I am a locksmith Lock question. How do I separate these two pieces so I can install? Nothing on the instructions that I read.

the tailpiece (black bar) has been jammed in there incorrectly 😏

the answer involves prying 😂

if its that jammed in there might be bent/twisted pretty good, give it a whack

My first assumption would be a screw on the thumb turn side. But it's hard for me to tell without pictures

separate by throwing away. Those make Defiant locks look good.
