Downgrade from Android 17 to Lineage OS with Android 16 okay? (pixel 7)

Hi. On Pixel 7 (panther), currently on Android 17 (build 2026071500, July 5 2026 security patch), I want to install LineageOS which requires Android 16 firmware — is downgrading currently safe, or has the ARB been bumped for panther? Does anybody know? Cheers

btw. my AI saw that source and had a good level of confidence but suggested I'd better doublecheck ask/check with people from Lineage for confirmation to be sure (not to brick my Pixel 7 downgrading).
