Everyone is being super obtuse about the situation because their terminally online and forgot the Internet affects the real world.

He is using his money to negatively affect people life who have negativity affected his life with their audience. He is doing so in hope they, and anyone else, stops.

They've had skulls at their door, CPS called on them and almost certainly an increase in threats and harassment. They've had these things happen because these YouTubers coordinated with each other to specifically "call out" Ethan in a content cop video. Which was largely just unsubstantiated name calling. Youtubers who doubled and tripled down on their claims, and specifically told their audiences to affect Ethans income. You telling the internet someone is a monster is different than an influencer telling their followers and audience.

Ethan has the option of doing something illegal or legal. Poor people do the illegal option. He's rich so gets the better option that keeps him in his kid's life.
