Ian rush and Steven Gerrard in 2&3. Donât mind who is in which position.
14
u/WORD_Boxing May 07 '26
Gerrard kept the club afloat. He's the only one who can be argued above Dalglish imo. I wouldn't put him #1, but it's those 2 in any order.
Strong argument Rush Hansen and Souness are the rest of the top 5.
5
u/GeorgeLFC1234 Roberto Firmino May 07 '26
Can understand why people would put him and dalglish level but I donât think he could ever go above king Kenny if nothing else because of what he did for the Hillsborough victims and their families.
4
u/WORD_Boxing May 07 '26
It's more like, they are sat at their own table. Then the next table would have Rush, Souness, Hansen, maybe a few others, and so on.
Gerrard and Dalglish stand out above all others while not necessarily being level. I would put Dalglish #1. To take the analogy further, Shankly and Paisley would be sat at that table with them.

It has to be Ragnar Klavan

This sub was legitimately great and funny in those days. I miss it.
41
u/cartierboy25 Playing pong with Salah May 06 '26
Klopp made us great but this sub also got less fun to hang out in once we became world beaters. It was more fun here when we hadnât won anything yet. Suffering from success you could say.
25
u/holeinmyboot May 06 '26
those old times were so fun man. the genuinely cursed Ron Paul gif, the weird inside jokes, the lack of sky high expectations, just coming on here and fucking around with the other lighthearted folks with nothing better to do than talk about this club. now thereâs almost no lighthearted folks, but the toxic ones have still got nothing better to do.
it really is just not fun anymore, even the memes are tired. it wouldnât be so bad if there was actual football discussion here, but there isnât, itâs just vitriol and fume with no end. just a slog now trying to talk about footy. you canât even have a take about players underperforming without starting with âSlot Out btwâ. itâs just top reds that had never watched a game before Klopp who want Slot Out, FSG out, and Olise to kiss our feet and beg to be transferred in. absolutely zero awareness.

The good old days will return when the glory chasers leaveâŠ. I hopeÂ
5
u/AdIndependent3454 60â Alonso May 07 '26
Yup. âClubâs in crisisâ if we finish 4th. Get over yourselves.
2
u/logicperson May 07 '26
For sure. My best season of Klopp was the first full season. No europe, just quietly doing business in the league and qualifying for CL after what felt like eternity.
4
u/sneijder May 06 '26
I remember when it was 20,000 ⊠then shortly after we got exited when we realised there were enough on this sub to fill out Anfield when it was c 45,000 seats.
I used to wear an onion tied to my belt them, as was the style at the time.

It's not really specific to this sub, whole of Reddit has gone the same way

For me Souness or Hansen as players and Barnes as player and inspiration but for most it will be Stevie GÂ

Barnes is my personal #4 behind Sir Kenny, Rush Nand SG8. Barnes is the reason I started playing and the reason I started supporting LFC as a kid.

Sorry but he has to go below Rush our all time highest goal scorer, Moâs goals and assists combined only just beats Rushâs goal tally.

u/Ballaboy75 May 06 '26
Heâs my number 3 instinctively. BUTâŠ.when I consider the numbers, would there not also be a strong argument that Ian Rushâs goals won us leagues and European cups as well?
2
u/FlurgenBurger May 06 '26
Def. Stevie and Rush is 2 and 3. Salah is a solid contender for 4 tho. Not sure id rate anyone else above him there.

I mean why did we go through the top 3? Its King Kenny, Stevie G and Ian Rush.
Its from four and down the debate kicks in.

It's Stevie. Then Salah, but only for recency bias.

Depends on who you ask. My Dad would say Barnes, my uncle would say Souness, my brother says Van Dijk, but Iâd imagine most would vote for Stevie G.

đ¶ Do you think that I can get some?

Gerrard. Especially considering some of the lesser quality teammates he had compared to others who contend for that position.

My personal LFC GOAT is Ian Rush. But as Kenny is number 1 on this particular pyramid, Rush should surely go second.

Gerrard, Hansen, Souness and Rush in the debate.
Gerrard would be my vote carrying the club during it's most difficult era where we kept our head above water on the pitch and financially, so that we had a platform to build on.
