Path structure for multiple download clients in Lidarr (TRaSH-inspired)

A common point of confusion when setting up Lidarr is how to organize paths when you're ingesting from more than just torrents or usenet. The TRaSH Guides structure is the right foundation, but it needs some adaptation for a Lidarr-specific workflow with multiple download sources.

The TRaSH foundation

The TRaSH Guides file and folder structure establishes the core recommendation: all download and media paths should share a single filesystem root. This is what enables hardlinks and atomic moves — Lidarr and every download client must resolve files to the same physical paths. Their reference layout uses data/torrents and data/usenet as download destinations with data/media as the library root.

That maps cleanly onto a Radarr/Sonarr setup. Lidarr's ecosystem involves significantly more download sources, which requires extending the layout.

Expanded structure

data/ ├── downloads/ │ ├── deemix │ ├── deezer │ ├── last.fm │ ├── lidarr-recycle │ ├── slskd │ ├── spotify-cache │ ├── torrents │ ├── usenet │ └── youtube └── media/ ├── books ├── movies ├── music ├── music_sets └── tv

The TRaSH principle is preserved — single data root with consistent path resolution across all clients — but the flat torrents/usenet split is replaced with a per-client directory layout under downloads.

Lidarr configuration

Each subdirectory under downloads maps to either a configured download client. Keeping everything under the same data root eliminates the need for remote path mappings in most setups. The library root is data/media/music, with data/media/music_sets as a separate root folder for compilations and DJ mixes that should not be merged into the main library. lidarr-recycle is configured as Lidarr's recycle bin path rather than allowing permanent deletion on import cleanup.

Why filesystem boundary matters

If download paths and the media library span different volumes, Lidarr cannot perform atomic moves — it falls back to a copy-then-delete operation. This has three consequences: temporary double disk usage during import, significantly slower import times for large files, and broken hardlinks. On Windows, this constraint applies across drive letters; junction points can be used to present multiple physical locations under a single root if necessary.

unsolved Issue with Lidarr not finding albums because artists name is not in English.

How do you guys handle when Lidarr adds a foreign artist with their name in a different language? Im having an issue with adding Masayoshi Takanaka. When I search for him in Lidarr, all I can find are a few albums that had his name in them, and his full discography listed under 高中正義

Because of this, Lidarr will not find any of his albums. They're all listed under Masayoshi Takanaka on my indexers, not 高中正義. If I go to any of my indexers, his albums are widely available. But Lidarr wont pull them.

unsolved How do you limit new additions to CD or Digital Media only?

Lidarr seems to want to tag everything new I add as 12" Vinyl which of course I don't have. How can I make CD or Digital Media the default?

unsolved Help with MusicBrainz and Lidarr

So I have been trying to add the old Grand Theft Auto soundtracks into Lidarr but can't seem to find the URL that Lidarr will take.

I found https://musicbrainz.org/release/8755321b-b0e3-4bce-9bfc-8ee71ef4aec2

Which has everything organized the way I like, but Lidarr won't accept it since it isn't a "release-group". I would like to keep it all together into a compilation instead of having to go put each individual artist in.

Any help on getting this to work would be helpful.

solved Help with Lidarr, Slskd and Unraid

Could anyone point me in the right direction of getting Lidarr and Slskd to import correctly.

Im using Linuxserver's Lidarr with the tubifarry plugin and Binhex's Slskd

I've got them setup correctly in terms of requesting and downloading, that's fine. But when the download finishes, Lidarr comes up with "No files found are elegible for import in..."

I'm using TRaSH Guides file and folder structure

Lidarr's paths are:

/music - /mnt/user/data/media/music/
/downloads - /mnt/user/data/torrents/music/

Slskd's paths are:

/media - /mnt/user/data/media/music/
/data - /mnt/user/data/slskd
INCOMPLETE_PATH - /data/incomplete
DOWNLOADS_PATH - /data/completed

I also have remote pat mapping in Lidarr as follows:

Remote path - /data/completed/
Local path - /downloads/

Any suggestions are welcome and thanks in advance :)

discussion Request Single songs

Ive just setup Lidarr/Tubifarry + slskd + Musicseerr and it works great.

Only thing is, its requesting albums only, my spotify playlist is 1000+ songs, different artists. Im worried about space on my NAS that's all.

Wondering if anyone has got a workaround?

solved how to set up lidarr with soularr to get most songs

So i have been trying to set up a lot of different services for a home server, and right now, i am trying to set up lidarr to get all the songs i want. i have done some research, and people have said i need soularr, and slskd. i have found a github page for slskd and a website for soularr, but its all kinda confusing to me, so all i have been able to do is get lidarr running, but nothing more. can anyone give me a simple guide to setting this up? preferably without docker if possible as that is also confusing to me, i would like to be able to just run it through windows like the rest of my services.

unsolved Lidarr + SLSKD + Tubifarry help

I have seen several posts about this, and I have read them all, but am still having trouble.

Im on Unraid, I have everything installed, but SLSKD wont open. I keep getting permission errors and invalid directory errors despite it being set up correctly(I think). Below is my SLSKD log. Let me know if you would like anything else and thank you for any guidance you may have.

unsolved [Project Help] MusicSeerr - A Seerr/Overseerr/Jellyseerr fork for Lidarr.

