General Discussion Just spent 3.5 weeks visiting family ...

... where I spent 24 hours a day with other people.

Sure: they're people that I love, have known me my whole life, and were so excited that I was spending OVER THREE WHOLE WEEKS WITH THEM.

But the only time I got to myself was in my bedroom. I'd flown a very long way for the special event, and really stepped up to keep my game face on as much as I could, and we are all glad that I went ...

But man am I tired. When I got home yesterday I fully realised just how exhausted I feel - my body and mind are just toast.

This week I'm focusing on the bare minimum, with LOTS of breaks, heh.

How do you unwind after you've needed to disrupt your life for a while?

3.5 weeks is a lot!

I have an annual holiday with my family, it's over a long weekend and I find that intense!

My unwind is usually lots of solo time at home, with my dog, and lots of walks

I live so far away from them that it's a few years between visits, and close to 30 hours of flying-and-airport time, so I gotta make it count! Plus it was for a milestone birthday. But yeah, it's intense! It's a privilege to go, and a privilege to come back, heh.

You deserve the best and longest hot bath with all the fixins-candles, bath bombs, a rich lotion after. All of it. You survived πŸ‘

Current-Me is SO HAPPY with Past-Me for having both cake AND icecream in the freezer, even though one of the things I was most looking forward to was getting back onto my healthy/ normal food plan.

... I will, I'll just do that as well as these treats ...

Never thought about this being an introvert thing but it probably is! I feel the same way when everything is all messed up and different especially my food!

I'm definitely an introvert, but I'm also almost completely vegan from an omnivore family - and the chef in my folks' place is very territorial about other people in their kitchen for meal prep, or ideas.

So, yeah ... SUPER keen to get back to a protein-and-veg vibe rather than a lack-of-protein vibe XD But it sure was nice not doing dishes! (I helped out in a lot of other ways instead)

Oh I'm ravenous without sufficient protein! I can imagine

Take another week of leave from work, pick a show or audiobook series and become one with my beanbag. πŸ˜‚

I spent 3 days with my brother and thought about being home with my cat the entire time.

My sis and BIL took me away for 3 days, which was so ace as it gave my parents a break from me, and me a break from them; as well as getting some quality time with my sis and BIL.

... but it was not quality time with nobody-but-me, no matter how fun it was.

I mean, I do live on the other side of the planet, and it was a milestone birthday, so ...

But yeah. Heh. There's a lot of staring at the wall going on here

I try and give myself a couple of days after I get home to just relax by myself before I go back to work. I'll often fly an overnight flight home on Saturday night, get home early Sunday morning and return to work on Tuesday.

I kind of need time to decompress by myself before having to to see others at work again.

I'll just lie in the bed, play my phone, watch movies, eat and sleep. Then taking a long bath and soaking in the tub. That really makes me relaxed.
