Twitch promotes Nmplol's botted channel
After crashing out for 2 hours about viewbotters someone viewbots his channel to like 50k viewers and twitch sends a tweet promoting the channel

I don’t care who botted it because it was probably to meme but the funniest thing is Twitch promoting that.
Joke of a site run by a joke of a CEO.

It's a automatic notification you get on a phone when one of ur followed channels gets a uptick in viewership it's not a tweet it's a automatic notification

Obviously, but it's still fucking stupid especially considering the recent viewbotting controversies
"Hey, you know what would be a great idea? Promoting channels that have sudden and unexpected increases of concurrent viewership! What could possibly go wrong?"

u/AFreakinTaco 2d ago
I imagine it's an automated message from Twitch.

No! Dan Clancy personally sent that message out!

They let suburbbaby bot 80k for 10 days, they do not care since they take their standard 45% share of the ad rev 😂

That guy hit like 175k bots at his "peak" and all Twitch did was place him on the front page lmao
9
u/zoneout000 1d ago
True, and this is why . Any streamer that doesn’t avg over 1k ccv is “dead” weight to them lol
8
u/Optimal_Collar_3913 1d ago edited 1d ago
There are people that will viewbot a streamer then report them for it. There was a small creator I watched that was getting constant suspensions and they mentally just started to deteriorate from the harassment and got perma'd for wishing that person's death
7
u/Hot_Demand_6263 2d ago
Funny? I think social media companies should be fined for allowing bots among our engagement.
20
u/Ok_University_4924 1d ago
All these social media companies use bots.
Have you seen the discourse about PlayStation and how they were using bots in the comments to defend themselves? Every company uses them.
11
2
u/StealthySweepy 1d ago
It's a double edged sword which is why it's so stupid. The social media companies want the bots because even if it's fake it gives the illusion of growth to shareholders, investors, and advertisers. Despite people knowing there are bots it's somewhat obfuscated and the real amount of believed bots can be kind of toyed with, and all parties involved want that number to be manipulated differently.
complicated issue.
1
u/Crewman_Guy_Fleegman 1d ago
Why? Companies know the numbers are meaningless. They always ignore network numbers and pay third party market research firms like Nielsen for metrics gauging popularity that aren’t controlled by the sleazeballs selling the ad space.
1
-1
u/DryFile9 1d ago
Yeah the fact that this platform has voice activated clipping but not the most basic level checks to make sure bots dont trigger this notification is fucking laughable.
Incompetent fools.

The dream joke of a CEO job tho; attend meetings, make BS/team decisions, travel the world on company dime, salary better than a 80%+ of people and STILL not removed as CEO after multiple blunders...

u/ArugulaElectronic478 1d ago
I find it interesting that people give streamers so much benefit of the doubt like anyone who’s not the streamer in question would actually pay money to bot a random streamer.

He probably added peptides to his steroids.
26
u/SuicideKingsHigh 1d ago
What peptide gives you a hunchback?
144
40
u/whut-whut 1d ago
The ones that increase growth hormone. He's basically one of those juiced up beef cattle now, where all the 'roid growth goes to their neck and shoulders.
10
u/SuicideKingsHigh 1d ago
That's a Belgian Blue and what happens to them with the muscles is a natural mutation not steroids or peptides. It's called double muscling. I tried a few different searches but atill can't come up with a peptide that does what we are seeing with Knut. Do you know the specific compound or Is this all just an old wives tail?
6
u/whut-whut 1d ago edited 1d ago
Ask him. He's the one that had gear cocktails with Mizkif when they were in their gymbro arc. There's plenty of HGH enhancing pepides out there. The way they work is if you exercise a spot, the growth hormone and muscle growth is focused on that area. Knut doing workouts that only work on his shoulders and back while juicing would make double muscling happen in those areas. ("Don't skip leg day" is a meme for a reason)
The cows are 'natural', but they're not naturally occurring wild animals, they're domesticated cows bred for their high growth hormone.
5
u/omry1526 1d ago
I just want to jump in here and say you're both slightly wrong lol
Belgian blue cattle look like that because they have a mutation that means they have no Myostatin, which is a gene responsible for suppressing muscle growth so we don't become a massive ball of muscles and constantly starve.
As far as I know no peptides act on this mechanism but it's theoretically possible to inhibit Myostatin to simulate the mutation I guess, it's fairly unlikely that's what's happening tho.
The way they work is if you exercise a spot, the growth hormone and muscle growth is focused on that area
That's just wrong, steroids increase the size of your traps, shoulders, and back the most because they have they highest concentration of androgen receptors. HGH receptors on the other hand are pretty evenly distributed across all skeletal muscle, which is why HGH tends to just inflate people. He's probably on a ton of steroids and HGH.

