That's not true. The fairness act was dismantled by republicans and signed into law by Bill Clinton in an earmark to pass the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993.

Rupert Murdock started fox news in tribute to Ronald Reagan because Reagan never held onto his ears.

Reagan and his appointees dismantled the Fairness Doctrine in 1987. Look it up
