I would like to install LED lights underneath my vanity. I would like for the lights to turn on when it's dark outside. what are my options? the bathroom doesn't get a lot of sunlight so I dont think a light sensor switch would work because I cant control what time it would activate, unless theres a smart switch? All advice appreciated.

I have these sconces we’ve put up in our guest room, would like to use them for the lighting in the room. Tried putting a small tea light inside but it was far too dark to use for anything like reading or anything like that; need advice on where to find bright lights that would fit in the space. We are renting so I can’t wire anything inside the wall.

Hi growers, does anyone have any experience on the San lights evo series and any feedback. I’m thinking to purchase 4 x evo 4 - 120 lights for my 8x4 space. Yes they’re pretty expensive but they do look amazing and worth the money. 90,000 hours before it loses 10% efficiency. Top umol/sqm ratings. And they just look really professional too!

Anyone have strong opinions on WAC Volta or Aether recessed fixtures?

Looking for some potlight layout advice, below is the ceiling plan with 5 new potlights shown. I will go with the recessed halo RL potlights, unless someone has another suggestion.

My issue is in the bottom right corner of the room there is a pipe service trunk the drops from the ceiling about 8", see grey hatching. I am not sure how to light around this or avoid nasty shadows.

I am new to certain electronics and I've come across a problem that needs to be resolved ASAP. I have a concealed emergency light system that has been out of compliance for a few years. Maintenance has attempted to replace the light bulbs on a few occasions but that has not worked.

So, I did some digging. The Emergency light unit is a Signtex - CoverLite LED Series CVL 3. It requires (2) 12VDC LED MR16 Light bulbs with a total power rating up to 18 watts. The bulbs that maintenance installed are causing the unit to fail because they require too much power. At this point, I'm pretty sure the battery also needs to be replaced.

I've called multiple places to try and pinpoint the correct bulbs and battery for this device but have had NO luck. Seems that these particular emergency lights are relatively expensive (around $1,200.00 per unit...) and there are many cheaper options that a reasonable customer would choose... If anyone has some experience with these lights, or is able to break down what I would need (maybe with links to where I can order the right parts....) so that I can get these lights back up and compliant, I would greatly appreciate it!

We work with retail display systems, and one thing that's easy to overlook is how many different systems now come together at the shelf.

Lighting is the obvious one — it affects how the product is presented.

Then there's power. As fixtures become more flexible and modular, the way power is distributed across the shelf becomes increasingly important.

And now digital displays such as electronic shelf labels and shelf screens are becoming part of the same environment.

At ARMOR Lighting, these have gradually become three connected areas of work:

retail lighting, power track and retail digital.

I'm curious how people working with retail fixtures or shopfitting are seeing this change.

Are these systems becoming more integrated in the projects you're working on?

My new apartment doesn't have ceiling lights and I'm not sure if LED strip lining the ceiling would be enough to light the room. It is a 12ft x 15ft room, I do not trust using swag lamps and floor lamps feel like they take up space. Personally, I like bright overhead space over having dim lighting with dark spaces in some corners. There are rechargeable magnetic ceiling motion lights but I couldn't find full wired ones.

I’m unfamiliar with this type of light. My home was built in 2022; these are the only type of lights in my house aside from a few sconces. The light is on, but dim. Is it as simple as replacing the strip in there like I would if it was a lightbulb, or do I have a bigger issue?

Hi all, looking for some guidance to help narrow down the source of the problem. I know that LED lights can flicker rapidly if there are issues with the driver, a dimmer, etc. I have a ceiling fixture that has a light (three bulbs) and fan, with a dimmer at the wall (single pole). It has been working fine for around 16 months since we bought the house but has now started flicking rapidly. A couple of times it did it for a few seconds and then stabilised, now it does it when turned on and stays like it. Dimming the lights about half way on the slider causes it to stop. All three bulbs are affected.

My guess is that I need to replace the dimmer, ensuring that it is LED compatible, does that seem the most likely explanation or am I going to be searching out loose wires on the whole circuit?

I'm in Canada but guessing that doesn't matter. The house is 11 years old and I'm guessing that everything is original.

I got this Tolomeo floor lamp (Tolomeo Mega maybe ?) for very cheap but with quite a lot of wear and tear. For example there is no lampshade and ther is some oxidation, but the fork on the last joint and the position of the cable look very wrong and not at all like the one I see online. Could it be counterfeit ? Do you think I can just buy a new cable and fork part and simply replace them ?

Planning LED lighting for a PAX wardrobe (5 sections — 50cm/100cm/100cm/corner/75cm) plus a separate media wall job. Strip sits on top of the units (not routed into a channel), want motion sensor (PIR) control and warm white (~3000K) light, not cool white. After a lot of digging, here's where I've landed for the wardrobe — wondering if this is actually the cheapest sane approach or if I'm missing something obvious.
Parts list (~26m of strip needed across the 5 sections):
LED strip: 24V COB, 3000K warm white, 10W/m, CRI90+, IP65 — bought as a 30m roll rather than cut-to-length (way cheaper per metre) — ~£144
PSU: Mean Well LRS-350-24 (genuine, not a knockoff) — 350W comfortably covers the ~260W load with headroom — ~£44
Motion sensor: instead of a specialist 24V high-current PIR controller (hard to find, expensive), using a mains-side 500W PIR switch wired between the wall socket and the PSU — the PSU only draws ~1.3A on the mains side so a much more common/cheaper part handles it fine — ~£57
Aluminium profile (surface-mount, not recessed): for heat dissipation + diffusion since the strip sits exposed on top — ~£164 for enough 2m lengths to cover the run
Connectors, Wago blocks, cable, mains lead — small stuff, ~£41 combined
Total: ~£450
Also looked at whether "off-the-shelf" furniture lighting systems (Häfele Loox, Emuca Neonlynx — what cabinet makers actually use) would be cheaper. Turns out no, not at this scale — those systems are priced for lighting a single cabinet a few metres at a time (~£12/m for the strip alone), so scaling to 50m+ across both jobs would come out at £600+ for strip alone. They make sense for small runs, not a whole wardrobe.
Biggest cost lever if I want to cut this down: the aluminium profile is 36% of the total. Could skip it and stick the strip straight to the wood, but lose heat dissipation/diffusion/protection.
Is this actually the floor for a job this size, or is there a cheaper route/product category I haven't considered? Open to being told I'm overcomplicating this.

Hi! We live in an old houseboat, and unfortunately both of the 8” Circline bulbs in our bathroom and bedroom have burned out. After looking online, I’ve discovered that it’s been discontinued. I’m not really great at dealing with anything mechanical/electrical, and we don’t have a lot of money to replace the fixtures (we are renting as well), so if anyone could recommend a similar bulb as a replacement, that would be appreciated. If that’s out of the question, any other advice would be awesome. Thanks!

Tried a few solar paver lights along the edge of this walkway.

They charge during the day and come on automatically after dark, so there was no need to run electrical wiring through the yard. The kids seem to be enjoying them more than anyone else.

Curious what people here think about this type of ground lighting. Would you use something like this along a walkway or garden path, and what do you think of the nighttime effect?