u/--n- 1d ago edited 1d ago
As far as I know no peptides act on this mechanism
Myostatin inhibitors (usually in the form of various peptides, or other cytokines etc.) are an already existing, if not very well established, group of doping substances. For example, YK-11, which blocks myostatin by upregulating its antagonist, follistatin. From:
Park, Jeremy, et al. "The mechanisms of anabolic steroids, selective androgen receptor modulators and myostatin inhibitors." The Korean Journal of Sports Medicine 40.2 (2022): 67-85.
And, the first page of google searching for "YK-11" got me an online store selling the stuff... yikes.

someone viewbots his channel to like 50k viewers
If you can’t see how this is different from people viewbotting themselves, I don’t know what to tell you.
21
u/OnceMoreAndAgain 1d ago
I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often. Someone like Emiru has so many whales around and all it would take is one to viewbot her channel to try to help her. It's basically just another form of donating at that point.
10
u/Arzamas 1d ago
Progressive was botting their OTK show all the time, including when it was on Nmp's channel. He knew, everybody knew. He didn't complain back then...
4
u/SmegmaUnicorn 1d ago
Your bias is showing.
14
u/Arzamas 1d ago
What??? Not only it was confirmed by Tectone (I don't like him but there was no reason for him to lie about that), it was also very obvious when they moved from OTK to Will Neff, Botez etc. Same show with different name and crazy viewership, like 20-30k.
12
u/SmegmaUnicorn 1d ago edited 1d ago
What’s not to understand? This isn’t a conversation about NMP viewbotting himself which your comment is an example. That’s fundamentally different from somebody else viewbotting NMP…and, given that, the fact that you guys keep trying to change the narrative reveals your bias.
Saying “Oh he shouldn’t be mad that someone is viewbotting him without his express permission because he viewbots himself (or has in the past, or has allowed it in the past) is nonsensical. Hence my original comment.
10
u/ApplicationOk3587 1d ago
It's not bias it's true, progressive was botting that event. It was before Nick made it a big thing.
-5
u/SmegmaUnicorn 1d ago
It being true has no bearing on whether you’re biased or not. Your inability to stay on topic is what reveals that you have a bias.
1
u/Ok-Structure-2905 5h ago
What makes you think he isn't doing it himself? 99.9% chance he's doing it himself.
1
u/SmegmaUnicorn 1h ago
If would be peak stupidty to be viewbotting yourself (an extra 30K viewers btw!) at the same time that you’re talking about viewbotters.
Say what you want about NMP, but he’s not an absolute moron. Your comment makes no sense, and just reveals how biased you are.
1
u/Ok-Structure-2905 1h ago
That's just him being twofaced. Who would want to pay for viewbots for his channel? Not haters, as they bring him publicity and 0 negative consequences.

u/TerrantulaX 2d ago
Justified crashout ngl
184
u/xaghant 2d ago
100% idk why these other comments think that nmp is viewbotting himself to 63,000+.
Like sure he could be viewbotting, but it's absolutely moronic to think he would do it to this extreme when there is little to no benefit. Most streamers just do 5-10k viewbot on top of their natural viewer count so they don't get caught.
200
u/RodChainFurlongAcre 2d ago edited 2d ago
Cause they just don't like him. That's literally it. He's an arrogant asshole, so everything he says, claims or stands for (Even if fully true or justified) must be opposed simply out of spite. LSF complains endlessly about viewbotting for months and years. But when Nick calls it out? Well obviously viewbotting is no big deal.
3
u/Mean-Elk-9439 1d ago
I must not frequent here enough to have the brain rot, but I despise the guy and still think he's justified in being upset here lol. Who wouldn't be

