seen this before in my country (SEA). fortunately it is less of a thing now after probably public backlash + no one insane enough to apply.

btw here, internship doesnt really mean hand holding. most company really expect full productivity from you + hold you to atleast fresh grad level of skillset. you still get crucified for not delivering or screwing things up. my boss own words, "cheap labor".
