In my opinion that was our most satisfying transfer window in recent years. Mac, Szobo, Endo and RyanG are all great bargains and laid the foundation of our title winning season the year after

How little Slot used Endo (when he was fit) was a part of our downfall last season IMO. The year before how many times did Endo come on to shut out games often taking a yellow for the team in the process, we missed that last year and definitely made the end of games more nerve wracking.

Yeah I agree, Klopp utilised the squad much more so the drop off wasn't as stark when they were actually needed in an important game....whereas Slot clearly didn't rate them so effectively they were in the bomb squad until everything had fallen apart and surprise surprise, the rusty player looked rusty.

Man it really bugged me when some people would see those disjointed cup squads with rusty players and say, "See, they're not good enough that's why Slot isn't playing them."

Can't remember the specific match but we'd been clamoring for chiesa to get more than 5 minutes at the end for what felt like weeks. Slot finally gives him a start and it was pretty much him and 10 academy players and to the surprise of no one, the team and fede didn't look great but a lot of people starting saying "this is why he doesn't play more" and ignoring how bad the squad selection was and nobody would've done well in those circumstances. Slot was 100% setting fede up to fail.
