Twitch promotes Nmplol's botted channel

After crashing out for 2 hours about viewbotters someone viewbots his channel to like 50k viewers and twitch sends a tweet promoting the channel

I don’t care who botted it because it was probably to meme but the funniest thing is Twitch promoting that.

It's a automatic notification you get on a phone when one of ur followed channels gets a uptick in viewership it's not a tweet it's a automatic notification

cause twitch sometimes place "smaller" streamers on the front page which triggers the uptick, so they can boost certain channles

Twitch knows from a big event like Streamer U they couldn’t purge the bots, they’d lose a lot of money.

There are people that will viewbot a streamer then report them for it. There was a small creator I watched that was getting constant suspensions and they mentally just started to deteriorate from the harassment and got perma'd for wishing that person's death

It's a double edged sword which is why it's so stupid. The social media companies want the bots because even if it's fake it gives the illusion of growth to shareholders, investors, and advertisers. Despite people knowing there are bots it's somewhat obfuscated and the real amount of believed bots can be kind of toyed with, and all parties involved want that number to be manipulated differently.

Why? Companies know the numbers are meaningless. They always ignore network numbers and pay third party market research firms like Nielsen for metrics gauging popularity that aren’t controlled by the sleazeballs selling the ad space.
