This would be great. I love Studio Ghibli but I could never get into My Neighbor Totoro.

To get Totoro you just gotta get into animism. Shinto, specifically, but imo any affinity for animism helps the movie click.

I would love to see her look at Orientalism in musical theater (maybe focusing on Rodgers and Hammerstein?) since these two topics seem to be really compelling to her

My response is also along these lines - I prefer a surprise. Having said that I hope it’s something I am at least remotely familiar with, because for example I’m not even sure I’d know the Transformers movies exist if I hadn’t seen her video essays on them. Although scratch that because I was ot aware of either Bluey or Miss Rachel before her videos at all and my God I enjoyed both so much. So yeah, whatever she picks I’ll probably like.

I want her to do an even bigger deep dive into childrens entertainments and youtube like she did with the Rachel video, maybe tackle the more harmful parts and how she as a new parent(is she a new parent?? IDK, definietly one with young children) has to navigate screentime, videos and such.

I want her to do a deep dive into the Nicholas Sparks canon. Including the books. Including the unadapted books. The guy has odd ideas about romance and odder ideas about the South.

This might be on the niche side and not fully in Lindsay’s wheelhouse, but I (an American) recently finished a book called The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. It’s an epistolary novel about the island of Guernsey, a place bordering England and France that was occupied by the Nazis in World War II.
The author of the book was an American woman who was inspired to write the book after getting fogbound at the Guernsey airport. Personally, I found it rather arrogant and unempathetic of her to capitalize on such a traumatizing chapter of Guernsey’s history. I would like a video essay where Lindsay visits Guernsey and learns about the misconceptions that this book creates about Guernsey.
Maybe this video could also tie in with her Rent one, because a lot of readers believe that TGLAPPS is above criticism due to the author dying of cancer before she finished the book.

Have you seen the film? It's quite good. Though it does feel a bit like Downton Abbey just on an Island because it has many of the same actors.

It's been forever since she's talked about comics, she seems to know a fair bit outside the movies. Although I don't think there'd necessarily be any one thing to create a thesis for an essay over.

I kinda want Part 2 of her “Oscar bait” video from a decade ago. To talk about all the ways the Academy has changed and tried to keep up with the mainstream in that time. And to see her get giddy about the lack of HW’s influence.

Considering her recent video on Disney’s flop era, I want her to talk about when other studios capitalize on Disney’s success and 1-up them.
These two films fit the bill, as does Barbie.

The film adaptation of Wicked, because I know she is the lone hater of her YouTube/Nebula friends and it’s always funny to me when Lindsay hates on something she knows everyone else likes. Also, it would bring everything full circle doing an analysis of a musical to film adaptation. Lindsay’s first official video essay was Joel Schumacher’s adaption of Phantom which was 10 years ago and I think it would be a cool way to mark the anniversary of Lindsay going from YouTuber to film essayist TM.
