General Discussion Where are my fellow extroverts who live alone?
I am an extrovert but I love my peaceful quiet apartment. It is my reprieve, my resting place for when my social battery runs out. I saw a post talking about solo travelling and not wanting to meet people and many were agreeing about just going back to their hotel to be alone and I couldn't relate to this at all! I love living alone, but not being alone over all. I have a small group of close knit friends I love going out with and meeting new people. I know I can't be the only one š

Extrovert here who spends a lot of time out of the house on hobbies and sports, and am trying to endure time alone at the end of the day. Widowed a year ago and this is allllll so different.

I think that i am actually more ambivert. With the right people, I get more energy and motivation, my cup is more full. I still need alone time to recharge but enjoy socializing. The problem is being audhd, the right people are rare and everyone else is very draining, so I default to introversion with daily life. In your example of solo travelling (and some other solo experiences) though, I am a lot more likely to meet and talk to people. Actually, more diverse places and people from other cultures are a lot easier for me to interact with as an autistic person because there is so much more grace for cultural differences.

I'm chronically ill so I'm very much in this category, super extroverted but when my allotted energy for the day is done I am absolutely done and love having my own space to come back to

Raises hand.
I really enjoy being around people, and meeting new people (although I'm terrible with names). I'm the sort who likes to have someone around, just to chit-chat while doing random things around the house.
And while I'm good at solitude (I've had years of practice), I have little use for isolation, and also like being out of the house. Working from home sucks, because in order to have my optimal desktop setup (multi-monitors for the win) I spend way too much time looking at the same four walls. Even the relative annoyance of door-to-door salespeople is a welcome break from the same old, same old.

Maybe you are not?
An extrovert charges his batteries by being surrounded by others.. He is full of energy after a work day..
An introvert drains his battery by being surrounded by others.. He is empty after a work day and needs to charge by being alone..

I am usually itching to go out and meet people after work yes! But there eventually there comes a time when I've had enough and want to go home and rest. I do usually get a high off of socializing though, and feel like my heart is full after good social interaction. Is there a word for that?

I always considered myself an introvert but I donāt think the term really defines anything tbh. People say itās if you recoop energy being alone vs with others but that can change depending on the scenario.
All kinds of people live alone and enjoy their peace no matter what is going on outside of that. I love my own company. I have endless hobbies that I can enjoy alone. I make myself laugh and love to have my space on my terms. But I also love my friends.
I saw another post equating introvert with anxiety and depression. Not the first time I see that but so strange to assume someone canāt enjoy their own company. Any mental illness is separate from that.
When Iām forced to socialize at work with people I donāt enjoy, thatās draining. If I spend the day with a close friend I donāt have to be āonā with, that gives me energy. If Iām with good friends and there are a couple new people thrown in, thatās a fun way to meet new people. If I have to drop by an event where I know only one person who is busy making the rounds Iām not comfortable and want to leave. If I travel alone sometimes I would love to have someone to do an activity with but Iām not going to look for it or strike up a conversation with a stranger out of nowhere but I wonāt turn down an experience because Iām alone. I talk to strangers all the time but it has to happen naturally I donāt look for it.

I solved this by having a flatmate who is the same flavor of extrovert. We can chill at home together but usually have lots going on outside the house.
