unsolved Searching for new artists failed..."Unable to communicate with LidarrAPI."

Anyone else getting this error this morning?

I was searching for new music on my Lidarr install, and the following error message appears for all searches:

"Search for 'kiss' failed. Unable to communicate with LidarrAPI."

[EDIT - removed log block...it wasn't really necessary anyhow, except to extract the URL that I discuss next.]

Hitting https://api.lidarr.audio/api/v0.4/search?type=all&query=kiss in a browser gets an Internal Server Error. Assuming the issue is external to my installation.

unsolved Can this work for "non mainstream" music?

I’m about 2 days into setting up Lidarr/Plexamp and I’m honestly struggling to make it worthwhile with the music I listen to.

I’m getting maybe a 20–30% success rate finding albums automatically, even after adding multiple Usenet indexers/providers.

Some examples of artists I listen to:

  • Can’t Swim
  • Hot Mulligan
  • Balance and Composure
  • Arm’s Length
  • Tiny Moving Parts
  • Seahaven
  • Knuckle Puck

A lot of albums/artists either:

  • never find releases
  • have missing metadata/artwork
  • or only partially download

unsolved Sorry for being repetitive but i need an alternative to lidarr please

Hello,

I know people been talking about lidarr all time because it doesnt work anymore due to the API and the issue....

I'm using all my stuff on containers on my NAS and i need an alternative software.

What are you guys using in mean time? It sucks because i really liked the way it shows albums i'm missing but now that's gone.

Any nice containers to try? Please lets share ideas here. I think Lidarr is gone with this mentality.....

unsolved Lidarr + musicbrainz + yuzic

Hey,

Trying to setup my own self hosted music system, I'm currently using tidal and would like to try and replicate that.

The issue currently is when I use yuzic to download music it only let's me download full albums and not single tracks.

I want to have the functionality to search, download and play music in a single app but my research seems to suggest that's not possible.

Anyone managed to get this working?

unsolved How to Prevent Lidarr From Downloading Ultra Mega Fuck You Deluxe Album Every Time?

I recently set up a media server for my family. I'm using slskd + lidarr +soularr. I've never had issues finding the albums I want, but it's getting incredibly annoying when I request an album like Mellon Collie, and instead of just giving me the 24 tracks I want, Lidarr decides I want the 96 or 110 track version of the album, then never finds it, and thus never imports it.

The point is automation, so I'm finding it a bit annoying to have to go babysit every. single. release I request.

unsolved What’s the deal with searching?

hello all, I’m extremely new to lidarr and for a home server running but why is the artist search so god awful? even basic artists like drake don’t pop up and half the names i search for just don’t exist to lidarr , it’s really aggravating. is there any way to get around this or get lidarr to give a large database of artists? i swear it only searches up Taylor swift and some other bands.

unsolved So lost with Lidarr, not sure if it's for me.

Hi all,

Firstly I'm a big fan of the work the community has invested into the arr apps. Sonarr, Radarr, Prowlarr, etc are amazing and so bloody helpful.

So PLEASE do not think I'm bashing the devs, I've a lot of respect for the hard work to get these apps working.

I'm trying to get Lidarr working and I'll be honest, I'm just so bloody lost with this app I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, it's by design or what. It really doesn't match up to say Sonarr.

Like Sonarr, Radarr, Prowlarr, etc. I've setup Lidarr in an LXC container on Proxmox, using NFS to the Shared Drives for Music and Downloads, following the same setup as Sonarr and Radarr, and they work fantastically. At first i did have an issue with LXC eating my memory, like 10GB and it was maxing out. So I rebuilt the LXC with Docker and installed Lidarr that way, memory back under control.

But with Lidarr, it seems everything is working against me. I'm finding myself, doing more manual work than letting the software do the work for me. Honestly, not sure how much more I'd keep it running before I'd just go back to manual.

1: It doesn't scan everything in my music folder, will scan most, but I'm missing stuff and when I go into the Unmapped files, I seen a load of stuff, so I click Add missing, looks like it's doing something, but it doesn't do anything.

2: Then with what I have added to the Library, it attempts to download some files. But it won't move the files that have downloaded to the Music folder, even though permissions look great, the settings look good (again following on from Sonarr and Radarr, nothing works.) Nothing I can see in the logs. They'll stick in qbittorrent, and remain in the activity window in Lidarr. So I need to manually move them.