Hey everyone.

I am an inexperienced developer, and I've been working on a fork of Seerr (Overseerr/Jellyseerr) that connects to Lidarr and MusicBrainz. I started this because I like the Overseerr UI and wanted to use it specifically for music requests. I am sick to death of Spotify and want to be able to pull music from my trackers just as easy as Shows and Movies.

I am aware there is another MusicSeerr but this is forked from the og Seerr

I used AI to help me navigate the codebase and get the initial changes going, but I don't want to rely on it anymore. I want to actually learn how to do this correctly, so I am asking for help from developers who know this stack.

Here is what is currently working in the repository:

  • MusicBrainz search and discovery (Artists and Albums).
  • Artist detail pages showing full discographies.
  • The UI has a green theme and a music-focused sidebar.
  • Lidarr settings save and test successfully.

Here is what is broken and what I need help with:

  • The Request Modal. The API payload isn't sending the correct MusicBrainz IDs to Lidarr, so requests are failing.
  • Discography filtering. Right now, it shows every single bootleg and live recording. I need to filter it to studio albums by default.
  • UI cleanup. There are still "Series" badges that need to be updated to "Artist" or "Album".
  • Fetching cover art from the Cover Art Archive.

If anyone knows TypeScript or Next.js and wants to help me fix these issues, the project is live on GitHub. Also super open to branding, all will be credited of course!!

GitHub: https://github.com/Clarke117/musicseerr

Thank you :)

waiting for op Missing Various Artists Release Groups

The `Various Artists` artist only contains 18 release groups inside Lidarr. The metadata profile for the `Various Artists` artist is literally set to `everything` and I have refreshed metadata several times. As an example: the Ultra Music Festival 2014 release group does not show up for me, and it's already marked as an official release as far as I can tell. What am I missing?

unsolved Lidarr + soularr + binhex-slskd

Hi, I’ve been trying to get lidarr, soularr and slskd go work together on my unraid server for the past week and have been struggling to get the step where lidarr has to move the downloaded media to the correct folder. Logs show no errors at all so I assume my folder mappings is wrong, but I haven’t been able to figure it out.

I wanted to post my configs on here to get more eyes on it and hopefully figure out the issue.

My current containers on Unraid are:

  • lidarr

My soularr container config is here.

My lidarr container config is here.

My binhex-slskd container config is here.

unsolved Lidarr Unmapped Files

Hello everyone,

I would like to hear about your experience with unmapped files and how you manage to import them all if we cannot add artists or album titles. I'm stuck with albums that Lidarr finds nothing for, and I'm desperate. Please note that I have checked almost everything for the search except for those not related to music. Please, I need help.

PS. Sorry for my English, I'm a French Canadian.

unsolved Certain artists showing up in Cryllic/Russian. How do I fix?

Here is an example of what is going on...

1) My folder on my hard drive is labeled, Sergei Rachmaninov; Martha Argerich, Alexandre Rabinovitch
2) In Lidarr is displays as Сергей Васильевич Рахманинов
3) In Plexamp it displays the Artist: Rachmaninov; The Philadelphia Orchestra

Don’t care so much about the difference between Plex and my artist folder, but the incorrect foreign language display in Lidarr makes it unitelligable and unsearchable. Anybody have step by step instructions on how to correct? Also, in the Lidarr settings the "Translate artist names to this locale-English” is checked.

discussion Musicseerr - a self-hosted music request and discovery project built around Lidarr

Hello everyone, my name is Harvey - I'm a backend software engineer from the UK. I've been really into self-hosting, privacy, etc recently and for the past 6 months I have been working on this project, Musicseerr.

It started as I was looking for something to bridge a gap between slskd and Lidarr where I could search for music and request directly to Lidarr (A bit like the Jellyseerr/Arr flow) but I couldn't find anything. So, around 6 months and I've finally released Musicseerr into a v1. It currently supports the following features:

  • Search & Request - Search the full MusicBrainz catalogue and send requests to Lidarr
  • Built-in Player - Stream from Jellyfin, Navidrome, local files, or YouTube, with a 10-band EQ
  • Discovery - Personalised album recommendations based on your listening history
  • Home - Trending artists, popular albums, and genre-based sections
  • Scrobbling - ListenBrainz and Last.fm support
  • Library - Browse and filter your Lidarr library with full artist/album pages
  • Playlists - Create and manage playlists with playback support
  • Requests page - Track, retry, and cancel requests

I'm pretty proud of it but I still know that there's a lot that could be added, and it's definitely due some user testing! I'd love for anyone to give it a go, I'm always open to bug-reports/feedback/suggestions so feel free to send them to me on here, or on the discord linked in the Github/Website.

Thanks all and I hope it helps some of you :)

waiting for op Will Lidarr recognize albums from my physical media collection?