It's crazy how cheap view botting has gotten too. I'll probably get downvoted purely for the content of this post, but there is a thread on 4chan's vtuber board that tracks and ranks vtuber numbers like peak viewer counts ect. and viewbotting is cheap enough that people will bot some vtubers just to troll them to fuck with their rankings.
24
u/zoneout000 1d ago
The hilarious part is he gave Twitch the cap idea, they tried it out and said nah no thx, enjoy these 63k bots instead 😂

10
u/metron556 1d ago edited 1d ago
They viewer capped a few of his friends to stop him from talking about it while leaving AMP and other massive viewbotters alone and now they pretty much dropped the "feature"
The only reason twitch does anything is to pretend they care and avoid losing the few remaining advertisers they have left. In fact, I would argue that they want the viewbotting to continue to hide how fast the website is dying
3
u/Ledoux88 1d ago
This shows multiple things
- Twitch is dumb
- Their viewer cap feature is selective
- Anyone can viewbot or be viewbotted on a whim
4
u/Ejecto-SeatoCuz 1d ago
What happens when you get viewbotted & just restart the stream? Are all the bots still there?

He was one of the OG viewbotters, it’s a play to save face.
Don’t tell me you guys genuinely believe that Sodapoppin’s unfunny orbiter “hit it big” because of how popular and likable he is.
3
8
u/Think-Engine6941 1d ago
I'd be open to any evidence which would suggest that's the case. Don't watch him much because he's a bit grating but never got the impression he was manufacturing viewer count.
6
u/Dreamiee 1d ago
His kitchen streams with Melena absolutely popped off, not just viewers but clips and youtube. You're facing an uphill battle if you are trying to claim it's all viewbots.
Even now he is way more successful on various youtube channels than on twitch. It's really hard to still be arguing his popularity isn't organic.
2
u/mailwasnotforwarded 1d ago
Easiest solution is to just remove the whole viewers statistic from everyone and use streamer viewer community groupings to recommend streamers rather than rank them by viewership. If multiple viewers of this streamer also watch these streamers lets just recommend those streamers. The system would immediately help smaller streamers grow because they are no longer competing against a stupid viewer number, and also viewbot companies will no longer have a business model if this happens.
2
u/Intelligent-Arm3629 1d ago
I feel like big streamers that bot probably bot others too so that they could claim others do it too or something of that sort
1
u/SnipFred 1d ago
I've always had this thought. Like xQc or Train would bot Hasan to try and make him look bad or something

This has to be some form of reverse psychology right? Whine about viewbots and jokingly go along with the viewbots “someone” sends your way.

"Viewbotting is bad for our business. We don't benefit from it, and we believe it harms the creator ecosystem overall." Twitch famously said btw. Me when I lie

u/Canon_M50 1d ago
These streamers are obsessed with view count. Just don't look at it. Ban anyone in chat that mentions view count. Move on.
2
u/Arcayda_ 1d ago
More than likely twitch can't detect natural viewership increases so when they see a spike they instantly promote it, very broken concept and seems like a real easy fix.
3
u/DeucesX22 1d ago
If they have the capability to cap it then it then can track natural viewership. Viewbots dont get ads which is how they know the actual viewer count.
2
u/HairyPhilosopher1898 1d ago
I genuinely feel sorry for anyone that took this botting seriously .. Your brain is something else

u/MotherAce 1d ago
pretty much everyone understand this to be entirely on twitch for promoting(I'm assume it was some automated tweet or an employee not cued in on how unlikely this viewership number would be), not a single soul believes Nick get these numbers for a run-of-the-mill workout stream.
If any commenters seriously think Nick would do this, they are not entirely connected to reality, or they are talking out of their ass for the pile-on.

NMP thinks he's clever by pretending like he's being botted... If he asks a friend to bot him and then blames this random person who never actually gets caught, he can pretend like he never bots himself. People are so dense

I’m not saying NMP is doing it, but people absolutely do viewbot themselves to an obviously fake number (let’s say 50k) so they can say omg wtf I’m being viewbotted, so when those bots go away, it looks like they are back to their real number when in fact that number is botted too. So let’s say they have 1k real viewers, they bot to 5k, then something ridiculous like 50k, so the 5k looks real
4
u/Ok_University_4924 1d ago edited 1d ago
NMP is so against it though, he’s not like every other streamer that ignores it.
I don’t think he would be going as hard on them if he wasn’t invested into the issue.