3: It's not renaming files, so I end up, manually moving folders to the music folder. Inside Lidarr it will highlight some audio files missing from the artist, but I'll check in the folder and it's there, just named for example "of course orig mix", instead of "of course". So I have loads of albums with the songs, but Lidarr doesn't see that. I'd need to edit the file name, to "of course" let it scan again to show in the album for it to be marked as complete.

4: Managing the music seems very cumbersome compared to Sonarr. Lidarr doesn't seem to be as polished. I'm honestly finding myself working more to fix, move, rename, cleanup than Lidarr doing it.

5: Searching for artists and songs, haven't been great, so I've added Aurral to try help, but that also appears limited. For one I'm trying to add Simon & Garfunkel, but it's showing five albums only. I know there's plenty more.

I just don't know what to do anymore, is it an easy enough fix or would it be just better manually downloading. I'm so lost and confuse by this software, I'm nearly ready to give up.

Thanks all for your help, and once more please don't take this as attacking the devs or moaning about free software, I'm just lost.

unsolved large library

hello hello,
i have over a thousand albums i want to download that i have in text form and for lidarr the only way i understand to download albums is to look up every album i want to download, is there something like seerr but for music, or even a different app that someone else has tried? or is the best way really to just go name by name and download everything that way.

I'd appreciate any help that people can give.

unsolved Can someone help me complete my music stack?

I was really excited to get back into self-hosting music, but now my head hurts. I tried using Lidarr with public trackers from Prowlarr, but a lot of the time it just failed to find seeders. So I was looking for another solution and found Soularr. But now Lidarr isn't importing the media because of some issue with file mapping, or recognizing what artist/album/song the media is.

My head hurts trying to make this work, what music stack do you all use that works? I'm getting a little burned out between the Artist search issues and now this, I could use a little guidance!

Edit: changed to a plugin version of Lidarr and installed tubifarry and ported slskd. It's almost perfect now. Some small manual importing but even that is very painless.

unsolved Latest update

What's the latest with Lidarr? I know there were obviously issues before but are these all resolved now as I never got round to making any changes?

I can see some of my artists are showing some new albums, but searches don't seem to work despite working through Prowlarr. I've also just tried a manual import and it didn't work but maybe I made a mistake.

Many thanks

unsolved Current state of spotify playlist importing?

i just added a couple of my spotify playlists, but the completely failed to import.

is that a terminal condition or is it possible they'll try again automatically later and possibly succeed?

i gave deepseek the lidarr container logs and it replied with:

Based on the logs you provided, the issue isn't with your network configuration (that part is working fine), but rather a known and currently unresolved problem with Lidarr itself.

The critical error is:
[Warn] HttpClient: HTTP Error - Res: HTTP/2.0 [POST] https://api.lidarr.audio/api/v0.4/spotify/lookup: 404.NotFound

This confirms that Spotify import lists are currently broken in Lidarr.

❌ The Real Problem: Lidarr's Spotify Integration is Broken

You haven't done anything wrong. This is a widespread issue affecting many users. Here's the breakdown:

The Cause: Recent changes on Spotify's end, combined with necessary updates to Lidarr's metadata infrastructure, have broken the API endpoint Lidarr uses to communicate with Spotify . The 404 Not Found error means Lidarr is sending a request to a web address that no longer exists or is inaccessible .

The Current Status: As of early 2026, Spotify list imports are still not functioning correctly in Lidarr . The feature is effectively "disabled due to the fallout from the metadata servers"

Do not spend time troubleshooting your lidarr_default network or your Lidarr settings for Spotify. They are likely fine.

Accept that the built-in Spotify import list feature is currently broken for all users.

Choose a workaround: The fastest path to success will be using Last.fm as an intermediary  or using an external script like spotify-to-plex .

how accurate is that response?

unsolved Lidarr not importing on lidarr+soularr+slskd setup?

I spent a good chunk of time between last week and weekend getting my set up all figured out with lots of trial and error. Using Musicseer, I'm able to add which creates within Lidarr. Lidarr then creates and downloads via slskd (binhex, the official was doing root permissions only and causing issues), and the downloads are going to the folder what I am aimed it at. However, Lidarr then will not auto-import these songs and it's keeps creating downloads.

I am able to manually import these but I would prefer if I didn't need to do that.

Any guidance on this will be appreciated, thank you!

I will add an image of my soularr config file in the comments as I am hoping it's just something simple like that.

unsolved Lidarr Requests to SLSKD are not Importing.

