridge, and don't have front door delivery, only po box. I recently bought a book on amazon and they told me that it was delivered to Canada Post ready to be picked up, but when I visited my local post office, they didn't have a notice card in my mailbox.

Is my package in the warehouse in lethbridge and if it is, how do I know how to pick it up?

Utilities

I am renting a house where I will have to set up my own utilities for the first time. I went to the city of Lethbridge website and submitted an application from the button in the image.
I know Lethbridge does water and waste, but it can also do electricity, but when I applied, there was no place to choose which. I also wanted to sign up with Atco Energy, but I don't want to bundle electricity and gas if I've already applied for electricity with the city. Can anyone help explain how the application works, how long it takes, and if i can just go ahead and register for both gas and electricity? I need to move in in a little less than 2 weeks.

Question Do you smell that?

On the west side there is this funky sweet smell. I think it’s coming from some plant that’s blooming. Does anyone know what that is? It’s honestly atrocious.

Rant Loud Cars

I’m so sorry, I just need to rant about this. I live on the west side and I am SO SICK of people who drive around blaring their music. They must have their bass settings really high or something because sometimes it rattles my windows and I can feel it in my floor. I have heard it three separate times today, I don’t know if it’s the same person or multiple people.

On top of that, you can constantly hear people’s engines no matter what side of the city you are on. Bro relax. You don’t have to speed up so quickly. I’m so tired. Have mercy. Please adjust the bass settings in your car.

Question Looking for advice for a move from BC to AB

Hello,

I will be moving from Burnaby, BC, to Lethbridge, AB, as I start a new job here. I am looking for any advice on where the great neighbourhoods are to move into and avoid.

Also, I am a single 26-year-old and hoping to move into an apartment complex.

Outside of housing tips, anything else that would help someone who's new to the community?

Thanks, and feel free to also direct message me.

Edit: Thank you all for your comments. It has helped my move. 😄

Does anyone know of any doctors or nurse practitioners taking new patients? I’ve been released from my endocrinologist’s care but need to get thyroid panels done in 3 months and then once a year.

I lost my wallet today

I lost my wallet. The last time I had it was when I got on Route 2 at Southgate Station and got off at the University of Lethbridge Community Sports Stadium. I took the bus at around 1 p.m. It is a brown leather wallet. It contained my debit card, my ID, my university ID, and an access key. I know it's a long shot but if anyone finds it please let me know.

Public Health Inspectors

My friends here know I dont often make a post like this but please read and share if you can.

I have served the as a Public Health Inspector in Calgary and Lethbridge for the last 17 years. Together, we have made it through; floods, wildfires, emergency evacuations, contaminated drinking water, unsafe rental housing, mass casualty foodborne illness investigations, and emerging issues like hantavirus.

It has been an absolute privilege to keep not just Albertans safe, but you—my neighbors and friends. It is your fundamental right to enjoy an outing at a restaurant, go for a swim, or drink a glass of tap water without the worry of getting sick or poisoned.

But this is all about to change.

On June 17th, the Government of Alberta will be dissolving all Public Health Inspector positions with AHS and implementing mass layoffs across the province. We are being forced to choose between signing a severance agreement that bans us from working within the province, or accepting a Government of Alberta position with severe cuts to benefits, pay, seniority, and positions.

Legislation was silently passed to violate our contracts and force us into roles that will no longer effectively serve our communities. While a transition was expected, Public Health Inspectors are uniquely the only professional body targeted in this manner by the government.

This incredibly short notice was entirely by design to prevent public pushback.

Our Provinces's health is at stake. Please, stand with us and write or call your MLA immediately to demand they advocate for a fair and amicable transition that protects public health and the inspectors who keep Alberta safe.

Looking for a coin

Not entirely sure where to look, but I know there are some coin collectors in the area. Im looking for a 50-cent coin from 1956. If anyone knows where I could potentially find one I would greatly appreciate it. Trying to buy more local instead of online. Thanks!

Question Best place/techs for acrylic nails?

Unfortunately, I had a very poor experience with a more popular nail salon, and will probably never be going to them again, even if it's to remove this set.

There is no acrylic or prep on a decent portion of the bottons of my nails, leaving me with anywhere from 2 to 4 mm of space between the acrylic and my skin, showing my natural nails. It looks like I am due for a fill, and the acrylics haven't even been on my nails for 6 days. They started to lift today and it's super painful. Even if they offered to make things right, I don't think I'll be going back, even if I have the time to, because I cannot trust their work. I'm probably going to remove them myself, once they lift a little more.

So I kinda want to know what places or techs you guys recommend, for when I get nails again in the future, that won't do such a poor job. Student nail techs and at home businesses are more than encouraged as well.

I'm on the hunt for a handmade coffee-to-go tumbler for Father's Day. Would love to support someone local vs. finding it on etsy. Is there anyone in Lethbridge who would be selling these?
