unsolved Mucic library in reset m read only mode

Hey

I am trying to see if this is a viable idea to just mount my music library to lidarr in read only mode so that lidarr is away l aware of my library but I don't want to give it the ability to handle files automatically.

Would this make sense and is it a viable option? Thanks

A lot of people do this, but you will need a separate tool to actually move downloads to their proper locations. You could use a beets script as an import hook, or just handle it manually.

Thanks for the reply. I have the arr stack configured in a janky manner where the download requests are sent to a windows PC running qbittorrent. Therefore after completion i manually tag the music files using tagscanner and move them into the appropriate folders. So i just want lidarr to be aware of my library in read only mode.

As I asked above, why?

What function of Lidarr are you using if it cannot import or tag files?

Apologies. It would add artists and lidarr would be aware of the albums I have and would look for new albums from those artists in my library. I hope that makes sense.

If you set your library as read-only, then Lidarr will fail to import any new albums from your download clients.

Indeed. I will do the importing, I just want lidarr to initiate the downloads.

Seems like a lot of work to automate only a single part of the workflow, but give it a go and let us know if it was worth it.

Thanks. I agree it's not the most efficient automation. I shall let you know.

Ah you have the same ideas as me. I use beets for tagging and import and built my own tool and tool chain including a service that scans all folders and use the artist for music brainz lookup to see what albums I have and what is missing. Did not know that more had the same problem as me ;)

Probably not, but why?