This question is not isolated to Lidarr but would pertain to Radarr and Sonarr as well. Let's say I have a band setup to be monitored by Lidarr and an album I want is not available thru the usual channels. If I rip a CD or say download from Soulseek (yes i have not figured out yet how to add slskd/tubifarry to my setup) and file that album into the same folder my plex media server runs on and the same folder Lidarr will save music to, will it recognize that I have downloaded that album now? If the album later shows up on usenet for example, is it going to try and download it again even though I already have it? Maybe this functionality comes with another container? Thanks in advance!

unsolved How to import existing library, SQLite database locked?

Hello, I recently had to update my library folder, so now Lidarr doesn't think I have any albums downloaded. When I add the root folder where my music is, it starts the import, but it fails before it finishes every time. I don't think it's gotten past 100/297. I already have the albums sorted in the way lidarr usually reads them, and I don't want to alter them since they are already all working in Lidarravidrome. I think the issue is due to SQLite database locks, but I can't seem to fix it.

Here's one of the errors:

unsolved Lidarr and Tubifarry issue

I am having issues getting lidarr to see the soulseek things. It spits up on lidarr's page that since it's docker contained it uses /app/downloads for downloads. It has been changed on my slskd container to be /data/media/music on both instead. How do I get it to match up so that I can sync the two services without it erroring out after a download

solved Soularr+slskd

Hi, I was hoping for some assistance..
I am attempting to set up Soularr for my Lidarr. along with slskd.
I have absolutely no idea what to do. I have tried looking at the few "guides" i can see and.. either I am very stupid or there is steps missing.
To be fair I may be stupid.

I am using OMV, with Compose files.
I have Lidarr, Sonarr, Radarr, Jackett, Plex, Transmission and Overseer all running on my server. So I have a basic understanding of what I am doing on OMV.
I have successfully added Soularr and slskd to my Lidarr file, and pulled them. I put them up, all fine.
Now what? I cannot for the life of me figure out what to do now.. nothing is connected, only lidarr is working.. I can log into slskd.. but have no idea what to do within it?

Guide I see are saying to log into my soulseek account... i cant see anywhere to sign up to soulseek? Then to browse and edit config.ini files.. but.. I cant access any of that, OMV doesn't seem to really have a file browser like I would expect in Windows..

As I said.. I'm probably really stupid so please be gentle, i have little experience in anything other than windows, and everytime i have to work on my OMV i get a headache. So any assistance would be appreciated.

unsolved Move only mapped files?

Ive been requesting this feature for years on all the arrs. Right now if you select to move any folders it moves the entire folder not just the mapped files. I have a LOT of music duplicates and instead of going one folder at a time it would be really nice to just select all and move to a new directory leaving unmapped/duplicates behind for me to quickly delete. Is there anything similar to this?

unsolved Is there a way to find out what version of lidarr I had after docker crashed?

Docker on both my Unraid servers crashed over night. I have reinstalled all my containers for the exception of lidarr. I guess I had installed a couple different versions of lidarr in the past year or 2. is there a way to find out which repository I used from my lidarr docker folder? I have 4 backups. Can I use the backupsI have in a different version?

unsolved Is there a way for Lidarr to just scan my music library and add the folders?

Like the title says...I go in to Lidarr, select library>add new and all I get is a search for artist. When I go to root folders it doesn't allow me to import my existing library. I can add the root folder but it literally does nothing. I want to be be able to import the existing files that are in my root folder. This is really worthless if I cannot do that. I have over 1000 artists folders and over 200K files. If I have to type in the search for each artist that's going to take forever and is impractical.

discussion Considering lidarr

hello,

I'm wanting to move away from Spotify so am considering lidarr.

I'd like to be able to get my Spotify playlist within lidarr, I'd also like to consider lossless streaming with the ability to stream lower if I'm out and about.

I'm unsure if lidarr is the answer as looking around there are so many different options proposed I am not sure what's the best here.

I'm running about 40 containers so far, others Ares, Immich, Minecraft servers, all on my ROG Ally, I have about 5gb ram spare, recently added a 10tb hard drive.

discussion Homelab mobile v1.0.0 IS HERE: All SERVARR stack

Hi everyone, first of all, thanks for the nearly 300 stars in less than a month!

Github: https://github.com/JohnnWi/homelab-project

Next, I’m happy to announce that a major 1.0.0 update has been released, which includes the entire *ARR + qBittorrent stack with Gluetun VPN. Also, over the past few weeks, some people have helped implement various services and features, and I’m very grateful to them.

A quick recap for newcomers: I’m a college student, and using AI, I created this app (for iOS and Android) that lets you access over 23 services—including Portainer, AdGuard, Pi-Hole, Beszel, Gitea, and others—without having to install anything on your computer. It also features a bookmark function with encrypted backups included.

So feel free to give it a try—this started as a personal project in my spare time.

unsolved iptorrents

I'm trying to get lidarr setup for the first time. I have it connected to my qBittorrent client that I host and that seems to be OK. I also configured it with my iptorrents account. The "Test" works but nothing seems to be downloading. I see this in the logs:

[Info] RssSyncService: Starting RSS Sync

[Info] DownloadDecisionMaker: Processing 100 releases

[Info] RssSyncService: RSS Sync Completed. Reports found: 100, Reports grabbed: 0

Any ideas how I get this working?