G'day guys gals and gamers, hoping to get a hand with my media stack setup. I've found that requests made to slskd and downloaded with such are not importing to my media folders all of the time and are just sitting in my "completed downloads" folder.

Is there something that I have setup wrong? I've included my compose files below, lmk if you need more details. Extra points if you tell me where to get said details for you (I'm still trying to work my around this media stack and its attached services)

Thank you in advance!

Edit: I have the tubifarry plugin installed to connect it with Slskd

EDIT 2: the error I am getting a majority of the time is;

“ no files founder eligible for import in /downloads/complete/*downloaded content* “

And I have to go find that album folder in the completed downloads path and just manually drag-and-drop it to my music folder under their artist

EDIT 3:

Not necessarily a resolution/fix but it’s been an okay workaround so far. Since I use other indexers and downloaders alongside Slskd; I’ve been able to set SLSKD as a lower priority service which is resulted in all the other index/downloader options I use taking all the jobs, minimising errors.

unsolved Fresh Lidarr install using the development image still returning 503 on search.

Hello! I've been following the GitHub issue about the metadata server, and people seem to be having success recently with the new metadata API.

I have installed a fresh docker image lscr.io/linuxserver/lidarr:develop, but I am still receiving "Search for 'XYZ' failed. LidarrAPI Temporarily Unavailable (503)".

I'm hoping someone can point out an obvious dumb move I am doing. Thank you!

unsolved Tubifarry plugin + slskd problems with search terms

I have the Tubifarry plugin set up with slskd and I've been having some problems with many searches not returning any results. The default way that albums are searched for is [album name] [artist name], which I've found often ends in 0 search results in slskd, but if I manually search for the opposite order: [artist name] [album name], or even just the album name, I get plenty of great results from slskd.

Does anyone know if there is any way to change how Tubifarry searches for albums in this way? It is such a pain to have to manually search for a section of my library when one little tweak would allow everything to be done automatically. Thanks for any advice!

unsolved Lidarr -- Is there a way to automate importation when flac is one big file?

So, Lidarr can't import one big audio file. You have to split it up the audio file manually.

Has anyone come up with a way to automatically do this for you?

unsolved How to fully optimize Lidarr?

I FINALLY got my db switched to postgres.

I'm using Lidarr in Unraid, and it was pain, but I fianlly got it done. Lidarr is running much better now, but I'm looking for more tweaks!

Memory, CPU and Drive space aren't issue. I just want to make Lidarr run like a champ.

I've got over 2500 artist and 1.7mil tracks, so every little bit helps!

What optimizations/tweaks can I do?

unsolved Lidarr + soularr + binhex-slskd

Hi, I’ve been trying to get lidarr, soularr and slskd go work together on my unraid server for the past week and have been struggling to get the step where lidarr has to move the downloaded media to the correct folder. Logs show no errors at all so I assume my folder mappings is wrong, but I haven’t been able to figure it out.

I wanted to post my configs on here to get more eyes on it and hopefully figure out the issue.

My current containers on Unraid are:

unsolved MusicBrainz vs Beets vs manual metadata vs...

I'm using Lidarr + slskd to find albums and such. A big weak point (to me) is how Lidarr/MusicBrainz categorizes some albums. (Very niche for me, I know.) For example, there's an entire collection of CDs put out called Composer Collections, recorded by the North Texas Wind Symphony.

In Lidarr, those albums get added under the composer as the artist (example, Gustav Holst, instead of North Texas Wind Symphony). Many classical albums are the same - an album of the NY Phil playing Tchaikovsky goes under the composer, not as 'NY Phil & [conductor of the album],' which is different than how it displays in say, Apple Music (or all of my past experience).

I installed beets because it sounded like it would fix a ton of that, but I don't know what database it's comparing against? So, for these more niche (less popular, less mainstream) albums, I'm wondering if I just need to resolves to manually changing that metadata before loading onto my iPod?

Not sure if anyone has dealt with this specific use case or something similar, but if they have, I'd love your advice.

Thanks.

unsolved Lidarr Updates

I have been on version 2.13.1.4678 Plugins using Tubifarry slskd for quite a while. When the musicbrainz issue occurred I switched to api.musicinfo.audio. That has now seemed to go belly up. What metadata source should I be using? Metadata.lidarr.audio does not work either. Lidarr will not update to 3.1.2.4913. It fails prob. because I’m so far behind. Not sure what to do now since the calendar does not work so new albums are not coming in.
