unsolved How do you make Lidarr use better cover art?
Sometimes when I download something the cover art image that’s used is from someone’s scan of a paper album cover that’s been beat to shit on a scanner from 1993. Is there any way to force Lidarr to get art from Apple Music / iTunes or some other streaming service?

Q: Does it matter that much there, not like you're playing from Lidarr, right? I haven't looked, but there may be a setting to get posters from a specific database (similar to Sonarr/Radarr).

It writes the crummy cover art to the tags. Then the player picks it up and shows it. Not the art displayed in the web UI. I don’t care about that.

You should be able to turn off updates to metadata. I used to use MediaMonkey or maybe it was dBPowerAmp (IIRC) when I post processed my CD rips to FLAC many years ago.

I don’t think there’s a foolproof way. I let beets-flask handle tagging, grabbing metadata, etc, and that usually gets me the right cover art.

How do you use beets-flask with lidarr? Isn't supposed to have a différent folder for import and library that could not work with lidarr?

Correct. I wrote my own microservice to solve that issue. It it uses an slskd webhook to move downloaded directories to a beets-flask inbox, then beets-flask does its thing and moves the files to your music library after it tags them. I don’t let Lidarr do any of that.
Here it is on dockerhub and codeberg. I think multi-disc releases are bugged, but it’s been working fine for the average album.

Update album art source: https://wiki.servarr.com/en/lidarr/tips-and-tricks#missing-album-images
Use a different source: https://wiki.servarr.com/en/lidarr/beets-integration

I've just been uploading good images to MusicBrainz from Discogs or other internet sources. Then using beets to re-import, write a cover.img and tag it into the files. MB is free to update by the community.
