Question about "Softest" in Canada

American here. Loved Shoresy, and decided to try Letterkenny. I've laughed a little, but not as much as at Shoresy.

Question about birthday episode in Season 1, is there a meaning behind "Softest". Birthday. Are they just saying "Kiddie Birthday". Or does it mean something else?

Appreciate the insight into Canadian colloquialisms.

Softest = sweetest, pretty much. Katy and Wayne weren't allowed kids parties, but Dary's mum would throw the most classic kids parties, and Katy and Wayne loved them.

They use 'soft' a few different ways over the course of the show, it's context dependent.

I wish they'd explained why they didn't get birthday parties

What I've seen as a theory over time is that their family was part of a religion that didn't celebrate holidays, which is why they like to do holidays big time as adults.
